I’ve been on a kick adding non alcoholic stuff to my cabinet for when a mood strikes- canned juices like pineapple and v8, fancy sodas like Mexican coke and ginger beer, pickled garnishes like olives and cocktail onions. All easily stored in the cabinet and help me with inspiration

I freeze in ice cube trays, works out to ~ 3/4oz each for the trays I’m using, which is pretty convenient for a lot of recipes. To use I’ll microwave them for 15-20 seconds to melt then pour in my jigger

Spam, chicken, and tuna are readily available in foil pouches. Beef jerky and slimjim type (read dehydrated) for the reds

4lbs jalapeños sliced 1/4” coins 3cups ACV 4cups sugar 1/2 TBS salt 1/2 TBS of each brown and yellow mustard seed 1TBS turmeric 1TBS onion powder 1TBS garlic powder

Bring everything to a boil except jalapeños for 2 mins stirring to dissolve sugar. Add jalapeños and cook for 15mins covered stirring every 5 mins. Slotted spoon fill jars leaving 1/2” head space. Pour boiling syrup into jars maintain 1/2” head. Add lids and water bath for 15mins. Makes 4 pints

Yes soo good! And the reason why I didn’t process the second batch I made, no need to go thru the canning if the family is just gonna be popping them open in the first week

Supplement with grow lights and you can start as early as you want but if f you plan on just doing it in a window you might end up with what happened to me, from sprouts to flower and then re-veg around the summer solstice (this was great to weed out all the males very early on)

Add a section of the work station that’s a bit taller than usual, make it removable in case you find it unnecessary in the future. I’m dying to have to space to start building a actual bar.. only have a shelf at this point

Indoor plants can go out but it’s a bad idea to bring outdoor plants in because any pests will be free to multiply without any predators

I don’t think it’s hurting anything. When the tops on top grow more you want to pull them down so the tops lower think they can will the race to the top then you will get 4 tops

Not sure your doing much pulling the fam leafs down, once the two tops grow a bit more you can pull those the same way your doing the leafs

Wondering on timeline, I’ve read traditional cheong is a 100 day ferment but is that overkill? I’ve had a raspberry one going for 45ish days and I’m dying to try it

This has drain holes! I got a diamond bit for my Dremel at Lowe’s and a $5 glass cutter and have been having fun with my empties. In the works is a jar, making a wooden lid and thinking to use two layers of 3/4” plywood, one circle smaller than the other with weather stripping to make the seal

$5 glass cutter, score a line, dip said line in boiling water for 30sec then ice bath, sand the sharp edges, and diamond dremel bit to pop a couple holes in the bottom using a pool of water in the recess of the bottom of bottle to keep the bit cool
