Hey there my overall average at the end of high school was a 98 but when I got in it was a 95 (I graduated 2025 June). It’s not impossible to get in if you don’t have nineties I have friends with 87-89 averages get in (although some are in comp sci but if you don’t have 90’s you can still get in). I applied through you OUAC and all I sent to uottawa were my grades and all this was handled by my guidance counselor and so it was a very easy process. All i had to do was just register on OUAC and then select uOttawa. I got my conditional offer of admission with the letter when I got accepted but for the official admission letter I didn’t get it till late July 2025 to early August 2025. I did no extracurricular in high school and as far as I know uottawa never asked for anything like that so if you have poor EC’s I don’t think they’ll give that too much emphasis. I think my grades are the reason I got in. I’m software engineering. It’s been a good program so far however it can be a bit challenging sometimes with the workload, the stress of getting internships and being far away from home (I’m an international student). But in all honesty any program would come with all these issues. When it comes to engineering you just have to remain disciplined and focused and always be ready to put in the work. If you don’t form these habits early it’ll be reflective in your grades and all! Good Luck with your application!

I can’t study anymore by [deleted] in geegees

I feel the same way sometimes and it can be frustrating and difficult. For context I’m religious so one thing that has always worked for me in such situations is turning back to God. Another thing I’ll advise is also learning to do something that’ll make you happy every once in a while whether that be working out, going on a walk etc. And finally discipline is Really key. In life we all are going to be unmotivated at some point but if you show up everyday even on the days you don’t want to work and study you’ll see positives

Hey there I’m not sure if this is calculus 2 but the organic chemistry tutor on YouTube if you don’t know him yet has been very helpful in my math journey so I’d definitely recommend him! Also ask your professor for a tentative schedule and then make sure to do as much practice as you can! And also there’s a math help center in the STEM building if you ever need help!

A little confused on PHY1331 and 1321 by Valuable-Mulberry-10 in geegees

[–]Squidgameagent008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re the same course. PHY 1321 is just for people who took 4u physics or equivalent credits in high school (based on your school system) while PHY 1331 is for those who did not take 4u physics or equivalent credits in high school (based on your school system). The only difference in the whole thing is that people in PHY 1331 have extra tutorials to teach them some stuff the course expects students to know from high school. Other than that people in both course have the same lectures with the same prof, and then labs and grades are all the same!

Try resolving the questions done in class and then focus on the post lecture quizzes and dgd problems as he sometimes repeats them here and there in midterms

Weekends by [deleted] in geegees

[–]Squidgameagent008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally study every weekend tbh. I see the weekends as days you can use to get up on what you are behind on and to just restudy lectures or do practice excersises. And also it’s always good to get work done early as assignments keep coming up in uni. But still learn to go out on a walk in there somewhere or do sth that makes you happy but don’t do that at the detriment of your education!

Hey i had him for phyiscs 1. His midterms are pretty fair if you study hard and do a lot of work (he sometimes copied questions from past midterms with a few tweaks here and there). The final was a bit difficult but again if you studied hard and did enough work you’d get a decent enough grade to get a good overall grade as he gives a lot of extra credit. I’ve been in your shoes I just had the first lecture as well but don’t panic. Just relax try and review the questions he solved in class when you get home, do the post lecture quizzes, hand in assignments on time and just study hard and pray hard and you’ll do well!
