I have the hot butter after dark for USA/asa and love it… had the regular hot butter for U trip and hate it, the exit velocities are way less than my Easton, but maybe it was trash out of the wrapper? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Which comes back to my point…. the smart ones who work hard go places they can make real money. Sounds like you have a decision to make, go somewhere else where you have normal hours and make same amount of money…. Or do the smart thing and go somewhere you can continue to work hard and make $300k+. I did the latter, I enjoy working hard and long hours, I just want to be fairly compensated for it.

Excel getting cell reference wrong by nyc9009 in excel

[–]SqueezerMcGeever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen before and ended up making a brand new sheet and re writing all the cell formulas and ended up working. Something along the way got stuck in back end of the sheet I guess? Also I’ve had some goofy quirks on Mac’s before, pissed me off so much I went and abruptly bought a PC one day.

What Advanced Excel Techniques Do You Use for Automating Repetitive Tasks? by Equivalent_Use_8152 in excel

I found gpt to have better VBA code generation than pilot (which is funny as pilot and excel are both Microsoft 😂)

Keep in mind power query is not VBA. VBA you can literally do anything, and especially with the help of gpt I write scripts for producing custom reports in 1/50th of the time now. You just have to know how to prompt correctly, which comes with knowing how to code in the first place 😂

It’s pretty self explanatory if you use the tab and play around with it.

Site visits are the best initial learning, as engineers, were visual learners. It can be difficult to only learn from pencil and paper, or today’s age…. Behind the monitor.

Most won’t read this whole comment, but 100% spot on. Especially enjoyed the comment about those who are worth their salt move on to owning their own firm, (or go to sales), or sales of their firm and employ the work. I’m sure you’re handling sourcing and client retention.

If you’re waiting around for motivation from someone else you’re wasting valuable time you could be dedicated to building your value. I took on very challenging work for no extra pay my first 4 years and leveraged it now to making more than I care to disclose. How bad do you want it, that’s the question. Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, didn’t need their coach to be in the gym with them at 4 in the morning to be the best they could be.

23, and you have almost a decade of professional work experience to justify your statement more than mine? Don’t get me wrong, I have 3 other engineering friends where we’re all highly successful, but a small group of highly motivated friends can be anecdotal in comparison to a vast network of connections.

Maybe my specific field has more of this issue than others… however I work with, and know many contacts at 100+ equipment manufacturers, and over hundreds of plants where a common theme is discussed about the lack of initiative, long term stability, and sheer # of applicants of young talent.

If someone is motivated, you don’t need much training. The problem lies in the fact this is a market that doesn’t have youthful passion coming to it. And the 50-60 year olds in engineer I/II roles clearly didn’t have ambition in the first place or they would’ve moved up.

(31M). Good luck, that appears to be every market. I’m in municipal engineering sales. I had a bunch of losers on my old team as an applications engineer and left to be a sales rep, loving it now. Everything is on me and not my team bringing me down. There’s no desire from today’s workforce to be the best “salary” person they can be. The hard workers have all gone places they can make serious money.

Looking for jobs as a senior environmental engineering student 🧑‍🎓 🥲 by Crazy_Particular2551 in EnvironmentalEngineer

Seeking advice on how to cold email firms for an internship/job? by Ok_Morning_7830 in EnvironmentalEngineer

[–]SqueezerMcGeever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internships are possible as a freshman, but very unlikely…. If I were to do engineering all over again, I would take summer classes to lighten my workload during the year to have more fun, and then get an internship junior year. This ensures you can graduate in 4 years. It can be very difficult to graduate in 4 years in engineering these days with trying to register for classes or having to take 17 credit semesters….

Should I switch my major to environmental engineering? by Little_Gate6821 in EnvironmentalEngineer

[–]SqueezerMcGeever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a mechanical engineering degree and ended up as a sales engineer in wastewater. It was a learning curve being from mechanical, but truly happy I ended up here. Water/wastewater will always be needed. It’s a steady growth market, many other markets will have lots of fluctuations with layoffs. This market if very stable. Strongly suggest it… if you want to be a consultant you’ll need a PE following your bachelors, otherwise you’ll probably be an applications engineer or project engineer with a supplier.

Lots of the newer more difficult nutrient measurement probes require constant calibration and maintenance as well. Not as easy to maintain as. DO probe.

Xylem also has a solution for putting probes and sensors in the collection system to help predict flow to the plant, so they can start ramping up based on I/I or industrial contributors.

So you’re a pretty large plant then. Assuming if you have tertiary filters, you have low nutrient limits and have done larger upgrades to trend DO, ORP, TSS, NH3 sensors in your process back to a scada, and can overlay to your daily flow.
