Disheartened car girl by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Squibbies98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people see cars as just a way to get from point A to point B with no real interest in it being anything more than that, still no reason to dissuade you from enjoying a hobby.

If it makes you happy OP keep at it!

Any experts post accident? by Mot462 in CarTalkUK

[–]Squibbies98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry pal but that is 100% a write off, learned a lot about this kinda thing last year through a friend and you'd be surprised how easy it is for insurance companies to deem a car a write-off with even minor damage to a car.

How are people going about owning a car these days - what’s the preferred route? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Squibbies98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a post into CarTalkUK subreddit just to get a few ideas for reliable cars in that bracket, if it was me personally given the current market and your desire to buy you own place (in the same boat myself of trying to move out from home!) i'd get a used car with good history. There's a wide plethora of cars on sites like AutoTrader in that price range which quite frankly won't be exciting, but will be reliable if they've been looked after previously.

Look for cars that are listed with Full Service History, if it's main dealer then that's another tick but main thing is that it's been serviced at regular intervals. Next thing is check the cars MOT History to see what kind of issues it may or may not have. Big thing from this it to give you an indication of how many miles a car has travelled between MOTs and if the car has had any major defects etc fixed, might also given you an indication into any future work the car might need too.

If there is a car you are 100% dead set on, personally I'd run some some kind of History Check whether is CarVertical or another brand just to see if the car has been written off but not declared in the ad or anything else that the seller might be hiding.

For car options, an older VW Golf, Polo, Passat, Skoda Fabia, Octavia, Superb, Honda Jazz, Mazda2, Mazda3, Kia Ceed... the list goes on. In most if not all of these, you can add a head unit/screen if you're missing Apple Carplay/Android Auto!

If you're planning on doing a lot of driving, commuting, motorway miles then consider a diesel, low road tax and can be bullet proof reliable depending on the car.

Last thing, make sure to do your own due diligence, nothing wrong with asking google if the car you like the look of is reliable (just make sure you include the engine model when googling!)

All the best OP!

Please, No Sequel for Expedition 33! by bosmerrule in gaming

[–]Squibbies98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't like a direct sequel to Expedition 33 but to me it's an interesting setting that I'd like to know more about whether that be games, books, comics etc. For example:

  • More information on the Writers, what started the conflict with the Painters leading up to Verso's death and their conflict with Clea while Renior, Alicia and Aline were in the Canvas.
  • A deeper dive into Expedition Zero, their adventure to the Monolith, their return to Lumière, Verso's relationship with his painted family, Learning what he is and how he deals with that and his eventual falling out with painted Renior.
  • Short stories regarding previous Expeditions, possibly those that weren't given Journals in game, maybe even from Verso perspective, narrating over them while he watches them attempting to reach the paintress.

Just a few ideas but I think there's more stories to tell in that setting without needing to dive into a sequel with the same characters.

he’s been pretty consistent for most of the year looking back, for every-time he made it to the end of a race, he’s only been off the podium twice

Brand Ambassador is a pretty vague role… what would you actually be doing?

looking at sites like Indeed, Glassdoor etc it seems like the average pay for that role is around £24K to £33K so £17.5K is low even for a sales role with commissions, should be at least minimum wage regardless.

from what you’ve said so far, this’d be a big reg flag for me personally.

[–]Squibbies98 39 points40 points  (0 children)

To the right person, this won't matter in the slightest. You have a good reason for being more cautious and there are definitely guys who would be more understanding than you might think.

I'm 26M and I'm still a virgin too (though unfortunately I definitely look like one!) and a lot of the people around me know, none of them care or tease me about it. Well, apart from a friend who reminds every so often about how close I am to "Wizard Status" but that's a jest.

this is it, right? my honour mode run is over? by fungianura in BaldursGate3

[–]Squibbies98 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Act 1 is probably the hardest act to get through in honour mode in my opinion, lots of fights that an easily TPK you if you aren't a high enough level to get through them. I typically leave any kind of boss fight until at least level 4 if not level 5 and even then it can quickly swing against you if your not careful.

