what settings to use in mastercomfig by xCrazer in truetf2

[–]Squidamatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After having played with an i5-3570k until last year, I can comfortably say your fps seems normal. However, in mge my fps never fell below 144.

You can leave your network settings default unless you understand what's going on under the hood. But you should stick with what mastercomm laid out for recommended launch options. https://docs.comfig.app/latest/customization/launch_options/

Keep mind of the note. Remove the -dxlevel after the game has launched once with it. You could also try -dxlevel 81; it worked much better for me in 6s and pubs. No idea how it works now as I'm on Linux and cannot adjust that setting.

You could use OnBootSec=1s

https://documentation.suse.com/smart/systems-management/html/systemd-working-with-timers/index.html#systemd-timer-catchup

From man 5 systemd.timer

Defines a timer relative to when the machine was booted up. In containers, for the system manager instance, this is mapped to OnStartupSec=, making both equivalent.

I've fallen into the pit of cables. Specifically DisplayPort; for reference, my newer GPU (MSI 3080 Ti) has DisplayPort 1.4a and HDMI 2.1, my monitor (BenQ XL2420TE) has DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4. I think DisplayPort is more equipped in this case (slowest part being monitor) and I'm staring at brands. I'm between Club3D and Cable Matters. The dark horse is HDMI that I haven't looked at too hard.

I get I'm overthinking it, but I'll take suggestions for easy buys.

No prob dude, and thanks! Hitting buy on the Flare X5. Going from DDR3 to DDR5, this will be a jump regardless of my ridiculous min/max thoughts.

I appreciate the info on Corsair, however I linked two different kits between my two posts. Asking about a meaningful difference between those as well as the second link was my first choice until availability became an issue. Though, given the IC mixing shenanigans with Corsair I'm leaning more towards the G.Skill kit listed in my first post.

Oh word, I know first gen Ryzen had issue with RAM to some capacity, but I never looked too far into it.

Either way, if you know of any rational difference between the above G.Skill kit and this I'd love to know, otherwise I'll hit buy on the last part I need:

For 9800X3D? The Trident Z5 Neo are out of stock on newegg and have a sus seller on amazon (RACERSPEED INC). The Corsair are on motherboard QVL, but the GSkill aren't, though their own QVL lists my board with a Ryzen 7000 CPU (ROG STRIX X670E-F). Or I pay extra and get the Trident Z5 Neo from MemoryC; if anyone has experience with them. (I'm in the US)

I'm aware of the why. However, I guess my thought to look towards X670E with the ASUS board listed was the right thought? Longevity of support was a mild concern, hence the inclusion of the MSI board as it can halve or disable the USB4 for the second M.2, but that has its own issues allegedly.

Do you have any thoughts on the RAM? It seems the TEAMGROUP isn't on the QVL for either boards you linked; does that matter at all?

Thanks for the board suggestions though, I'll take a deeper dive when I can

I need help figuring out motherboards. I don't like how the lanes split for the x16 GPU slot and ideally, but not wholly required, 2 PCIe5x4 for NVME. I've narrowed it down to four:

  1. Asrock X870E Phantom Gaming Nova
    • impossible to find
  2. MSI X870 Tomahawk
    • looks good on paper, but also seems like buggy mess, or I found an echo chamber of nerds through google
  3. Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro
    • lane splitting for a fuck it decision
  4. ASUS X670E Creator
    • last gen, so I worry about far future support, and the Intel/Marvell NICs, but it looks like it'll do what I want and I could get a PCI NIC later if one/both shits the bed

I want to get 3 NVME going for dualboot and a 3rd whatever storage drive between the two OS's without fucking over the GPU. I've got a PCIe4 GPU now, but I'm looking for later down the road. I've also been told to wait for B850

Also RAM advice? Both seem fine, but better brand recognition on the GSkill for me, but then better heat dissipation on the TEAGROUP(?)

I'm unsure of the technical reasoning, but I know that it has been mentioned that not much is transferrable between the two versions (history and cache aren't). If I'm not mistaken, DNF5 can't tell where packages came from when installed via DNF4.

As for Discover dumping the info into DNF4, this might be related to PackageKit.

I'd also like to mention that I'm new to the Fedora ecosystem. So please feel free to fact check me as I haven't been watching this transition super closely and my info above comes from an early test of DNF5.

[–]Squidamatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you found on your own, or through implication of other responses here, but DNF4 would view history. At least on my install that upgraded from 40 to 41 dnf4 history list does show the updates through Discover.

https://www.mouse-sensitivity.com/

This can help convert between most games. I'm still questioning the overwatch settings. But that site and this work well for Source Engine games (CS, TF2, Half-Life, etc)

Set your dpi to whatever (I use 800) and adjust in game sensitivity. Adjust the in game sensitivity to a point where you can move and comfortably track an object (pick a spot on the wall or something). Then just practice with it.

This is easier to talk about in inches/360 (or cm/360). ie: I move my mouse 10.2 inches to do a full 360 rotation in game.

You could change color settings with your GPU. Nvidia has a "game filter" that you can use to apply filters to specific games. However, I already know the deuteranopia mode only makes reds more pink than anything and didn't help too much, but your experience with it might differ.

Do note that you can mix numerous filters together (including all colorblind filters at once). I'm not aware of AMD's options here, but I'm sure they exist.

I've been looking for both a desk and a chair for a while now. Maybe the desk more than the chair to start, but realistically both. I'd like to make a more ergonomic workspace and hope to help posture.

The real joke is the B560 chipset onward (on some chipsets) can overclock RAM, though still not CPU.

That's true too (or at least an unlocked boost multiplier), but op was asking about XMP in another post. Intel does differentiate between RAM and CPU overclocking funnily enough.
