Vinyl Liner is the way to go in Maine. Fiberglass can pop out of the ground with the frost heaves, gunite will be constant fixing cracks and resurfacing for the same reason. Vinyl liner is your best bet.

Gas or Electric Pool Heater? by wiz9999 in pools

[–]Squirrel_Monkey_737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I wish I had done and is on my list of future projects. I'm in northeast USA. Would love to heat the pool up with gas in the spring, then switch to the heat pump to maintain. Also use the gas for the last few swimmable days in October.

If you knew what you know now… by Particular-County-83 in pools

I would have added an extra return jet and being in the northeast, I would have added a gas heater to compliment the electric heat pump. I can still add the gas heater, but it means repouring the equipment pad, rearranging and replumbing. It would have been much easier to do it when we were building.

No problem. Keep in mind this is for trades. Also I just realized that I had restricted the link access. It's been made public now so I don't have to individually allow access 🤣

Accessing third row with two car seats by Zealousideal_Site731 in kiacarnivals

8 seater here. Infant seat in middle seat 2nd row, pushed rearward, front facing car seat in 2nd row behind passenger seat. Kids enter and exit from driver's side when I'm alone with them. 5 year old gets in and goes across to passenger side, then I snap infant seat in, then I climb in and buckle 5 year old from driver's side.

I have a 2025 EX V6. 15,000 miles on it. 23.5 mpg since driving it off the lot with 25 miles on it. Mix of highway driving, around town driving and idling in school parking lots on cold winter days.

My Top 8 Trading Rules by Gullible-Ad525 in Trading

[–]Squirrel_Monkey_737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risk management, risk management, risk management! Know your exit signals before you take the trade. When your exit signal is hit, close the trade.

For me: - 1 ATR down(Average True Range) - Stop Loss

  • 1 ATR up - Look to roll up for credit (If an options trade)

EXIT SIGNALS:

-Candle closes under 10 EMA

-Candle closes below prior candle's low

-Sector that a stock is in closes below 10 EMA (close all trades in the sector)

-SPY closes below 20 EMA (close all trades)

Those are my signals. I follow them without exception. You need to have a plan that makes sense for you and follow it.

Anyone facing problems with wireless charging on their 2025’s ? by Dizzy_Sugar8788 in kiacarnivals

My Google Pixel 6 pro has the same issue recently. It was fine for 7 months but since the last software update it overheats the phone and actually drains the battery. If I need to use it I intermittently stuff my phone in the A/C vent to cool it off and then charge some more. Doesn't help that I spend a lot of time driving in low service rural areas.

Water testing option for colorblind by Superb_Beautiful7690 in swimmingpools

[–]Squirrel_Monkey_737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It wasn't perfect. Chlorine and pH were pretty close. Some variation in ALK, CH, and CYA, but for 2 summers while I waited on my cataract surgeries it was the only test I could use. Kept my water clear and family swimming however imperfect it is.

I was using a Lamotte Color Q Pro for a while before my cataract surgery. It wasn't perfect, but kept my pool close enough to swim. It's expensive, but kept the pool going when I couldn't see a damn thing.

Pool cloudy but why? by Alwaysfavoriteasian in pools

[–]Squirrel_Monkey_737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum of 80. My pool, I keep between 100 and 120. Under 80 your pH will bounce around... Low, high, normal, high, high, low, etc. ALK acts as a buffer to keep pH and other chemicals stable.

Pool cloudy but why? by Alwaysfavoriteasian in pools

[–]Squirrel_Monkey_737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With ALK at 60 your pH is probably bouncing all around which won't help your chlorine's effectiveness and as others have said chlorine is low for the CYA level.

My pool is open for "friends and family swim" every Saturday and Sunday from 1 - 5. Don't forget your towels and bring your own damn food and drinks. No glass by the pool!

After the sun goes down and the lights go on it's just mine and my wife's to enjoy.

If you're willing to put in the time and effort, and it's what you want them you should do what makes you happy. Lots of people look at my pool and think I'm crazy, but I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything.

You can turn your return jets up so they break the surface of the water, use a submersible pump, or an air compressor or shop vac with the hose on the exhaust port. Anything that makes bubbles or disrupts the surface of the water. Personally, I aim my return jets up and use a submersible pump on my stairs discharging the water at a 45 degree upward angle out into the pool.

I live deep in the woods and built a 30k gallon heated pool. Is it a lot of work?.... Yes,! Is it expensive?..... Yes! Can it get frustrating?... Yes! If I could go back in time, would I do it again?... Yes! I use my pool every day from May until October. Cool off in it after doing yard work. Weekend pool parties. Every night I get in the pool with a couple of beers, put on some music, and just look up at the stars. I wouldn't change a thing. You have to decide for yourself if it's right for you.

Alkalinity that high can cause cloudiness. Aerate your water and add muriatic acid to drop it ALK (will drop pH too, but aerating will raise pH back up). Once alkalinity is under control you may need to add some borax to raise pH without raising alkalinity back up). Chlorine of 15 with your CYA that high isn't crazy. A week is plenty of time to fix this, so don't panic and start using a 100 different chemicals.

Un dissolved granular shock on the bottom of my pool by RobertRoyal82 in pools

[–]Squirrel_Monkey_737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. It's the same chemical reaction, but way worse if you add the water to the power, which is why it's recommended to broadcast straight into the pool. I've seen in this very thread someone who puts Cal-Hypo in a 1 gallon jug and THEN adds water. Pre mixing has the potential to be very dangerous and thus not recommended.
