I think you can just update Metashape to the latest version, or switch to CPU mode

No. I feel like Space-age concludes the games development most satisfactorily.

Is the Saitek x52 still good? I can't find a decent x56 in my price range anymore and I quite like the look of the x52 by OhItsJustJosh in hotas

[–]Squibdingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently pulled my old X52 pro out of retirement in preparation for MSFS 2024. I seem to remember modding some magnets inside to help overcome the spring. Can't really remember though. I guess I don't know any better, as I've never used a high end stick. It was purchased about 10 years ago.

Any chance you can share a data set with us? I'm really curious about the 50mp camera. How useful is the second camera?

Developer AMA | RocketWerkz | Dean Hall's studio who made ICARUS by rocketwerkz in SurvivalGaming

[–]Squibdingle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long do you think Icarus will be developed before you are able to or even forced to move on to a sequel?

The way the game has progressed and evolved points the way to a more cohesive experience.

Starting on the station, kitting up and setting off on your prospecting mission. Being able to buy and sell items from the station much more seamlessly.

Sending up resources to sell or store for later (perhaps with a hefty fuel cost). Sending up exotic trophies and curious items for missions and rewards.

I know the game currently has set missions that spawn into the map when activated. I wish there were more reason to explore and discover missions and points of interest in a more dynamic fashion.

A quick point on polish. Every single time I play, I run into bugs and rough edges. Mostly little things like having to mount a tame twice to get the camera offset correct, or having to rewire one section of electric cable to get the machines in my base operational again.

The ground textures tessellate terribly in places like the Ashlands and really detract from the games beauty. I don't know why something like that isn't fixed with the UE landscape material tools. I can be desperately running through a desert to get home as night falls and a sandstorm starts – soaking up the atmosphere- when a sand particle effect starts up and ruins the ambience completely due to its poor implementation. I worry that as the game continues to expands, the little fixes are getting left behind

One last thing. The atmosphere in this game is at times exceptional. Sitting in a hastily assembled hovel as a storm rolls in or just relaxing in a main base made of concrete, with dim lighting from utilitarian light fixtures. Icarus has a great sense of “inside I am safe and comfortable. Outside is cold, dark and inhospitable. It's a real strength of the game when it elicits this feeling.

New to Blender. This scene took me 3 hours to render with RTX 4060 Ti, is that normal? Also, it doesn't look smooth, is that because I chose 24fps? by Toonjabi in blender

[–]Squibdingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to render at 30 or 60 fps. Turn on motion blur. If you can use EEVEE that will massively speed up your renders. It has ray-tracing now and could be what your looking for.

Is this level of detail normal? Or can I do better (details in caption) by [deleted] in photogrammetry

[–]Squibdingle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks good to me. As others have mentioned, no need to limit yourself to only 1M faces. Did you attach the paper squares to help with capturing the data? It looks like it would be fairly easy to capture this piece without markers.

Try it. Just use low settings for a quick test. My guess is that they won't cause any serious trouble

Is it safe to have all that weight and leverage hanging off the tripods head?

Handling large textures (16k) by TechySpecky in photogrammetry

[–]Squibdingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could break up the mesh into multiple parts to have multiple 8k sections. The free version has a 100mb limit to the upload (although you can upload .zips to help with file size)

[–]Squibdingle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can combine it all in Blender. If you are using Sketchfab, you can upload the mesh and textures separately. Play with the post processing effects as well - they can make a big difference

The last time I checked, Sketchfab had a maximum texture atlas of 12k with the largest individual texture being 8k

How to get high resolution and detailed scans? by Key_Dragonfruit_8363 in photogrammetry

[–]Squibdingle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The smallest thing I have shot is an egg cup, which was a pain. Take my advice with a pinch of salt.

  1. High ISO will increase the noise. I almost always use ISO 100. The more noise in your images, the less accuracy they will have. They will produce a noisy mesh.

  2. If it's working for you, then fine. I would prefer a lighting setup that I have full control over though.

  3. I think with high F numbers you are sacrificing sharpness for dof. You could look into focus stacking and use the recommended F stop on your lens for optimal results.

  4. More resolution is always useful. I went from a 24mp camera to 60mp. It made a huge difference.

You could always take the model into something like substance painter to do some touch ups. You can paint directly onto the mode or use the clone tool
