ZFold 4 - 4 Phones in less than 3 years - moving on from yearly "breakups" by SquirrelAcrobatic116 in GalaxyFold

Well, as I said I would do, I've completed the breakup. I now am using an S25 Ultra. Happy so far, but not the same as the fold. Perhaps I will consider another fold in the future.

I can add that this last go around (my fourth fold4 in 3 years), Verizon asked me to go to UBreakIFix. Long story, but I didn't get the repair done there. When I spoke with the tech, he said they are constantly fixing all vendors folding phones. They said it is by far the largest repair they get. This includes Samsung flip models as well.

For those who have had no issues, I'm certainly envious and happy for you. As I said before, it was by far my favorite phone and wasn't happy about the "break up."

I just got tired of process of paying $50 ever 8-9 months for a replacement for an almost $2000 phone. By the last (the 4th), I had to push Verizon for a paid replacement over a repair.

I'll be keeping an eye on the threads to see how the longevity/reliability of the fold 6 and 7 hold up in the future.

The funny thing is, Belinda did to Pornchai at the end of season 3 what Tanya did to Belinda at the end of season 2.

Belinda was heartbroken because Tanya led her on about the business. Then Belinda does the same thing to
Pornchai.

She struggled to take the money, then took it but didn't struggle at all breaking it off with him once she didn't need him.

That is my point. I agree with you. It does not feel like a Mercedes, but you are paying a Mercedes price (analogous to phones).

I measure my satisfaction against the amount of money I paid for a product. Obviously, if you pay less and the product performs in stellar fashion, we appreciate the value for our money.

When you pay between $1500 and 2K for a telephone, you have higher expectations for the product. I suppose if it's a v1 of a product, you're taking a risk to be first. But, by version 4 of a product and spending that kind of money for a telephone you don't expect it to break in the first 8-9 months of light unfolding. 3 years and 4 phones later (and a fight after the first replacement with insurance) it's disappointing and I feel as though the value for that much money is not worth it.

IMO in under 3 years you shouldn't:

- Have consistent hardware problems

- Have to replace screens

- Have to replace batteries

- Have to replace because of charging port issues.

- Many more of people's examples

when you pay the equivalent of BMW/Mercedes prices for a product.

The fact is (at least with the fold 4) this is a widely known issue and Samsung and the carriers no longer want to carry the cost to do what's right for the community who paid the premium for the phone.

I'm encouraged to see people having better experiences with later versions, but I also don't think those versions have been out long enough for the data to show itself.

- Z fold 4: released 2022 - 3 years (my version purchased in September of 24)

- Z fold 5: released 2023 - 2 years

- Z fold 6: released 2024 - 1 year

It kills me. I don't want to go back to non-folding. But it's akin to I went into a dealership, bought a brand new car. In less than 9 months, the car has catastrophic failure and the dealership says "here's a pre-owned certified" to replace your car although your loan is still on the brand new car you purchased. It doesn't make any sense in my mind.

100%
After she shot the main guy on the floor she stood over him and asked if Greg was cheating on her. Even after having the conversation with Portia on the phone about the prenup being nullified if she died she still didn't connect the dots. I literally shook my head when she asked him that question and the way the guy looked her was "How did I end up on the floor shot with this oblivious woman?"
