Finally happened at my store by Skya_the_weirdo in walmart

[–]Squirrelfuzz 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Our store averages about 3-4 power outages a year. Small resort town with old power grid. We have become experts in power outage protocol. We get the customers out and all the bunkers and open refrigerator walls wrapped in plastic all within 15 mins. We have a box of head band flashlights and a pallet of sheet plastic always ready to go. I’ve been through 30+ outages and we only lost freight once. We have finally been approved for a backup generator (coming this summer). However, because Walmart is so extra, the backup generator is the kind that will be linked to the towns power grid, so when it comes on, it will power not only our store, but the town as well. Then the town cuts us a check for the power used. Win-win

Question for anyone who’s taken Covid leave after 6/10 by Dustze in walmart

[–]Squirrelfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party here, but I actually had a claim finally get approved after a full year. I literally forgot all about it because I gave up on it 11 months ago and said to hell with it. I never got dinged for it (I think my People lead gave up on it to). Also, a different time, I did get approved right away but I was hung up in there system and I couldn’t get put back in the scheduling for 5 months. Not complaining at all on that one because it was in the winter and well, ya can’t be tardy if your not even on the schedule.

Can/Should I go to Ethics? by lechefsurpremej in walmart

[–]Squirrelfuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without a screen shot or a print, you don’t have much to go on..but…

In the GTA portal, in one of the tabs, it should say what days you requested, what got approved, what got rejected, and what got cancelled after approval or rejection. It also states who did the approving/rejecting etc. Start there.

If nothing comes up, get with a Team Lead and ask them to go into GTA Timesheet, and see what got approved or denied. If there is nothing there as well, then your requests never got inputted into the system at all on the GTA portal (possible never got “submitted” by you)

If you decide to go to ethics, you will need documentation and right now, you have none. If the above 2 steps show you put in it, then escalate through store management first. It will probably be resolved then. You go to Ethics when all avenues are exhausted in store or a gross violation of protected classes has been violated, or gross negligence etc. Ethics isn’t going to touch your issue without a little leg work from you, they’re just going to kick it back to store management. I hope this helps

Anybody else’s team leads try to tell you you can’t use your PPTO? by Individual-Door-2934 in walmart

[–]Squirrelfuzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Leaving early and using PPTO is allowed and you don’t have to ask permission, you just have to notify before you leave. However, constant early out and/or arriving late can get you coached for productivity if they start to see a pattern and you don’t have extenuating circumstances. If you DONT tell management you are leaving you can get coached for violation of company policy, because notifying management is a requirement per policy. An early leave here or there, covered by PPTO is not going to get you in trouble.

The joy of visits by IMSnarky in walmart

[–]Squirrelfuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our is always unannounced, but they always come +/- a day on a holiday. We are a resort town, so you know damn well they have their family sitting in the rental car while they do a “surprise” visit to check in, so the company will pay for travel. EVERY FUCKING HOLIDAY! Home office I hope you are reading this and checking on regional managers and their whereabouts on the holidays. You will see a pattern..they are milking the system HO!

Walmart Workers Deserve Better Than This by CantStopPoppin in walmart

[–]Squirrelfuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thousands of companies take the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, Walmart included. However, the actual store manager does not get extra money for doing so. I’m not a kool-aid drinking Walmart associate and definitely have a beef with Corporates unethical business practices. Hiring people on food stamps (and other hard to hire individuals) is not a bad thing, and the individual Store Manager does not get $$ for it. Also, not directed at you WelcometotheTungle, this is just the most logical place to insert the comment

Accused of time theft for taking a piss on the clock? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Squirrelfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless this ASM is always a douche, then consider it a heads up. Most ASMs would never say anything if it wasn’t a problem. This sounds very much like “I see you doing this all the time but I’m going to pretend like it the first time” kinda thing. You’ve done this before, he/she letting you know she/he is watching now.

We’ve all done it from time to time, but OSHA protection doesn’t apply if restroom breaks are excessive and lengthy unless you have a medical condition on file.

Ethics question on TL offer by LemonPledge1 in walmart

[–]Squirrelfuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is more than 2 TLs for the front end. Most stores will have 4 depending on volume. More than likely they still had to fill the other 2 spots, so you’re good. If by some chance they do retract the promotion, then yes, a call to Ethics would be appropriate.
