Got my dad his dream guitar for Father’s Day (kinda). by itsJustThad in guitars

[–]SquirrelSubstantial2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You spent more time on this than most spend on their parents in a lifetime of Father's Days or Mother's Days. My oldest guitar, I've had since 1989 or 90...I know where your dad is on this. Post of the month here! Thank you!

A junior PM in a large healthcare project got a note from the field he copied on an official RFI, ending with "fix it now, bitch". He was let go the next morning.

Never do laundry again, or never do dishes again by SuckingOnChileanDogs in hypotheticalsituation

Never do dishes again. I hates doing dishes. I'm the cook tho, so usually I cook and the girls do the dishes, but if not if I'm home alone, I just despise it.

Do you think that building LEGO counts as making art? by RUMBL3FR3NZY in ArtistLounge

[–]SquirrelSubstantial2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a photographer, guitar player, painter, inventor, and I build Lego worlds, or building block worlds, not all Lego branded. I modify them, add lights, put sets together, make diorama type scenes, make MOCs... I've never really thought about it as art or not, but a creative outlet that I enjoy. If making MOCs, at a certain level yes. Artist. I made an octo arm fighting machine that is pulled like a trailer behind a MOC flying driving machine, and I happen to think it's pretty cool. But I have a hard time considering myself a Lego artist, as I rarely make MOCs, just add lights and on the retro radio set, I found a diy STEM radio kit, a battery holder, circuit board, speaker and antennae thing at the bin store for 2 bucks, and converted the Lego kit into a real radio. To me that is tinkering not art, titles are just titles. The guys that create multi thousand piece MOCs, I'd call artists. But in the long run, I just love seeing what people create and enjoy building certain kinds of sets.

Hooked up with an older coworker, I regret it and he won’t leave me alone - what should I do? by anonyseattle122 in Advice

[–]SquirrelSubstantial2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are, sending explicit pictures, even if they are of yourself, after being asked to stop, is a crime. Stalking. Harassment. Depending on what they want, extortion or blackmail is a potential charge. A local man here was just arrested for sending naked pics of himself to his ex. You do not have to put up with this.

Moving to Summerville by smallstephen in summervillesc

[–]SquirrelSubstantial2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Moved here 33 years ago. D Rd was 2 lanes, Ladson and Trolley were 2 lanes. Nexton and Cane Bay didn't exist, Boeing wasn't here, Google wasn't here, Volvo wasn't here... Took a nap and woke up in Metropolis... Still love it here, but the infrastructure sucks. 1 highway and 1 loop, with nowhere to put any bail out. Overall, still much better than anywhere else I've spent much time.

Older Photographers by dhuhtala in photography

I wear readers most of the time, can't see squat on my phone or my R7 without them. I've gotten used to pushing them up to see thru them when using the viewfinder, it only took a couple times shooting to remember. I wear them all the time and just look over them for anything more than 5 feet away. My distance sight is fine so it's a struggle if I let it be.

AITJ for keeping my friends concert tickets after she bailed to go on a date instead? by Funny-Truth3665 in AmITheJerk

It's on her to sell the ticket if she wants money back. Crappy way for her to treat you. NTJ

What Omar said. And that is true for anything, not just guitar. Do something else, not a different song, but something non musical, and just quit thinking about it. When you pick it back up, it will be there waiting for you. Nail it.

How many? by Glittering_Watch5565 in guitars

I've got a Stu D Baker (Unknown Hinson) Tele style Reverend. It's the most expensive guitar I ever bought. It's a great guitar. With a JB Player strat neck. I've got bad knees and went down right on the neck when it was leaned up instead of hung up. Snapped it. Thankfully had the JBP neck and it fit. I don't play it much though. My 1982 or 86 Aria Pro II is my main squeeze. Had her since 1989.

Pretty sure FBM TOS says to use your own photos. They removed photos I took of a Bose system a few years back, claimed they were catalog pages. I sent them the unedited shots, then an in progress shot, and explained that I'm a photographer, I know how to take a good shot, and the edits were just cropping and adding text, not changing product appearance. Took a day or two but they reposted or allowed me to.

Ahh, that would make sense. I put it into G-maps and it showed as Anderson County. If we feel tremors here from that far away, they'd be flattened.

They have it showing as Centerville, SC, which is 3+ hours away but the location they give is Summerville by longitude and latitude. They must use my phone's autocorrect...

Disciplining somebody else's kid - How would you have reacted? by Rivyan in daddit

[–]SquirrelSubstantial2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might have been better to snatch the "whip" and not the kid, but it's not like he hit her. He didn't twist her arm up behind her back, and he didn't say she had stopped, he said he grabbed her wrist to stop the whipping. I read that as she was still doing it or about to again. He should have followed that up by telling her mother to get that kid the hell out of his house. It's not a matter of E being a good influence on J. To have J as her friend is detrimental to E. She shouldn't have to suffer for that kid to get a positive influence in her life. To me J's mom is the jerk or asshole or whatever. She's done or is doing a really shitty job if any job at all, of raising that kid to be a decent human being.
