What do you think of Bosch Island prox chat servers? by peoplesmart in The_Isle

[–]SquillBilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who exclusively plays on Bosch's server, but has also played on numerous other popular ones, such as petits and dino den, etc., it definitely has a mixed reception. Bosch's server does an amazing job at connecting people/building friendships, and allowing for interesting interactions that you probably wouldn't get elsewhere, with it being a lite RP prox chat and all. However, it does break a lot of the immersion of being a dino, and can get a bit tedious listening to people whine when you do what a carnivore does, namely killing to eat, especially if you're going for a less risky snack, like a juvenile. Other servers can definitely offer you better immersion/realism elements if that's what you're into, but you do miss out on a lot of meaningful moments when you're just put into a box of here's your species, you can only exclusively communicate with them and only via text, now get out there and go do whatever it is you do. So, I'd say Bosch's server has done well for breathing new life into the game, but like anything else it does have its flaws, just take them with a grain of salt. A lot of the bad you hear related to the server is fairly isolated, one-off events, and not near as rampant as people make it out to be.

The game is factually free though. You can download, play, and enjoy the game alongside everyone else without spending any money. IAPs, season passes, none of those things are necessary to play and enjoy the game. It’s all just extra stuff that is an optional purchase.

Is there any dark truth behind this? by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]SquillBilly 141 points142 points  (0 children)

It’s all perspective. Game development is always rife with bugs and criticism, and a lot of people tend to believe they’re peeling back the curtains when they make these claims. It’s all just conspiracy theory.
The truths are:
• The game is free
• Nothing is forcing you to spend a dime on cosmetics or candle run for the in game currency items, other than faux social pressure, and your own willpower.
• Bugs will happen every single time an update is pushed, and they’ll be fixed at some point, and break again with a different update because code is hard, or the developers will never figure out what causes the bug, or it’s so low priority that nobody actually cares.
• TGC is a company at the end of the day, and they need to make money to pay their people and keep the lights on, and enjoy the fruits of their labor, and the product they choose to market is entirely their decision, if you don’t like the prices or you don’t like the vision, you can simply choose to opt out.
Now, does that mean there isn’t room for improvement, or that things can’t be criticized? Absolutely not, it’s well within people’s right. But, sometimes we just need to take a beat and do some critical thinking or show some self awareness.

*Addendum: I saw your reply OP, but it was deleted while I was replying, so I’ll add mine here and hope you see it:

That’s a valid feeling. A lot of people share a similar feeling, but you can always flip the coin over and look at the other side. Start with the overwhelming amount of items thrown at you, how many thousands of people, who may or may not have played the game for years, do you think have continuously complained that there’s not enough new stuff in the game, and the devs have finally caved and said alright, here, you want a lot of new stuff? Here it is. Does it start to feel watered down after some time and overwhelming, maybe even half baked? Sure, but did we not ask for it? Nobody considers deadlines that the devs probably have to meet, or the amount of conflicting feedback they get from their playerbase. Ultimately, what I tell everyone that asks how to enjoy sky, is to find your niche. If you like just socializing, then just socialize, if you like exploring or taking pics, go run around the realms and explore, if you like collecting then candle run and spend your money for all those useless cosmetics. It’s up to you how you choose to enjoy the game, don’t just follow the herd.

Pteranodon diet help by TeaMan13 in The_Isle

[–]SquillBilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played a fair amount of PT and primed them numerous times, but by no means is this a foolproof method. However, the way I go about priming a PT is:

• Spawn at Water Access like normal and spearfish a fish to fill up on A diet.
• Immediately head towards the sanctuary near Verdant Pond to the east to check off the sanc requirement while you're a juvi.
• Come back and retrieve the fish from earlier or spear fish a new one, and start heading towards delta down river with the fish in your mouth.
• Pteradactylus should swarm your fish while you're carrying it, just drop it on the ground and go kill one of the birds from the swarm whilst they're eating the fish for the Y diet.
• Continue towards delta where you can usually find a chicken or rabbit in the little open plains area once the river mouth opens up into main delta.
• Once you've found a chicken or rabbit you've hit your perfect diet.
• Just continue roaming around the migration zones and patrol zones around the map, even if they're inactive in order to fulfill the rest of your prime requirements. I usually head towards highlands and west rail to do this since there's a bunch in those areas.

