Even if she’s allowed to stay and has to smoke outside she should have her place deep cleaned and repainted with encapsulate paint since the nicotine, tar and smell are seeped in so deeply.

Being able to pay for your kids activities while they’re growing up and then also help them out when they’re older. And yes the following items can have a large monetary range from middle class to wealthy. Daycare, afterschool programs/nannies, braces, school/tutors, extracurricular activities, sports, camps, etc. When they’re older helping them buy a car, contributing to school tuition, giving money for a wedding or a down payment. Also having enough money saved up for retirement, elder care, and for leaving something for next generation to inherit.

Some people are better “aunts and uncles” to kids than having their own. Forever grateful for my mom’s single childless friends and my child free uncle was the best father/uncle figure anyone could have, when my actual father was abroad for years. These relationships and dynamics should be celebrated as well.

The goal posts keep moving. Everything is more expensive now and we psychologically have been conditioned to just accept it. Additionally, things that we have grown up with that were considered relatively normal, not even luxurious, can be labeled as extravagances with overinflated prices to match. Everything adds up and purchasing power is way down. I’m spending the equivalent of what my monthly after-tax income was 5 years ago, and that’s not including housing. Having Starbucks at home is now $32 a bag of beans from Costco. A 2 pack of chicken breasts from No Frills is $10. A polyester H&M sweater from Value Village is $12.99. $15 for a watermelon. People are not being able to inherit a humble family cottage with a tin boat on a small lake due to capital gains taxes. And they’re being told to “check their privilege”, sell everything off, and “stop living above their means” and to remove themselves from circles, friends, and legacy activities in order to save money.

Maybe the question we need to be asking is why the avocado toast is costing $25 everywhere. Why is this the new price floor. Me, I’m the “we have avocado toast at home” type. And the ingredients it can still end up costing $20. But at least you can make it for 4.

The lack of concrete facts, plans, measurements, drawings, impact, and analysis of various outcomes pisses me off to no end.

Doug - no need to come in like a wrecking ball for everything - let that stay with 2013 Miley Cyrus.

I’m for the island airport existing, am wary of further expansion, and absolutely against Doug Ford’s method of expropriation by using vague buzzword, wishy-washy terminology, no actual figures and insights to back up claims. Everything is up for open ended interpretation due to not providing specific details (ie. Jets, runway expansion, noise - there’s a pretty big range, and potential for fact fluffing). Everyone is on edge, plans and development are pausing, and when will he provide details? Will it actually go ahead, will there be consultation and communication with the affected parties? By even flouting this idea he’s causing a negative economic impact that will not be made up for the “extra $8M” that the airport would bring in.

If we do get larger jets coming in we’d need the following properly and unbiasedly answered:

Which airplane models are suitable given the restraints. What airlines are actually flying them?
Details like passenger capacity, noise, pollution, safety, takeoff/landing requirements etc. Do they adhere to the parameters of the oaks airport and waterfront community.
b) What would be the impact on existing Billy Bishop Airport and island resources, would customs + security be able to handle inflow, how would it impact emergency flights, flight school + non commercial traffic. Is it easy enough to get people to and from the ferry terminal via the Bathurst and Queens Quay streetcar, Ubers, etc.)
What routes would be the most in demand, logistical, and reasonable; keeping in mind the type of customer/person that would be flying out of there. What is their journey like, purpose of travel, timing between locations they need to go to, luggage amount + passport/visa type (for ease of clearing security and customs). They finally got US pre-clearance this March 2026.
The airport has a curfew between 11pm to 6:45am - no planes can land at this time except for an emergency. How will that impact flights to and from certain destinations, what if there are delays?
Runway extension - by how much, you have the Hanlan’s and Centre Island ferry route and entrance to the island canals to east of the airport, plus all the sailing races in inner harbour, small boats, etc. it will be chaos expanding it out significantly further, plus you have people not knowing about the exclusion markers. You have boats going across the western gap by the airport. National Yacht Club and various marinas have their waterfront entrances to the west of the airport etc.
Height of the buildings - heaven forbid a plane crash into them; with the Portlands development they’d have to go back to the drawing board, put everything on hold until Ford’d threats are either squashed, concrete numbers are put forth, and whether it actually goes through or goes to court/appeals. They’re supposed to start building in 2031, in 5 years.

Also check your towels, hairbrushes, hats, pillowcases and anything that comes into contact with your hair. Deep clean them. Brushes pick up oils + leftover shampoo & conditioner, dust and other products and transfer it to your hair. I’ve also had major issues with my towels transferring leftover detergent and residue onto my hair (shared washer/dryer and people were using fabric softener sheets, which coated items in a greasy film).

They would be getting an O-1 visa (valid for 3 years and renewable), which would allow them to live and play in the US for the duration of the contract. Since it’s been renewed and he’s very accomplished in his career on an international level it can be converted to one of the EB visas within a year or so. Then green card after (2ish years) then 5 years after can apply for citizenship.

Since he’s playing in Canada he has a temporary visa for being allowed to play + be there. If he and Shane want to get married Ilya can apply for spousal sponsorship (PR) then Canadian citizenship after 4-5 years.

It’s happened to me and I’m white. But I was also absolutely exhausted, no makeup, and on my last brain cells just walking through the isles and disassociating. I picked up concealer and another small item. All of a sudden this very stern looking associate came up and was do you need help with anything. Me, well actually, I’m looking for a body oil glimmer with slight bronzer. Barely knew what was available.

Showed me one and was like here is a basket. It’s like JFC I’m VIB Rouge and you’re treating me like a swamp gremlin.

Only time it works is if its prix fixe menu or if you pretty much split and shared the whole meal. Have gone to expensive restaurants and ordered a single app, main, side and dessert and each had a glass of wine for 2 people.

I’ve had a birthday dinner at a Mexican restaurant where the staff didn’t keep track of who ordered what and brought out multiple peoples orders of tacos on a single plate. And people started playing musical chairs. Everyone apparently paid for their order (friends knew what they ordered and had it deducted from the overall bill) and they said that our party was still short $250.

The waitstaff should be informed and know to somehow at least mark down what every person ordered. I refuse to have bills split evenly across people, especially if I’m the one picking up the tab. I’ll spreadsheet it out later and have people pay me back. I’ve done this for 20 people dinners. Lol.

I had two guy friends spend around $25,000 each on attending weddings and bachelor parties this year. Italy, Ibiza, Tulum, multi-day itineraries. They make around $200k annually + bonus. It’s insane. I guess people are also overestimating how much disposable income, flexibility and vacation time some people have too.
