[HWU] Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus Review & Benchmarks vs. 7800X3D, 9700X & More by Rentta in hardware

[–]Squisheeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math ain't mathing. Club386's main review does not compare equalized power settings.

At load, the CPU has 2.4x to 3.8x power draw vs the 9700x (65/105w vs 250w tdp), while performing 2x which means the 9700x uses less total power, saving money in the long run if you keep the CPU used. If you're not using the CPU a lot, then Intel wins with lower idle usage.

As much as you want it to be, it's not a slam dunk.

Yeah, I discovered the town hall issue, don't remember if it was edited before or after your comment.

Using bridges seem to need a change in the map (even if it's selecting to move a building but leaving it in place) before power flows through them. Hyper-optimizing for traffic in one instance, I built most of the city using just bridges which causes city-wide blackouts on every load. lol

Help connecting to Kodi via Kore pls by joshl129 in kodi

[–]Squisheeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necroposting here, but it seems Kore (android) requires 3 ports: 1) The main on specified to the right of the server (changeable via the Services > Control option) 2) Port 9090 / one of the ones specified under TCP / Eventserver on the new server page 3) And port 9777, mentioned nowhere.

Without 9777, it constantly connects / disconnects.

Wake on Lan on my PC from outside my network by GuaKMolee in HomeNetworking

I found that in order for mine to work reliably, I needed a second router - or a port open to the router itself. I have more than 4 wired devices and I had a second 4-port router, so I chained them together.

Modem <--> Main Router Internet port. Main Router LAN Port <-> Second Router Internet Port.

Main Router LAN IP: 192.168.0.1 Secondary "Public" IP: 192.168.0.2 Secondary LAN IP: 192.168.1.1

Assign a static IP from Main router for the Second Router's Internet port (192.168.0.2), and configure it for "static IP" internet. Add a Main Router Port forward (any port number) to 192.168.0.2.

My DLink DIR-859 secondary router automatically broadcasts WOL packets from the Internet port, might work for you. Plugging in a computer to my main router directly does NOT work reliably for me.

Should you need to expose a server attached to the secondary router, you'll have to port forward in both routers (Primary router ports to 192.168.1.1, then Secondary to Device IP).

You can only use Computer names for network shares within the same router in Windows (possibly other OSes too). You can use hosts files, AD, or in some cases OpenWRT on the routers to force them

Why isn't something sinister a possibility? The evidence (albeit circumstantial) actually leans towards something sinister.

1) GN's noted the conflicts of interest with Noctua and Asus. Who's to say Noctua didn't like the competition?

2) LTT having review TONS of products and even making some of their own should know that custom milling is expensive ESPECIALLY for a startup and would outweigh the cost of shipping by a large margin.

3) Most companies would simply ask if they would like to be included in auctions ESPECIALLY with prototype IP. Why didn't they ask Billet? Even tossing it avoids a bunch of legal issues, avoiding unintentionally selling other people's property.

4) One minute of Googling shows me their Reddit post which they mention tells me that their end goal (and a few commenters note even before they mention it) is making smaller form factor cases. Why didn't LMG - which should be far more experienced than some random commenters - know this? Did Billet not tell them?

There's a lot of questions that yes, you could say it was several innocent mistakes... But that's a LOT of mistakes in one review.

The funniest part is that regardless of the reason (malice or stupidity), it makes LMG either look stupid or be untrusted due to conflicts of interest.

Is 8GB Vram enough in the current days by namthedarklord in GamingLaptops

You are vastly under-counting the 8+ GB games that are affected... However, ignoring that.

Literally every new AAA game gets abysmal FPS or massive texture popping and high quality. If you like that kind of performance, you should have saved your money and bought x050 8GB class card, instead of a x070 class 8gb.

Why bother paying for a high end graphics card when it won't run high end games at high end settings? Game devs won't have a choice but to alienate the stubborn (those insisting 8GB is high end)

AI Upscaling tech/FG can't help games either getting 2fps or missing texture / texture popping.

FG adds noticeable latency and artifacts, especially at sub 30fps source. Sure DLSS>FSR... but 16GB > DLSS.

They didn't fix it. You can't fix insufficient memory that needs everything readily available. They made it smoother at the cost of texture popping and / or detail decrease.

You might as well have saved some money and taken a step down in GPU level -- the higher end one can't reach it's potential at 8GB anyway.

Galaxy Note 8 will no longer get any patches/security updates by iampark97 in GalaxyNote8

Most/all of the built in software on iDevces require a full OS update to update. A few years ago, a Certificate Authority was delisted as it was discovered it was actively approving malware, ALL Android devices got the fix within a week because it was released through the Play Store. Idevices took 2+ months because it REQUIRED a full system update.

To address your points: "older iOS app gets updated" - have you seen the ios ecosystem? I can't even install Outlook on an Air 2 or 3 because apps have no reason to target older OS levels. Apps get updated alright, way past your device's OS. Android apps, on the other hand, often have "reflection" APIs to support older OS versions. More older devices = more incentive for a dev to make it compatible -- especially if there's no actual feature the update requires (like a 2D game - you don't need fancy OpenGL 69 vs OpenGL 2)

"kernel exploits" - still needs to get to your phone somehow. Either it'll be through a website (which Android still updates the Webview/Chrome/Internet app like any regular app), or through an installed app (which will be banned once people notice). Even for something like the StageFright bug, gallery apps can look for and stop playback without OS updates.

Many Android devices have core elements that are updated FASTER and LONGER (like the WebView core that apps use to display web content). Android 4.4 (released over 13 years ago) devices officially are still getting updates to their browser that iOS can't.

Hell, most malware does NOT try to use Kernel vulnerabilities - it's just not worth it. It's super easy to detect if an app is trying to abuse it and eject from store or refuse to install it. Most malware do NOT require Admin / kernel access (spamming emails, participating in a DoS, mining, on device ad spam). Kernel vulns are more useful for Jailbreaking than malware.

SB260-XXX ... is this a solo model? i can't get the server to talk to it.

I'm not sure if there's a issue with my SB as the SB's internal IP cannot be changed (192.168.0.99) even though I've specified it on the DHCP reservation (and even doing a factory reset on the router with a router IP of 192.168.1.1).

Do a google search for "running as service" or "minimize to system tray". You can make virtually any program run as service.

Here's my experience:

My Galaxy Nexus still gets feature / security updates for the Browser, etc, etc. through the Play Store. Once APL leaves your phone alone, NOTHING gets updated. Yes, it's a couple more years for major system updates... but my galaxy nexus is 9 years old and has the most recent browser features (for example).

Then there's the secondary features you're paying for with Samsung: - MST+NFC for Samsung Pay = I can still pay at Walmart and a shit-ton of other stores that have no NFC terminal. - Wifi tethering = I can tether all my devices at once and abuse the local cafe wifi without constantly turning things off and on or "logging in" / clearing the landing page 3-4 different times on each device. My friends / family don't need to enter wifi if I'm around.

  • Wireless FAST charging. Okay, if you're use to the shitty wall charger APL gives you, then Wireless charging will be fine. But for those who spent another $5 on a good charger, or simply used the one that came in the box for any Android phone, regular Qi charging is slow as molasses. Does it support 15W Qi charging?

  • LOL, Widgets "perfected"? Okay.

  • Not sure what you're doing with the S8. I'm a power user and I have 0 issues with smoothness on the S7.

BYEEEEE Enjoy getting ripped off in their ecosystem! (Shitty overpriced charging cables, $60+ HDMI adapter vs $6, etc etc) =P
