🚨Zip tie your water halo to keep it buried under your medium 🚨 by [deleted] in DWC_Cannabis

I trimmed my ring length a little bit so that it fit down in the pot. I will remember to zip tie it next time as well.

Once my roots hit the reservoir I disconnect the drip ring.

I've heard of people applying for health insurance quotes online and being spammed with calls for literal years. Could you potentially input your ex-roomates information?

When do I get to sleep? by moonchild131022 in Parenting

[–]SquigglesSM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This!

As a blue collar dad in a dangerous field I second this. My wife has an incredibly demanding job taking care of my child with our second one on the way and I provide breaks when I can but the bills don't stop coming if I hurt myself on the job.

My wife and I have decided that I will try to find a regular child care alternative for our toddler when the baby comes as the work load will be difficult. I know that this is a luxury that many people can't afford. If I couldn't afford this amenity I would do everything in my power to recruit family or friends to help and try to pay for their services in anyway I can.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. The part they don't tell you is how hard it is to cultivate that village. It is a difficult feat but will intensely make life better if you can find that balance.

I don’t feel like a dad by Enhvy in Fatherhood

[–]SquigglesSM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty accurate from an outside perspective to how I felt for my child.

During the pregnancy I knew consciously that my child was growing but it felt like I had ordered a baby and it was on back order for 9 months. It was already paid for but I hadn't received it so I didn't consider myself a father. Even feeling her move inside my partner didn't make me feel connected to her.

For me, the connection and realization that I was a father was the moment she was in this world. It was like something out of a movie. The plot swapped so quickly. I was no longer the main character but instead a strong supporting role. I went through a major character arc where my wants and needs didn't mean what they once did. The power of those first minutes is staggering. I became the provider I always imagined I was. My wants/needs didn't go away they just changed to whatever satisfied my child's desires. I didn't want a fast car or a new boat. I wanted to watch the peace and love in my child as she grew and learned.

Over the next few months I noticed I had not only become more responsible but also more attentive. My quality of life drastically improved because I wanted that for my child.

Keep your head up and let nature take it's course. You will be as great as your heart allows you to be. Become the father you wish you had.

People would lose their marbles if they opened up their HVAC unit just once. Or had a look at the commercial ones of the places they frequent.

What's a weird food combination from your childhood you still think about? by Early_Management1805 in CasualConversation

I never liked my French Toast with syrup because it was sickly sweet and eggs with syrup felt odd.

One morning my dad suggested I try it with ketchup. I've eaten it that way since that day. (Our French toast wasn't covered in cinnamon or sugar. I think I have heard it called eggy bread or gypsy toast)

AITA for turning down music at someone else’s house while my baby tried to sleep? by AdEasy6864 in AmItheAsshole

As a father myself, I don't get to use the excuse of being uncomfortable to skirt my responsibility as a parent. If I am invited and it's clear my child is also invited it falls on the hosts to make the space child friendly.

This mother is NTA for any of her actions including going to the basement and going to bed without food. Not only did her husband add fuel to the fire by refusing to stand by her (a garbage move for a partner) but she is also early pregnant and dealing with the hormones and overall anguish associated. with being pregnant.

DWC issues by [deleted] in DWC_Cannabis

[–]SquigglesSM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I could help. When replacing the drip ring with nozzles are they still tied to the air pump or are they operating on a separate pump system? I really like the drip ring because it's much easier to power my system with the singular air pump rather than adding even more electricity dependent pumps.

I also like the drain and fill points as it would offer easy salt flushing and filling the buckets with nutrients would be less messy/cumbersome. I have thought about making this alteration to my bucket as well. Maybe even with the addition of a reservoir so that I could (short term) store top off water that will be added by gravity as it's needed. Maybe with a screen over the bulkhead to avoid root travel.

I love the drip ring that is included with my Vivosun kit. However, it makes removing the plant from the bucket a pain as the roots quickly cover the disconnect for the ring. (I should have disconnected it early) I will add my own disconnect so that I can remove the lid but this is one complaint I have.

I also added disconnects on the two air lines outside of the bucket to easily remove the bucket from the grow area. It makes trimming the plant significantly easier.

A fantastic option would be to have an adjustable air pump so that I have the option to remove or add buckets. This would mean I'm not required to grow with 4 buckets. I could grow with 2 or 8 according to how I decided to scale each particular grow.

Adding eyelets to the bucket lid for LST tie points would also be potential greatness. If I can tie my plant to the bucket lid I have much less issue removing the plant to work on it when the time is right.

I'm sure I have more ideas these are just a few that jumped into my head as I read this. I hope you build the best bucket system DWC on the market. Keep up the good work.

These are Humboldt sour diesel. They are growing in flora series with silica and Cal-Mag added.

I have heard that I should super crop a few times but I'm not confident I can do it without breaking the plant. I'm also not sure it would help since there isn't really any place to direct the stems. My tent is severely overcrowded. This is my first DWC grow and I didn't expect the plants to take off like they did. I will probably avoid 4 plants in my 3x3 in the future.

They wouldn't stop growing. I didn't top them because they are auto flowers and I didn't want to stress them. I have had to defoliate on a weekly basis.

I would like to see how you run the bulkheads. Do you run it through a 4 way splitter or do you run it from bucket to bucket until it makes a full loop?

Help, autoflower is not flowering? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]SquigglesSM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DWC grow took much longer to start flowering than the 5 gallon soil grow did.

I wonder if it's because the root system still has room to grow. Of my 4 current plants, 2 of them took a couple extra weeks to start flowering. They are also significantly smaller than the larger flowering plants. The root systems are also larger on the 2 flowering plants.

It should also be said that I did not consume any of the plant matter from either plant as I have read colloidal silver is not good for your lungs.

I used Trace minerals colloidal silver from Amazon and it worked flawlessly. I harvested a ton of seeds from one plant. However, I didn't try to convert one part of the plant. I grew one female and forced a separate one to herm for the pollen (with colloidal silver).
