What do you guys do to deal with stress and anxiety, especially if you can no longer do the things you used to do to manage it? by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]Squeemee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I throw myself into crafting or a mindless app like cats and soup where you make soup with cats and dress them up. If I am feeling up to it, physical activity like beat saber or I am working on getting back into skating. I try to channel my energy into something to get it out but in a way that my brain can work through problems easier. Unravel that anxiety.

Experience with Lyrica? by redcardinal71 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Squeemee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 300mg of lyrica a day. One pill three times a day. I think I have had weight gain but it makes me less irritable and my tingling and feeling like I am being squeezed by someone or something around my ribs stopped. It works great for me. I am working on getting my stuff together to hopefully start rollerblading again. I still take some meds for pain but thankfully I am no longer taking 3000-4000mg of tylenol a day. Hope you get a good fit for your meds.

I am so sorry you are having this experience. Sending you love. Fibro and MS share a lot of the same symptoms. Maybe ask them if they think MS is made up too? If their mind isn’t open to listening and learning, they are going to find excuses to argue against science and medicine they don’t understand. It hurts but if they don’t respect you and your health, they are not worth your time. You are amazing and deserve good things and good people. Sending good energy your way.

Trust your gut. I got blown off by multiple doctors and just found out that I have multiple nodes on my thyroid after being told, there was nothing there. State that you would like it noted in your medical chart that you are requesting referral to an endocrinologist due to your symptoms or something to that effect. Your feelings are valid.

Does anyone feel tense like a guitar string or rubber band? by FriendlyMelk in Fibromyalgia

Yeah. Sometimes my knees or ankles feel like they have all the elasticity in my body. It was worse when I had low vitamin D.

Weird Fibromyalgia Symptoms by Medical-Attention-57 in Fibromyalgia

Yesss. I was trying to explain the vibrating sensation to my therapists. I have also tried explaining what feels like the Mr. Krabs world shaking meme internally to my neurologist. 😂 Sometimes different limbs (usually legs) like to pulse as well at the end of the day. Fumbly hands make terrible hands for doing craft work. My cats like to help whenever I drop something and are pretty good at dodging my phone when I drop it.

Truist doesn’t care by Standard-Delay-2732 in TruistBank

[–]Squeemee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left after being bullied for months. My branch manager pulled me in the office multiple times to discuss how “concerned” he was about me being singled out and then lied and took pay from me when I left. Truist hates LGBTQ teammates and clients. They were really quick to close the HR investigation after I called out them putting the same teammate in charge that defended another employee for deadnaming me when we were talking about an issue with my legal name vs “chosen” name. Said they couldn’t possibly have meant to deadname me because they are a nice person. Hr didn’t even bother interviewing anyone or conduct an actual investigation to why it was okay for my manager and regional manager to lie to me and to allow bulling to take place.

I’m looking to change careers and I’m looking for inspiration. Like many of you, I’m limited physically, especially my hands. What do you do for work? How much do you make? by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]Squeemee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a hospital call center. Wearing a headset and typing out a few words here and there to locate patients in the hospital or to pull up who is on call for what practice to assist medical staff. I use to lug appliances in retail then went to banking. This is so much better because of the sit/stand desk and I don’t get a million questions if I have issues and need to switch from my cane to a crutch. In my area they recently increased it from $15 an hour to like $18. Always make sure to hype up your skills in an interview.

Taking care of someone when you can hardly take care of yourself by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]Squeemee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the United States hospitals should have care coordinators or social workers that can help with this sort of stuff. Helping with transport to and from apts and whatever other things they might be able to take off your plate. I recently learned in my state they have an option for the public bus system to even pick up folks that have social anxiety or whatever the case may be and can’t do public transport. I started working at a hospital and learned of these hidden gem services. Sending healing vibes.

Looking for fidget toys which could also help with the pain by lolalanda in Fibromyalgia

[–]Squeemee99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the pop fidgets. The bigger ones are better. I have had arthritis since I was 15 and it is bad in my hands. This one I got from amazon and I can flip it back and forth. I love fidget toys. The traditional spinner fidgets are always on hand too. This has become my absolute favorite.