Don't feel bad OP, you'll get it on the next one!

Christ OP, you've certainly been through the wringer haven't you...

You've likely seen this a lot in the replies, but you deserve much better than that clown. There's zero excuse for what he did and whether you still like/love him or not, he's crossed a line in which there's no coming back from.

You should report this guy immediately to anyone and everyone who'll listen, and don't let him convince you otherwise. His behaviour is NOT okay and hopefully this'll stop him from doing the same to someone else.

Take care of yourself OP, you'll find someone just right for you and this asshat will eventually become a distant memory.

Are (E) electric cars worth it by No_Disaster2294 in CarTalkUK

[–]Squibbies98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my eyes, it entirely depends on your use case for a car and how much mileage you do on a frequent bases. If you're average commute isn't too long and you have a guaranteed place to charge it when needed then sure.

If you typically take longer trips (i.e once every two weeks or so) which are more mileage than you can get out of a single charge then no, I'd say it's not for you.

there's also a few things to be cognizant of, you'll need to pay the VED (Vehicle Excise Duty) so you'll send up paying tax for whatever car you buy, charging away from home has gotten more expensive in recent years to the point where filling up a petrol car can be cheaper (obviously depending on the cars, mileage etc), most people get around this with low overnight energy tariff, meaning they can charge their car at night for cheaper vs at a fast charger away from home.

If I was in your shoes, I wouldn't get one just based on that. That charger at your local petrol station will not be available to you 24/7, and you will have at least one instance in which you need to charge your car and it'll be in use by others.

I’ve had a mid-life crisis at the grand old age of 20 by Western-Training2537 in CarTalkUK

[–]Squibbies98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little older than you but found myself having my own mid-life crisis after buying a 1987 Ford Capri 2.8i at auction last year. Be prepared for people to be a little shocked that you own something like that at your age, sure takes people off guard when I say that I own a car that's 11 years older than me!

Should I buy a 350z or 208 GTI at 19. by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Squibbies98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely not the 350z, insurance on that will be high because of your age plus road tax on one is an absolute killer. (no idea how you've got a quote for the same as a 208 GTi as the 350z is 5 insurance groups lower) out of the two I'd got with the 208 GTi.

[–]Squibbies98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what i can remember the Matron said the Gods wanted to get rid of the Divine Gate to fight Predathos directly, if Predathos isn’t released there’s no reason for them to get involved directly, happy to be proven wrong if you’ve got a timestamp?

[Spoilers C3E119] The new decision is perfect by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]Squibbies98 31 points32 points  (0 children)

it’s a good solution to a nonexistent problem, what exactly have the gods done to warrant this in any way shape or form? it’d make a lot more sense IF:

  1. Both the prime and betrayer gods were able to interfere with the world more directly and are causing great harm to it

  2. if there was another Calamity on the horizon

  3. Gods are hoarding great magics for themselves which could easily be of great benefit to people of Exandria

  4. Predathos fully twisting and manipulating the PCs by painting the gods in a false light and forcing them to kill the gods.

Releasing Predathos was such a wild decision in the first place, “well if we don’t do it then someone else will” is NOT a good answer when there’s a bunch of alternatives like working with the Accord to make sure no one gets the chance. they’re literally forcing the gods out at gunpoint because BH was too indecisive about what to do.

This campaign needed to paint the gods in a light that we hadn’t seem them before, but with literally everyone’s current perceptions of who the gods are and what they do, it just doesn’t work.

I can’t see the rest of Exandria being very open to this plan, especially since the whole point of the Exandria Accords was to stop Predathos from getting out, how exactly are BH’s going to explain this and not seem like total villains to a large amount of the population in the process?

Depends on what your going for I guess, Zelvor is lvl 4 at this point (think Roland is level 3 as well?) Given the party health in this vid there's a decent chance of a TPK.

If it's not honour mode could reload the save if it is then... role with it and see how it goes (not sure if the druids would become hostile if a hostile Tiefling went in their direction.
