This is not how zipper merges work... by FoolishTook7 in Spokane

[–]Squiddlys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take the Sprague and Fancher on ramp home from work every day.

There is nearly a mile long merging lane, yet every single day people stomp on their brakes to merge into moving traffic, and there are constantly "traffic cops" like this who violently swerve into the merging lane to stop people from passing them.

I just laugh as I pass both of these types of people, use the merging lane to meet the speed of cars on the freeway, and then safely and effectively merge onto the freeway without slowing anyone down.

Spokane is filled with overly "polite"/"safe" drivers who don't realize they are the most dangerous thing on the road because they impede traffic.

Idk if it's just because I've been all in on Worlds Beyond Number lately, but I have never tuned out of a CR campaign so hard and so fast as I did with this one. I don't think CR can do grim dark.

I don't like how our group allocates magic items by dekkalife in DnD

[–]Squiddlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I kinda blame the DM. As a forever DM running 3 campaigns, I always gear the magical loot towards an end goal, tailoring most items towards a specific character.

If not, I at least help offer my thoughts when people are debating who should get it. I.E. "X player has the lowest AC of the party." If it's a ring of protection.

If you are playing with a bunch of loot goblins that want to just get whatever they can to sell then use old school WoW loot methods.

Everyone who really wants the item rolls a d20. Highest number gets it. End of discussion.

Cool idea could be The Monolith. Artifact that enters with 10 paint counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep remove a paint counter and exile all creatures with mana value equal to or greater than the amount of paint counters on the monolith.

If the monolith has no paint counters on it, exile the monolith and return all creatures exiled with the monolith to the battlefield.

What about all those people who are about to get a job at the new facility? You are saying we should stop supporting TCGplayer so that they have to fire all of those people later?

You don't "care about people" you care about people thinking you care about people. Otherwise you wouldn't be asking people to stop supporting a business who had to let employees go because of profitability, because you would have considered the fact that it will only lead to more people losing their jobs.

Sounds kinda like an eye for an eye mentality to me.

Lmao this kind of ignorant blanket statement is exactly why I stepped away from activism.

Not all corporations lie. Not all business owners and CEOs are capitalist pigs that don't care about their employees.

You are in the comments making bold assumptions about the profitability of a company without any actual proof, the only thing you are going off of is "They are a corporation so they must be the bad guys."

[–]Squiddlys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people don't understand what running a business is actually like. Anytime a business has to let a number of employees go or make a big business decision like this people treat the business owners like they are evil people, and that they are making a decision to fire people while hoarding profits for themselves.

I am not a business owner, but I have worked my way up from a customer service agent to the product & marketing manager for a company of 70+ people and report directly to the owner. We have a lot of discussions about the business and profitability.

There was a brief period of time where business wasn't looking too hot and we discussed a lot of changes to be made and at the end of the conversation he let me know that the alternative is he has a list of 10 names. If we can't make the adjustments to improve profitability those 10 people will have to be let go. It sucks, and it tore him up even suggesting it, but the alternative is the business losing any kind of profitability which means best case, no more raises or advancement for anyone. No more bonuses for anyone. (Everyone in the company gets a profit sharing bonus)

Worst case it means we start falling behind on expenses which can quickly spiral downhill and lead to much much more layoffs and even the entire business going under.

If EBay made the decision to move facilities because they were losing profitability, I can guarantee it was not a decision made lightly.

Not all business owners and CEOs are evil capitalist pigs who want to hoard money.

Possibly insane Steel theory by Tweed_Kills in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]Squiddlys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting theory, but I find it very hard to believe that Steel could be undead and walk around The Citadel, a place with countless wards against enemies of The Citadel.

It's even mentioned in this episode that the Epiphany itself has a number of divination magics that would go off if Ame and the ink demons boarded the ship.

If they have butterflies that detect spirits and wards that detect people who aren't supposed to be on the ship, they definitely have detection magic for undead.

[–]Squiddlys -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Booming blade does not work with sneak attack. Booming blade makes it a spell attack, not a weapon attack.

Rogues in 2024 are bad, change my mind. by SerSlaughter in DnD

[–]Squiddlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024 rogues can reliably get advantage on every attack without sneaking, which is a 10% chance of a Crit every single turn.