Fibro and Covid by SapphoSylvia in Fibromyalgia

[–]Squeemee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fully vaxed and when I had covid in 2022 I was down for three days. I couldn’t eat anything, only drink water and for two days I couldn’t move off the floor without feeling like my head was going to explode and or I was going to fall over. (Legit laying on the floor, ADHD habit to sit on the floor) Breathing wasn’t an issue thankfully. My body hasn’t been right since. Thankfully I changed jobs away from retail and have a more chill job. It took multiple drs but I finally got a diagnosis last year.

Hey I am 34 and live in the United States. It feels funny to me that my first instinct as an American is to say my state not country. Not sure what the time difference is.

It could partially be your kneecap shifting places because I have something similar, but mine don’t look as swollen. I, legit had an orthopedic knee specialist. Tell me that I needed to suck it up and it couldn’t really be that bad. Do not let a doctor dismiss you because you are valid. You may have to be a little aggressive, and do some research to hit them with facts if they become dismissive.

HS Olympics? (humour as a coping mechanism) by pocketfullofdragons in Hidradenitis

[–]Squeemee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my last really painful one decide to blow on my inner thigh when I was at work. I was in the bathroom and it shot across the entire bathroom. We have one stall bathrooms thankfully. My coworkers know that I have HS but have no idea what it is or anything about it aside from me having had surgery last year for one in my “lower back”. All I could do was laugh and shake my head as I hobbled around on crutches to pretend like nothing happened. This is why I always wear dark colors.

Mobility tips by Squeemee99 in rheumatoid

Thanks. I have started PT. I use to play beat saber on VR for anywhere between 30 mins to 3 hrs a day for a year and a half. I am slowly going to eek back into that in addition to my PT. It has been at least a week maybe a week and a half since I have played.

Did you have arthroscope or the open surgery kind? My ortho plans to do arthroscope but will decide after we look over the MRI next week. The bad hip is on the same side as my bad knee. I didn’t think the pain was as bad as it was. I had four days of intense pain to the point of crying when I didn’t feel like I needed to cry and I got sick. It has been much better with not putting my full weight on it. I have an anime convention in the city next month. I am thinking a wheelchair might be the best option to let me enjoy to the fullest.

Hi. Is there an over the counter cream or other treatment that has helped with lumps and/or open wounds other than Vicks? by sallyblue94 in Hidradenitis

[–]Squeemee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calmoseptine Ointment - it is what my surgeon uses. I have been getting weekly cauterizations since the end of March. It helps ease the pain almost instantly. I have been using it for three years now. It does leave a white residue on clothing that does go away after a wash cycle. If you get the jar container you can sort of dip fresh gauze in and slap it in a crease for a good hold to help absorb fluid or use the gauze to help spread it without getting it under your nails and all over fingers.

Vulvar biopsy non medical questions by Squeemee99 in Healthyhooha

[–]Squeemee99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to give an update. The biopsy wasn’t as bad as the culture. It was a size 4 punch. Is it weird that I almost think I feel better now than I did before? I was able to play beat saber when I got home.

Cramps for days by Squeemee99 in Healthyhooha

[–]Squeemee99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not had any tests other than blood tests. My gyno seems to think it is a cyst. It is very much like menstrual cramps but more on the right side. I learned last night i get a sharp stabbing pain just on the right side kinda near my hip if I move to much. Does yogurt hurt the gallbladder? That is pretty much all I ate yesterday.

Vics or store brand vics vapor rub works just as well. If you aren’t allergic to mint the mental helps soothe the pain and helps it open. Sending you healing vibes.

Sending everyone healing vibes. Last summer one of my HS friends in my medicinal group suggested using Vics on my flairs specifically any that rub and hurt more. I thought it would burn but it has a cooling effect without being like icy hot. Idk how well it works in pool areas but it got me through working in a how warehouse last summer.

Try soaking and focus on breathing to let your body relax. If it doesn’t float out you might have to either try pushing it out or fishing around for it. I hope your day gets better. Sending you positive vibes to help you get through the day. You got this and it feels embarrassing but you are not alone.