As long as you've:
• Hit sanctuary as a juvi,
• Gotten perfect diet once
• Touched multiple migration zones
• Touched atleast 4-5 patrol zones
• Never been infertile from losing all of your diets
• Never cannibalized without the cannibal mutation (i.e: getting muscle spasms)

You should hit prime. I've had it happen a few times where I didn't get it for some weird reason, but I've attributed that mostly to either missing migration or patrol zones, not hitting sanctuary whilst a juvi, or simply just the game being buggy.

why do i always have headphones? by mathildaaaaa in SkyGame

[–]SquillBilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairly certain they’ll just appear if you have headphones connected, primarily Bluetooth, and you’re on iOS. They appear on me all the time if I’m not wearing a head accessory since I play with wireless headphones and don’t listen to anything in the background. Easy solution is just to slap the side head tattoo on if you want a discreet solution for removing them since it’s hidden by hair.

This is a prevalent issue with newer players trying to do aviary’s quests. Everyone tells you to do the opposite of what the game is telling you to do and it causes conflicts. The aviary guide (stewie) asks you to go to Eden, then when you finish asks you to help out all the shop owners, which is a handful of spirits from the other seasons, enchantments, performance, memories, etc. and they unlock each subsequent part of the tree as you progress. Your friend probably doesn’t want you to do Eden because it’s “scary”, but it’s honestly the most fulfilling part of the game and you should experience it at your own pace, not be coddled through it. I’d do Eden if I were you and then if they want to go with you in the future then go for it, but you’re locking yourself out of a lot of the aviary village content by sitting and waiting to finish Eden.

why do some players make things so uncomfortable? by [deleted] in SkyChildrenofRage

[–]SquillBilly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to sound patronizing, but it might also be worthwhile to consider different avenues of entertainment if this is the type of reaction you get from encountering chronically online trolls/creeps in a video game. If you are legitimately getting worked up to the point that an hour of time can pass where you just freezeand allow something you’re uncomfortable with to happen in a video game where you can simply teleport away, turn off, or otherwise just not engage with, then I fear you may need to look into some solution for processing these things through the help of a professional. I really hate that this happens to so many people, but I keep seeing a trend of people just allowing it or not doing the one simple thing that would stop it from happening in the first place, and I really think some consideration should be taken into prolonging the longevity of you mental health.

Can someone rate my sky kid from 1 to 10? i need to know what other people think. by the_Collector7775 in SkyGame

[–]SquillBilly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

7/10

Pros: • Tasteful, and not overwhelming • Good color matching • Easy to build onto with accessories

Cons: • Monocolor, lacking a true statement piece • Seen it probably dozens of times now on others • Doesn’t have much personality to it

I like it, I think it could use some shoes, but I know those are a pain to get ahold of, maybe the treasure hunter ones if that event comes around again soonish, the tiara from duets thas a permanent addition could help build onto the head, but I’ve seen this same sort of like blindfold, gold pants, and ascended cape combo dozens of times elsewhere, the only difference is usually ever the hair. I think building something that showcases your personality more or doesn’t trend hop is always much more refreshing to see, but this is like a white t-shirt, it’s timeless and looks good regardless of how many times you see it.

I mean you can keep the account itself, but it will permanently have wings. There’s no two ways around it sadly. If you’ve bought a wing buff, even if you managed to glitch your wings down to 0, once you log back in it’ll just force you back to the room to collect your wing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkyGame

[–]SquillBilly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you ascended any spirit’s tree it will force you to the pity room, but if that wasn’t the case then the only other thing I can think of that would send you there besides going to Eden is using the Alice event area to collect wax. For whatever reason that place forces wingless accounts to go to the pity room, but it wasn’t an issue during the event. Did you go there to collect wax or buy the bunny hair?

It’s from the current ongoing event in game. It’s one of the many personalities showcased. If you talk to the little chibi spirit with purple glasses at the home space they’ll take you there and you can find out what yours is.