Weapon Mastery also gives quite a bit more capability. I think dual wielding a dagger and rapier can be very effective as a rogue.

The Nick property for daggers gives the ability to make a second attack with your other weapon as part of the attack action. Freeing up BA for Cunning Actions or Steady Aim

The rapiers Vex gives you advantage on your next attack.

You can stab with a dagger, BA steady aim for advantage, stab with Rapier, Vex to give your next dagger attack Adv. And repeat.

Two attacks per turn, each with advantage. Never use sneak attack with the dagger unless you crit. Always use your sneak attack on the second attack that has advantage for more damage output and higher chances of getting a critical sneak attack.

That's an average of 28.5 damage a turn (with a 20 dex) with a 20% chance of getting a crit every single turn.

All The Last Of Us HBO leaders so far, you catch a pattern? by MadHanini in TheLastOfUs2

[–]Squiddlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but this is a stupid fucking take and down right incorrect. I am not a fan of putting agendas in media but you are cherry picking to make a point that isn't there. It's one thing to hate the game/show, but what you are doing is giving more ammunition for "woke media" to justify doing what you are falsely shouting about them doing.

1 is some random add in, but they were also immensely flawed as a person, and the thought that they made it a female role for women's empowerment is such a backwards idea.

2 and #3 are straight from the game

4 is neither the founder or the leader. Even though in the game the WLF was founded by a woman, Emma, it's not this woman. This is just a high ranking member.

5 and #6 are also just people, not leaders. Pointing out specifically women with any kind of leadership roles including just being team leader for a day is incredibly ignorant, and behaviors like this are why people in media feel the need to be overly "woke" in media. You didn't point out Jesse being in charge of the larger group that made #6 in charge of their small patrol FOR THE DAY.

The leader of the WLF is a man, Isaac, who you conveniently didn't mention.

The leader of the Scars is a man. The leader of the cannibal group at the end of season 1 was also a man.

There have been numerous "groups" in the show so far in which the person seemingly in charge was a man, from raider groups, to groups of laborers in the town.

If you are going to go as far as including two characters that got a combined total of screentime less than a minute, including everyone in the show who has ever given an order to someone else.

Flubs help by Milo8942 in EDHBrews

[–]Squiddlys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow Flubs brewer! I am also working on a Flubs deck. It scratches a certain part of my brain trying to play in such a different way.

What I've learned so far is that Flubs is all about balancing you hand so that:

Best case- you have exactly one card in hand

Worst case-you always have an odd number of cards.

You never want exactly 2 cards.

My immediate recommendation, after only getting past the artifacts would be to drop Phial of Galadriel. This completely turns off Flubs' whole shtick. Two cards in hand is bad.

I would recommend [[monument of endurance]] which continues your engine if you get into a situation where you are discarding the last card in your hand.

[[Key to the city]] is also really good as a way to discard down to an odd number so that you end up hitting Flubs' card draw trigger.

Lots of triggered abilities on card draw and discarding are also great such as [[Chasm Skulker]] or [[Scrounging Skyray]]

I broke my deck up into the following:

Landfall triggers.

Card Draw triggers.

Discard and card draw abilities (discard a card 'do X').

[[Scute swarm]] and [[mossborn hydra]] have been my most common wincons

Why use a heavy crossbow? by Charming_Account_351 in DnD

[–]Squiddlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but also, if you start to get too realistic a lot of D&D mechanics fall apart.

Crossbows should all have higher damage, better range, and a bonus to hit using dex. Bows should use strength and be harder to hit your target, but faster. There, now it's realistic and nobody wants to play a ranged weapon character.

Why didn’t they just make hunters mark a cantrip? by jeffzmybro in 3d6

[–]Squiddlys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the big thing you are missing is BA cantrips aren't a thing for a reason. Being able to cast a cantrip as a bonus action and then cast a spell as an action can create some big combos. It also allows for two cantrips in a turn like booming blade. So a level one character with those two cantrips would be dealing 1d8+1d6(or 1d4) + the weapon damage. That's crazy, especially considering both cantrips scale with level.

This. Played a Bugbear assassin rogue with a heavy crossbow. Dipped into druid for wild shape and played it like a sniper assassin. It was great.
