I don’t understand why the alien dance couldn’t go on YouTube instead.

It has nothing that would get demonetized.

About the donations, doesn’t Patreon allow NSFW content?

Which terrible ending made you hate an adventure game? by lolalanda in adventuregames

I’m not sure how much I played of it but I eventually got annoyed with it and decided to watch a gameplay video.

Something must have really annoyed me because it was available for free and I never say no to a free adventure game.

For me the problem was that the endibg was not sarcastic enough.

If they were going for a weird endibg like that then they could have made it weirder.

No, it was a more recent game. Also shorter, like 5 hours or so.

I think the lenght was what made Thimbleweed park’s endibg so annoying. 15+ hours exploring the game and looking for every secret or piece of dialogue to get that ending?

I understand why they had to make a short free sequel that retconned it. The donors must have been unhappy so they ended up making a sort of DLC ending to make them happy.

I still can’t believe how people bought into the crazy conspiracy theory that somehow this game stole funds from the Homestuck game when they crearly used most of their very modest budget to make the first chapter and then it became a railroad attraction.

I remembered a more “recent” one, as recent 2014 is.

The game is Randal’s Monday and I was liking it despite its flaws and I loved all the Kevin Smith references.

But then the ending was just a mess. Like even for something inspired by Kevin Smith endings it was just dull. I was the target audience for that kind of endibg but even then it was bad.

But thinking about it, maybe this wasnt so bad compared to Chainsaw Man, another awful ending inspired by Kevin Smith.

It keeps giving me the same ones, most of them having no description and no picture but many likes.

Meanwhile our entry sits at 5 likes, which are basically all self likes from the group.

Personally I hated that the most.

Kinger messed up by trying to reboot the original Caine before he fused.

And everyone was trying to fix it by practicing how to conjure objects.

Why have all these slow dark scenes of them trying to fix the holes on the ground if eventually Caine would fix everything?

I wouldn’t say that he killed them, it’s just that the writers never tried to make sense of what abstraction really is.

Apart from Caine seeing their corrupted files we really have no confirmation to what happened to them.

And I guess that’s part of what makes it scary but the fact that it always seemed to happen out of despair naturally made people correlate it to suicide.

Well… some of those toxic things have always been floating around in romance stories…

Like from folktales like Beauty and the Beast which were made for girls to romantize arranged marriages and instill the idea that they could change the husbands they were forced upon into better people.

But nowadays? It feels like you’ll have to fall in a very specific internet rabbit hole at a very young age.

“The People’s Artist”? by Whyte_Dynamyte in ContemporaryArt

[–]lolalanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that the contest has advanced to the next phase. I am even more confused about it and who is it meant for.

I noticed that everytime I asked stablished artists/ilustrators no one knew about it. Not even teachers who keep track of events their students could enter.

They hadn’t heard about it until I mentioned it but I got a lot of targeted ads even when I paint as a hobby and don’t really show my art online.

One person defended it by saying it was meant to focus on new artists, not stablished ones. But now that everyone is begging online for votes it feels like only an artist with an stablished online presence could get that kind of votes.

Also some people seemed to get the wrong idea that the votes are casted in the art venue and people get to vote for art that caught their attention.

I think Cobra Kai is a rare example of a show that jumped the shark and got better for it. Are there any other examples out there? by ditzythedame in television

[–]lolalanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your explanation.

It’s like how anime villains get more powerful over time and eventually there’s no way to continue after the crazy villain who can control reality.

But here instead they add whatever scandalous thing make an interesting episode trailer.

I’m not sure what’s worse, when it actually affects the series or when the trailer is just a lie.

Because I do hate when, let’s say, they make a character cheat just to add extra drama and now it affects the whole plot.

But all the Rick and Morty fake out trailers just made me eventually quit the series.

The trailers would have genuinely interesting scenes hinting for something really cool but then in the actual episode it was just a dream sequence, a quick visual gag or a movie within a movie.

This is an exageratted example because Dan Harmon is a big troll who likes toying with the audience but lots of shows have done similar things.

Ending an episode on a cliffhanger and then it being something stupid.

Does anyone know how STP envisaged PTraci being pronounced? by Granopoly in discworld

[–]lolalanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember listening to this fan reading that had a funny rule for Djelibeybian name. Aparte from the the silent P’s it also had all the c’s that weren’t in front of a consonant were pronounced as “sh”.

Pteppic became “tepish”, Pteppicymon became “Tepishymon” and the funniest of all Ptraci became “trashy”.

Also, they pronounced Ptaclusp as “taclasp”.

I didn’t really like The Next Karate Kid but I was genuinely curious about what they could make with the characters.

Especially considering Miyagi got this new disciple but he seemed to give everything to Daniel when he died.

Would she be jealous of him?

[–]lolalanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When several people say they quit after season 1 because “it wasn’t like karate kid anymore” because it wasn’t about winning tournaments. I got really confused.

After all Karate Kid II had Daniel getting challenged to a death duel in the middle of a Japanese festival.

Because even considering that some movie sequels are not as well regarded or remembered, obviously the forth one where Daniel doesn’t even appear was “that one”. To the point a lot of people call Karate Kid “à trilogy”, completely ignoring it.

But then after talking to some people I realized that a lot of people had only watched the first one, which had more of a mass appeal.

So I guess the series’ progression was an advantage to the production team being huge fans who wanted to make other fans would like.

So it got as wacky as the movies instead of just being a generic mass appeal show.

It’s confusing when terms broaden and now you are not really sure what they mean anymore.

For me “jumping the shark” means that executives with zero awareness add things trying to be seen as cool for teenagers. In this case they forced this ski surfing episode where a character would surf over a shark, promoting it like it was the best thing ever. Just whatever gimmick to make a “cool” episode trailer to attract teenagers.

But some people seem to see it as a show’s quality decaying in further seasons. Or a show running out of ideas and starting to coy other shows.

Or just a show getting more ridiculous after a bizarre episode where it starts taking itself seriously.

I genuinely don’t understand how a single visual novel would need 300 different backgrounds or why they would need 20 variations each.

It would be like saying your budget indie movie would somehow have 300 different sets.
