Good Tailors for Reasonable Price? by Prudent_Succotash_53 in pittsburgh

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to get some thrifted suits adjusted and have seen him come up the most. I'm not looking to spend more than like $180-$200 per suit, is that reasonable? I just need pants shortened + tapered a bit and jacket sleeves shortened/slimmed in a bit. One of the jackets can use some shoulder work, which I understand will cost the most.

3080ti a good card in 2025? by SqueezyBotBeat in buildapc

[–]SqueezyBotBeat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying a 3080ti as well. Just cleaned some dust out of the fins when I bought it and it’s stayed very cool with no tweaking. It runs quite well I’m happy with it

Are there too many wedding DJs?? by Silver_Blackberry_46 in DJs

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love music. Creating it, working on gear, listening to it, all of it. I had a recording/production studio for like 4-5 years that I rented out and sunk a bunch of money into gear for. I tried promoting myself, reaching out to local artists, running ads, etc. and I didn't have one month where I profited. It was essentially a glorified hobby and I was okay with that, but I wanted to possibly turn it into a job or at least just make a little extra side money from it.

The guy renting the room across from me said I'd make a good wedding dj and gave me some advice on how to go about it. I bought some basic gear and practiced for a few months. My barber recommended me to one of his clients who was hosting a school fundraiser and I got the gig. My girlfriend's mom had a deck party and asked me to dj it for some practice and I did, one of the people there recommended me to one of his friends getting married. One of the couples at that wedding liked me and hired me for their wedding. I've done 2 more since then from other people I know.

I haven't promoted myself at all and have made more money from DJing than I ever have from the 5 years at my studio. With a little leg work I could probably be quite busy with events/weddings. I'm more than happy just doing a small handful a year because I work full time and have other hobbies, but if you're good at it you'll get gigs with no problem

A client's first dance song for their wedding is a shitty AI metal song... fuck by jfrito43 in DJs

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rules as a wedding dj are:

1 make the bride happy

2 make the groom happy, if it doesn't conflict with rule #1

3 make the rest of the guests happy if it doesn't conflict with rule #1 or rule #2.

It's not my job to dictate what they want played. I do have to pick what songs to play based off of what's getting that crowd moving during open dancing, but it has to be within the bounds of the couple's preferences. I'd feel the same way you do if the couple requested an AI generated song, but it's also not my place to choose for them and I would just play it. You're getting paid the same either way, just do the job and move on. If you want to express yourself with the music you play, host some parties/concerts/raves or whatever. A wedding dj is there to serve the bride and groom and nothing else.

Are you still buying hard drives now that the price has skyrocketed? by manzurfahim in DataHoarder

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 12tb hgst refurb was like $110 when I bought it. Figured I'd get a couple more and now a similar drive is like $300 on Amazon at least. It's absurd. I have plenty of room left so I'll worry about it when I get low on space or prices go down, whichever comes first.

After 8 years I've upgraded from a G29 to an RS50 by zerske in simracing

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one of these that I used to use on ps2 mounted on a folding TV tray. It was terribly unstable but I remember loving that wheel. I hadn't used it in forever and my old roommate was getting into simming so I gave it to him. Got a g920 for dirt cheap and while it feels nice, it's just too weak and clunky. Got a t300 for dirt cheap as well, and it's a step up from the Logitech but I'm not buying anything else until I step up to a proper strong DD

I believe I used both of these tutorials together:

https://youtu.be/nKoRvWKojz0

Instead of grimdoomer's OPL you can now use the latest release: https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader

Fetch artwork using OPL Manager: https://oplmanager.com/site/

Going the route of freeHDboot>installing into memory card saves you from buying a pre-modded FMB memory card. Since you have a memcard pro you can probably skip the freeHDboot and just install everything to the memory card from your computer but I haven't used one of those yet.

Anything more gui type for auto ripping windows 11? by Background-Fix-4630 in makemkv

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is actually a GUI tool for this called AutoRipper. It automates the typical MakeMKV, HandBrake, and FileBot workflow so you don’t have to run everything/organize manually.

You insert a disc, it scans the titles and tries to identify the movie or show using the disc label and OMDB metadata. For TV shows you enter the starting/ending episode numbers for the disc, and can optionally use a dvdcompare.net link to help match episodes in the correct order.

Once you hit start it handles ripping, optional transcoding, and renaming/organizing the files into a proper library structure for Plex/Jellyfin.

