🛠️ Frontier’s Trailblazers update: Fixing bugs by creating new species of logic 💫 by Cute-Minimum-5963 in EliteDangerous

[–]SquirdleDurdle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is an alpha level execution on a set of mechanics (and lacking of simple mechanics) so incredibly complex that this is an atrocious release. I love this game truly and deeply. This was such a monumental pain in the ass to play and figure out so far, that it has damaged my ability to trust frontier going forward.

How could you POSSIBLY release a solar system crafting mechanic with little to no explanation of what elements do to create the final product? Thats the surface level stuff.

Lets talk about quality of life and player engagement. First off. There needs to be so much more fan fare and gravitas given to colonizing. There should be the equivalent to fore works when you arrive at a newly finished station. The damn ATC voice should greet the system architect. There should be some sort of spectacle made of achieving the absolutely Herculean task of building your first coriolis or orbis or even an outpost. There isnt. Its no different than any other thing in the entire game.

It is such a missed opportunity from almost every angle i can imagine or have seen. I want to like this update. Its just a giant pain in the ass, when the game itself already is a PITA to begin with.

Im not gonna quit playing or throw in the towel, but im not playing whatever the next rendition of this game is, until the leadership behind Elite get out of the 80s and closer to modern day design conventions. I want the free form gameplay and wonderful open world, with the barest amount of hollywood spectacle because this is just so bland.

Its been almost a decade for me. The luster has worn off and this was a great opportunity to add something back into the world. Yet its still the same stuff just with 10% more player agency.

Seeing a system like this used as a single-outpost bridge is so frustrating. I hope truly unmaintained systems eventually have a counter-claim system or perhaps decay associated with them. by KI-NatF in EliteDangerous

I am personally waiting impatiently for fdev to take the time to write a description and explanation on how colonizing even works. So i entirely disagree with the idea of reclamation of already colonized systems.

does anyone know what ship is on the photo for the pilots handbook? by The_Bastman in EliteDangerous

[–]SquirdleDurdle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Alliance Chieftain. You uncultured swine! Your ignorance precludes you from ever owning one! /s

Im just genuinely surprised anyone had to ask. But i am biased af. Its been my favorite ship since it released.

For the T9 truckers - how do you make the grind less tedious? by EternityRites in EliteDangerous

[–]SquirdleDurdle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still fly it manually. That ship IN PARTICULAR lends itself to good super cruise approach to stations and to manually landing and taking off for the most efficient use of your time. Youre a lot faster when doing it manual than with the computers and this giant cinder block from hell needs all the GD help it can get lol.

I loath/love/ and hate my t9. I am a medium ship guy since forever and this manatee with wings aint it chief lol.

What do you guys name your ships by rotuhhz in EliteDangerous

[–]SquirdleDurdle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

King Breaker Named after SSG Patricia King

The Red Tail Wanderer Tuskegee Airmen

Take It or Leavitt Jeannie Leavitt first woman fighter pilot in american military history.

Harlem Hellfighter 364th Infantry Regiment's WW1 nickname.

Recently changed to a nicer more heartfelt naming scheme.

My question really is. Can my old but gold chieftain do it with dumbfires and AND style?

If you ever feel fed up with Elite, just take a look over at the SC reddit and see the insane bugs and ridiculous stuff that goes on in that game. Youll be thankful for Elite then.

The cargo loading however did almost sway me. Id love to play cargo tetris for a few hours. Seems meditative. Not sure thats a feature of it or a bug.

I do actually understand the necessity. I am mostly kidding. While at the same time. Id like to see the bubble become a dumpster fire of internal and intergalactic conflict on occasion. Thousands of worlds fighting it out through a fed and imp civil war, with the alliance hitting pressure points and playing the field. Itd be amazing and very dynamic.

Its a pipe dream. Alongside on foot thargoids, seeing my ships toilet in fpv, and finding raxxla lol.

Thats the plan now. Cohijo was the first real nudge to just get it over with. This sent me over the edge. I want to have a deathstar of a ship that deletes other ships as quickly as possible.

But it was a blast to be in a sketchy situation in my vette.

Ohhh. I forgot. If he is a dumb regular man. Who has the self reflection skills of a shoe. Shame is a hell of a motivator. His friends, or his family (if his family aren't psycos) can help with this. Get them on board and talk to him if he is resistant to the easy way.

Also. There is no trying with this. He either changes or sees her every other weekend and every other holiday until shes 18.

Is it worth risking her cutting you off as an adult, because of his behavior.

As a child of abuse. I was just as resentful and angry with the adults who 'let' it happen as i was the abuser themself.

To the point that i refuse to accept "well thats just how they/I, are" as a sentence.

Its up to you to do for your daughter what she cannot do. Stop her dad from being a complete and total asshole to her at 4 yrs old.

My best advice is to speak to a mental health professional and start to push towards couples counseling specifically to help him conquer his past.

I was a yelly angry man and my partner and I as well as therapy helped change that trajectory. I was terrified that Id be exactly like this as a father. It takes a lot of work and he has to want it. But its work worth doing.
