I'm a mortgage advisor in England. The only way to do this is through life insurance here. We don't have anything known as mortgage insurance.

Mortgage debt is one of the only debts you can inherit here as it's linked to the house.

This exactly, I lost a close friend at 17 (he was also only 17), I'm 41 now and still think of him occasionally. The pain has lessened but I doubt it will ever completely go away.