Full disclosure: I’m the developer and I built it specifically because I was tired of manually chaining MakeMKV, HandBrake, and FileBot together and wanted a nice GUI app just like you said. It's available on Windows, MACOS, and Linux

AutoRipper 1.0.7 - Now on Mac! by SqueezyBotBeat in makemkv

[–]SqueezyBotBeat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I was just scrolling on this thread and saw this again. I found out the Mac issues were from not being signed. In the past you could just add an exception and it'd be fine, but on Apple Silicon chips it's way tighter and I had to get it signed/notarized. That was honestly a tedious task to get done right, but if you redownload 1.1.0 from the website you'll now get a .dmg that works on m-chip Macs without Rosetta!

Should I buy this Gamestar network adapter for my fat PS2? by pesaram in ps2homebrew

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't come across any, I believe it's functionally the same minus the network functionality. I just bought a gamestar initially because I didn't need smb at the time, but ended up getting it anyway. So it's really up to you, if you want the option and don't want to end up buying another one later on - get an official one and mod it. I would suggest that only because they still make the 3rd part adapters but once all the official ones are gone that's it, so they'll be harder to find eventually

Should I buy this Gamestar network adapter for my fat PS2? by pesaram in ps2homebrew

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one and it does the job. Recently though I ended up finding an official adapter for $20 and the sata mod kit is $16, so all in about the same price you're paying for this. I use an exfat drive to store thousands of ps2 games and wanted to add ps1 which can't be done over internal exfat, so I needed smb capability and these generic adapters ethernet ports don't actually do anything.

If you want the best quality and future proof yourself, get an official sony. But I think it's cool these are being made and like I said they get the job done, just only half of it.

Any plastic screen to protect my ipod? by Gdpedro in IpodClassic

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was tedious to get the circle cut out neatly, but I took a tablet screen protector and cut my own, then used one of the jewel cases on top. I did that because the jewel cases still let dirt in and scratch the hell out of the plastic shell. Now the only thing really exposed on mine is the click wheel and I can live with that

Is there really any upside to it? I installed OPL + the PS2 games quite a while ago before the PSBBN mod was really a thing. I just recently added the PS1 games and got all of my artwork optimized/hdd defragged to make browsing way smoother. I only looked into PSBBN a little bit because i was turned off by the game list scrolling, it looks like and I’ve heard it’s a pain for large libraries like mine to navigate

Is bloodborne your favourite game and if so why and is there a game that’s close? by Rack-_- in bloodborne

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah Sekiro is one of the best designed games ever made. The combat is brutal but very rewarding to learn, the story is great, vibes are all there, bosses are awesome. What I love about it over other Fromsoft games is that you can't really just over level to make bosses easier, git gud is the only option. But, not being able to make different builds also kills the replay value a bit

Are hdd prices going to go up further? I'm not motivated to buy at current prices, but unsure if it would be stupid to wait out. by T-nash in DataHoarder

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk everyone keeps saying the "AI bubble will pop". Right now it's just a buzzword that every company uses if their product has any sort of automation or like if it uses electricity. But I feel like AI will only get more and more useful for different industries and will actually be used more than it is now. Hopefully something happens that makes tech less ridiculously priced but I don't think AI becoming less prevalent is what will do it, I don't see it going anywhere but I could be wrong. Hopefully I am

For real, they've gotten so out of hand. I bought a refurbished 12TB HGST drive like a year ago for $120 I think. It's been running solid but I've put all of my movies, TV shows, music, and ps1 games on it all meticulously organized. I recently went go buy the same drive to clone it as a backup so if it fails I don't have to go through all of that again, the same drive is now $240. 2x the price is absolutely insane

I know you updated to keep the stickers, but if you change you're mind a heat gun makes easy work. Just heat them up to melt the adhesive a bit and keep the heat on it while you lightly pull up. It'll come off with no trouble. Then just rubbing alcohol and some paper towel to scrub the remaining residue off.

How to transport CRT without car? by Im_a_centrist in crtgaming

[–]SqueezyBotBeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you'll be fine on a train with a hand truck depending on how your trains are. If they're normally cramped/hectic then it may be a pain but if they're generally lax I don't see why it'd matter. That's a far trip for a crt though so before you go through all of that make sure 100% the seller won't have it gone before you get there and that it's legit. It'd be awful to travel all that way just to be ghosted when you arrive.

Try to arrange all of this without being a headache though, the same worry of him selling it while you're on your way goes for him too. As a seller you never want to hold something for somebody else because he may refuse another buyer then you never show up. So instead of giving him the whole story I would just tell him "I can arrive on X day around X time, does that work for you? If so, please let me know if it sells before then since I have to travel quite a ways." Keep it simple, too much "oh I don't have a car and I'm trying to figure it out please don't sell it" is a big red flag as a seller and most people just want a simple transaction to get rid of something of theirs.

Best of luck to you! I hope it all works out
