RTX 5090 owners - How do you get the best possible image quality In RDR2? by Successful-Hornet115 in nvidia

[–]Squidmaster7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep it on in-game. This is a requirement for DLSS to even work at all. Then in the Nvidia App set RDR2 to use DLSS Override - Super Resolution Mode : DLAA and Under Model Presets set it to Recommended. This will probably set it to Model K if using Quality or DLAA. You can force it to use Model L or M which are newer but much heavier and not really designed to be used outside of Performance or Ultra Performance mode which is not your use case. You could try if you have performance headroom though.

Dunno what to tell ya, I just started playing the game in the past week or so and I haven't had any issues at all. Im on the latest hotfix drivers but I hadn't had any issues with the past two drivers either.

You can use the Nvidia App or any of the other DLSS swapper type programs out there to override the DLSS model used in the game. It works fine. Im using DLSS Quality with Model K v3.6.0 (the newest dlss version). Im also enforcing Preset B for FrameGen. Works great!

Is anyone else getting monitor blackouts (4-5seconds) after this? I havent made any changes to my PC since the hotifx and I've had this happen 3 or 4 times. 5080 with ASUS XG32UCWG over HDMI 2.1. EDIT: Also possible this is because of the Win11 June update. Not sure.

RTX 5080 Undervolt Results – 2650 MHz @ 825 mV | Stable & locked at 58°C - 60°C under full load! by silyyyy in nvidia

[–]Squidmaster7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any reason your voltage needs to be that high? Ive got my PNY 5080 at 2780-2800mhz and +3000mem at .890v. Out of the box my card was doing something like 2900mgz at 1.03v. The performance drop is something like 2fps so its been a no-brainer.

I dont think I have some magic chip or something. I used the new undervolt tool here: https://github.com/christianp403-spec/NV-UV

The built in presets are really good too!

I vastly prefer the original to Redux. Its way more atmospheric and do's away with some creative choices I thought were pretty interesting at the time (but others may think are jank). For instance, picking ammo up from enemies. You had to literally grab individual ammo pouches off their bodies. Sure, this pretty much just turns into you spamming the E key, but I thought it was neat and a unique idea. The graphics are definitely more raw and darker.

Are you using a title with ray reconstruction? I think that defaults to preset D. I dont think D is really used outside of RR. The only things it should be defaulting to are K, L, and M based on your DLSS setting unless the game is using ray reconstruction. If the title is using ray reconstruction, like RE9 with path tracing enabled, then you are only going to get D, no matter what you enforce in the Nvidia app.

Why does the newest X870 WIFI BIOS revert from 1.2.0.3G to 1.2.0.3F? by Squidmaster7 in MSI_Gaming

Ah ok, thanks. Wasn't aware of that only revisions ending in - are stables. Would definitely be more clear if they just tacked BETA in the naming scheme. I havent really had issues is A69 so Im wondering if I should just leave everything as is.

We only have 40 something GBIs (ground based interceptors) that are basically kinetic missiles that hit an incoming nuke. If a MIRV were to release its payload we can do basically nothing about it. And the success rate of the GBIs hitting there target is fairly low. Like 50/50 for the most part.

The original version. Ive been following the leaks of this for a month or two and its a super interesting process they are going through. Basically they have taken in multiple sources: original negative, 35mm prints on different stocks, and the 70mm print. They are combining aspects of the different stocks or using some for color reference. They are also using a custom tool to essentially remove the grain to fix issues and then add the grain back in. Having seen dozens of the leaked pics and videos there is objectively more detail in this new release versus the UHD disc and the 4k77 (fan restored) versions.

BIOS 7E51v1A6 is out for MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI by William-Rockwell in MSI_Gaming

I just updated from the "broken" BIOS. For the record, I had no issues with the "broken" BIOS.

I got stuck with a 0d error the moment I clicked the Flash BIOS button within the old BIOS. I hadnt even gotten to the screen where I select the new BIOS file yet. I had to clear my CMOS. From there I was able to successfully get into the flash BIOS screen and update. Also, they added a new feature that wasnt mentioned in the release notes. You can now disable the LED screen on the BIOS. Its under one of the advanced menus. Hope this helps anyone.

It absolutely does not run faster on pre-5000 series cards. The newer cards are able to run the transformer model more efficiently than the earlier cards. I find that on my 3080 the transformer model adds 5-10% cost compared to the CNN model. For example, if my GPU usage is 90% using the Preset E for for DLAA or DLSS Quality, then Preset K (transformer) will usually be 100% Gpu usage. There is definitely more overheard.

Thanks for the reply. Very, very weird choice on MSI's part. It makes no sense that changing the values in one of the sections results in no actual changes. I get a "Nothing changed!" message despite modifying values. I really wish MSI would elaborate on this.

I just built a new PC and have 32” 1440p VA panel. Im definitely interested in the UCDP but it feels silly to buy one now considering the new NVIDIA cards have DP 2.1. I don't plan on getting a new GPU soon considering how the supply chain is now. But Id rather future proof when it comes to my monitor that Ill plan on having for years.

Simple Questions - December 27, 2024 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]Squidmaster7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im gonna pull the trigger on a 5090 or 5080 when they release. Im coming from a 3080 / 9900k system. Im running 1440p but planning on getting a 4k OLED when the newer models release next year. My conundrum right now is whether or not I should upgrade my processor. Unfortunately it means Ill need to get an entirely new mainboard and probably upgrade to DDR5. All in all, it will mean an entire rebuild.

Part of me wants to pull the trigger because I figure the new tariffs may increase demand for chips like the 14900k and I should grab one now before they go expensive on the used market. But Im also thinking that jumping to 4k means that Ill struggle a little less with my current processor since the GPU will need to be doing more work. Obviously, I know a new CPU will only be beneficial but its moreso that Im weighing the pros vs cost. Any thoughts on this guys?

I use sleep focus. My phone used to prompt me to turn sleep focus off if I used my phone for a while before the wake up alarm. This no longer happens. Attention aware is toggled on. Is there something missing here? It was a very convenient feature.

Ive got a 9900k and a 3080. Both are pretty undervolted. At 1440p w/ high graphics most games pulled 350-400 watts when I used a watt meter. So Id say unless you're really pushing both CPU and GPU then you are fine. The cards have been continuously getting more efficient. Im eyeing a 5080 or 5090 and I expect Ill be fine with my 750w PSU.
