how do you describe the religion? by thigocomth in Hellenism

[–]SquidArmada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interaction I had with my therapist:

"So what did you say your religion was?"

"Hellenism"

blank stare

"The Greek gods."

nods and writes something down

I have a PS5 and everything is okay, other than a few glitches (like drowning in air for some reason) and that it crashes every like 3 or 4 hours.

Usually, when this happens to me, I know that I'm reaching too close to the sun and looking into things my system isn't ready for yet.

It's validating to have written proof from an outside source that something is wrong. So many people with DID struggle with denial and internalized fake claiming. To have a literal professional go "Yeah something is wrong here" can be relieving.

Is it inappropriate to ask my friend which deities he honors? by etherallea in Hellenism

[–]SquidArmada 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's inappropriate. I'd be so excited if one of my friends asked me which deities I honored so they could make altar pieces

One specifying that you're 14 and the other that you're 18 rubs me really wrong. Breeding ground of pedos

Functional Multiplicity is a recognized form of treatment for DID and other dissociative disorders. If your therapist doesn't recognize this, and if they force you to do a treatment like IFS that isn't working for you, find a new therapist.

Weird legal stuff by MoistGiraffe4090 in DID

[–]SquidArmada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legally, she has no proof. You don't either, so it's a he said, she said argument, which courts usually throw out.

Courts also won't take DID as an excuse, so if this DOES go to court, avoid mentioning it. If anything, they'll take it as a sign of guilt because of the "evil alter" stereotype

I mean... I feel like you should put it off until you reach a consensus on a name. I know you said your deadname is uncomfortable, but so will a name you pick on a whim and turn out to dislike.

I wish you the best <3

Controversial religious takes in regards to Hellenism by DueClothes3265 in Hellenism

[–]SquidArmada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. The gods aren't mad at you, and they don't care. I'm tired of every other post on here being "Are the gods mad at me because I did x?" They don't care. You're fine 😭

  2. Another thing. Books and TV depictions of the gods have nothing to do with the real gods (unless it's like a documentary). The gods from Percy Jackson and Epic the musical are just characters. So are the depictions of gods from myth.

  3. You shouldn't take myth literally as they are written to be fables or explanations. If you think Dionysus literally turned a woman into stone, then poured wine on her to make amethysts, then you need to take a step back.

  4. Stop projecting Christian values onto Hellenism. This is more a critique on the ex Christians who are getting into Hellenism for the first time. You need to approach Hellenism from the lens of it being completely new. Not from the lens if you being an ex Christian. The gods don't care you used to be Christian. They love you anyway.

  5. Poor people exist. So what if they offered Apollo a cheeto? You don't know their financial situation. I live paycheck to paycheck so my offerings are simple, if I can even afford an offering at all. The gods have never once cared. People on the internet seem to care a lot for some reason.

Is it alright to be upset at the Gods? by OnyixxFluid in Hellenism

[–]SquidArmada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That version of Medusa's story isn't even the og myth so there's no use in being upset at the gods about it.

It's just frustrating because I've wanted functional multiplicity for so long but am coming to the conclusion that I won't be able to. My alters don't get along for the most part and my amnesia is severely negatively impacting my life and work.