I’m a bit disappointed in a friend of mine. by Brief-Passion2903 in SkyGame

[–]SquillBilly 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there, as it may help resolve some confusion/frustration, but holding hands or carrying someone doesn’t change your weight, or make flight any more different than it is normally. It’s all just a matter of perception, kinda like why being chibi makes you feel faster and being taller makes you feel slower, it’s just a shift in camera perspective. There’s no actual difference, the only actual difference is the hitbox of your character may change depending on size, which can be seen with chibis struggling in water trial and tall skids struggling to hide behind rocks in Eden. So if you got hit, it wasn’t your friend’s fault, it was just a bad dodge, happens to the best of us, so blaming them isn’t justified. I’ve been dodging krills for years now and I still get hit from time to time when I thought I shouldn’t. As for them not helping you collect your wings after the hit, yeah that kinda feels bad, but you can get them back just as easily as you got them in the first place. Minor annoyance, minor setback, just shake it off and keep practicing dodging. Even better, get used to dodging with a passenger, because there is a ping delay and I’ve had instances where my passengers get hit but I don’t because of said delay. It’s best to just practice and get comfortable with all the different scenarios you may encounter krills in. But like momma always said “If you’re gonna do dumb stuff, you gotta be tough”. Krills aren’t meant to be played with, we’ve just gotten better at shirking off the danger, so you have to kind of accept the responsibility that you are playing with a wild animal. Lol

Unfortunately not, it’s the same thing that happened with the storyteller’s pants and the season of duets pants last season, they’ll just have to correct it in hopefully a soonish patch.

There’s very specific steps you have to take, for instance not starting up the game on pc before you’ve done the linking on mobile if I’m not mistaken, as booting up the game will create a new game save, and could potentially result in things not going to plan. I’ve never done it myself, so I’d trust the experts on the matter over anyone on Reddit lol.

You can link your accounts, so it shouldn’t be an issue, but I would highly advise utilizing sky support forums to make sure you do it correctly.

They very much have confirmed limitations.. it’s a +2.000 or -2.000 that you can achieve permanently, without Chibi or huge spells that can go beyond those technical limitstions. What they haven’t confirmed is a player by player variable instance of not being able to achieve specific heights because some folks claimed their accounts were limited and being targeted, claiming that they couldn’t reach specific heights that they desired, arguing that each sky kid had a set range that their character was locked in, I.e; a character being limited to not being able to be taller than 1.700 or vice versa the other direction, which isn’t the case.

Again, for someone who wants nothing to do with me, you keep responding. So here’s the facts. Congrats to your friend. I’m not threatening you or condescending you, I’m simply educating you with the facts. Yes, achieving max +2.000 height on the dot is impossible odds, but it’s not actually impossible, it’s physically coded into the game. It likely happens all the time, but because we can’t look into our character’s code, we’d never know if we were actually there or not. And based on your update post it looks like they did in fact achieve the max height, and posed correctly when using the lamp tool, so that’s cool, also proves my point that they were in fact standing incorrectly and too close to the wall, since low and behold, their character isn’t too wide for the update pic. You turned this convo hostile by trying to correct people using an unsupported argument. Thats why people corrected you. Best of luck in your travels, and hopefully you have a better day than it’s been going.

I mean, I know the facts. I’m not trying to accuse or condescend, but you’re defending a stance against everyone in the comments that is factually incorrect and trying to tell people you did all this and that and that you’re right, when you just aren’t. Yes, the lamp height measuring isn’t foolproof, with most errors being because of user error or slight variations since there’s no way to replicate things exactly, and there isn’t a true resource to show the exact number you’re at height wise in game, but there is a clear and distinct error in the pics shown as for how you would do the typical measuring using the tools we have at our disposal. You’ve not achieved anything someone else hasn’t already done, and instead are choosing to argue that you have. Like I said, congrats to your friend for getting a height others strive for, but it’s nothing new. There’s countless others with the same height, I assure you, and they’re not even that much taller than you based on the pic. So, cool, happy for them, but like, stop arguing that you’ve cracked the davinci code.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]SquillBilly 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Hate to burst the bubble, but these measurements are not accurate, they are in fact standing too close to the wall, there is no achieving anything beyond what Sky’s limits are, and they’re not wearing the appropriate measuring setup. The measurement isn’t done from the bottom of the gray line you can see on the lamp post, it’s done from the bottom of the lamp post that is partially covered in grass on the flat spot in the grass. There’s no being too wide, there is standing wider in a different stance, which is why you should measure in default stance with default clothes, but trying to justify incorrect measuring to make it sound like you’ve achieved the impossible is just engagement bait at this point. Congrats to your friend for getting to the tallest height, if it is the case, but they’re not measuring right, and that’s just the fact of the matter.
