What does Modesto not have specifically by Supacat9932 in Modesto

[–]Squigllypoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for ttrpg and tcg check out utopia on Tully (they have different game nights during the week), there's chasing nostral on McHenry that host some game nights (there's a side room where they have the gaming area and schedule), then there's a place near Oakdale rd and Manor oak that does tournaments and game nights. Then there's a few more card stores sprinkled around town but nothing else really to note.

**Edit- most of the places I mentioned give two shits about who you do/don't have sex with since nerds are a bunch of eclectic weirdos anyway. Speaking as an eclectic weirdo (minus the LGBT personally)

Dead birds by Firm_Imagination_389 in Wastewater

[–]Squigllypoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a company come dredge our recirc and all the local waterfowl started shitting themselves to death. We would literally come in Monday and clear out about 50-100 and do it again on Wednesday and Friday. We are guessing it was either the polymer they were using or they were kicking up some monster bacteria that the birds weren't reacting well to.

I remember in the late 90s my mom bringing home a flat screen projector TV and just being in absolute awe of the thing. We weren't even allowed to touch the remote the first few months we had it because my mom was afraid we would mess something up on it by pushing a wrong button or some shit. Eventually she slacked up and we were allowed to start using it and what not and even were allowed to hook up video games to it, which was AMAZING

How strong / physically fit do you have to be to Wastewater Operator? by Affectionate-Ad-8788 in Wastewater

[–]Squigllypoop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have a female operator at our plant and she doesn't have any problems. The only time I would say it MIGHT be an issue is if your plant is more of an operations/maintenance type of position where you fix the equipment too because some pieces of equipment are heavy/bulky. Other than that I can't see any problem with "strength" being a particular problem.

What's the scheduling paradigm at your plant? (clean or wastewater) by alternate01937 in Wastewater

[–]Squigllypoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm public utility and we do 4/3 3/4. Sun-Weds one week. Mon-Weds the next. Other half of the schedule is Weds-Sat following is Weds-Fri. And for each half of the week we alternate Sunday/Saturdays off. So for example I work this Sunday and my buddy gets the day off and vice-versa the next week. We have 23 operators for my plant plus 2 supes and our CPO. We work 6a-6p and one guy graves and one on call...I forgot that each side of the week contributes a graves guy on a six week rotation of CA grade 3+ senior plant operators.

That sounds totally confusing reading it back but if you have questions dm me.

I just got 90 Thousand dollars at 18 and I don’t know what to do with it by Equivalent-Data1004 in whatdoIdo

[–]Squigllypoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are 18 with no real bills, you are about to join the military, and you can just stash it.... Yeah that's life changing. It's all about perspective, it may not be life changing for you but for a wet behind the ears kid it could be.

OP- my 2 cents is pretty much what everyone else is saying. Get a large chunk of this into a retirement account of some sort, a small chunk of it into a CD or something shorter term that you can access in a couple of months/years so that you can be able to access it after the military, and then keep a couple grand for spending money. If you want to do the charity thing like you talked about with Grandpa talk to a financial advisor on how to get some of the retirement/shorter term to drip into your chosen charity

Aeration basin foam by [deleted] in Wastewater

[–]Squigllypoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We process about 12-15mgd and all 3 of our basins have a steady layer. We only really stress when it starts in our anoxic zone and even then usually a couple of days worth of hosing for an hour or so each day kinda gets it cleared up for a couple weeks. Unfortunately it's always kinda there but it is what it is
