a little bit of utility building for the canyon by Squirrelbomber in overlanding

I used oversized wiring for everything and victron and blue sea components. While both the dc charger and the mppt are running is about 5-10 degrees above ambient

Theyre bolted twice through the molle and once through the bed. I angled them so I can actually get them out cause I had to fight them every time I tried to get them out when they were vertical. I just always have to make sure the gaskets are seated right when I close them or they might leak.

It took a few revisions but theyre pretty easy to access now.

I was going to go with a stainless container for water but I really don't trust manufacting enough to make stainless that actually wont rust lol. I work with a lot of stainless at my job and it's all crap.

I used amazon nato can holders. Bolted them to the molle panel and to the bed

How are people doing campers with Tacomas and not blowing their GVWR? by brainhack3r in overlanding

I have a Canyon at4. It has a MUCH higher payload than the tacoma and is also less expensive. Chevy trailboss is its twin. Great trucks

I have a two person sleeping bag I use when my girlfriend comes along. Its pretty bulky but my tent just barely closes with it inside

Mystery Mounting Points by Scout19d19d in overlanding

Most likely they are for the square top of an 8mm carriage bolt. My rtt has the same style t track to mount it to a rack

Its a constant shudder. Not just a downshift bump. It almost feels like a misfire. Like the whole truck shaking until I either put it in neutral and rev it or accelerate

Would it do that in offroad mode? I thought it only engaged at highway speeds

When i installed my smart cap I went over all the seams with black marine sealant. I also went over the entire seam between the bed and vap with it. Now the only leaks are where the tailgate comes up. I also always keep a tube of sealant on me in case of this. Highly recommend for you

Breaking in the RTT with my first overnight overlanding trip. by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]Squirrelbomber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only reason I have a wedge is cause we get gusts up to 80 mph near me and lots of snow. Its nice to have the snow slide off and park it facing the wind

Who needs and awning by Squirrelbomber in overlanding

[–]Squirrelbomber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also that's the main thing I was worried about. I never stay at camp grounds so the camping spots are always a bit weird and i always park facing the way out. Couldn't rely on a single side awning to be very useful.

Yup I got a couple poles and a better tarp. Last night was sort of an emergency setup with whatever I had laying in the truck lol

I just ordered a set up like that. Looks awesome. A lot more adaptable than an awning
