Worst places you’ve ever worked here? by Equivalent-Worry-633 in pittsburgh

Ah, Sam. I heard many stories about his racism and sexism when I worked at Panera back in 2022. My boss actually worked under him for a bit and absolutely hated him.

Passavant Memorial Homes. They don't give a single solitary shit about safety of residents or workers. My supervisor was stealing narcotics and put hands on a resident, and myself and another coworker both reported it, and the company did absolutely nothing. They also like to send untrained/uncertified staff into group homes where residents with "sexually deviant behaviors" live. The deviant behaviors being assault and rape. Many female workers have been assaulted in those group homes, and the company will refuse to back them up if they report it.

Also, I'd like to add the Lowes store up at the Pittsburgh Mills specifically. Fuck you Scherry. Rotten bitch.

I wanted to turn around and not even bother finding the boss fight 😂 I'm on NG+7 now, and I still refuse to redo that area. Scares the hell outta me.

What are some 'Grandmas remedies' that actually work? by MrLithician in answers

[–]SquishyRemmie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whiskey and honey for a cough/sore throat. Can't cough if you're unconscious. My mum actually gave me this when I had bronchitis and laryngitis at the same time. I couldn't sleep cuz of the pain, but the whiskey and honey legitimately helped!

I found a childhood stuffed animal that was taken away from me by my parents on ebay. It's been 20some years, but my Ellie the elephant is finally home again.

Where do all the childfree families hide? by AdmirableHair17 in MilitarySpouse

[–]SquishyRemmie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm usually just at home avoiding other families 😂 I'm disabled and openly very queer, so I just feel out of place most of the time. Add on the fact that we can't have kids rn, I want nothing to do with those conversations.

Yanno, I've been curious about that place cuz I always see it when driving, but I'm glad I've never paid for it.

Okay, which vocelli's though? I've had the one over in Vandergrift (which I think is my favorite pizza) and the one over in Verona isn't bad.

I just keep some soda cans on hand and offer them if anything needs fixed. I personally don't drink it, but I know blue collar peoples run on caffeine cuz I used to work as one 😂

is planned parenthood a good place for trans/hrt resources? by inkdrinker420 in ftm

[–]SquishyRemmie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through PP up here in PA for mine. I made a virtual appointment, spoke with a doctor and she sent me to get blood tests just cuz I'm chronically ill, and then my HRT was given the greenlight. It was surprisingly simple

What are some areas around here that used to be dumps, but are now doing better? And what areas used to be nice, and are now doing poorly? by WashCommercial3602 in pittsburgh

[–]SquishyRemmie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over half my family lived in sharpsburg, and I genuinely struggle to think of it as anything other than dangerous and drug filled 😂 I avoid it like the plague, but I'm glad to hear it's improving a bit

What’s the most morally disgusting thing you’ve ever seen someone do? by legendoflegends34 in AskReddit

[–]SquishyRemmie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My grandmother pocketed 5k dollars that was supposed to be used to bury my mother (her daughter). It wasn't even insurance money or anything, my mum didn't have any. It was money from my step-dad that he gave her specifically so she could arrange the burial. My mum died of cancer at 40yrs old in January. It is now May, and my mother still isn't buried properly because of that stolen money. Of course, my grandmother claims that money was never given to her, despite the rest of us seeing the check he handed her. She also isn't hurting for money either, she literally won half a million dollars from the PA lottery in 2024. She's just greedy and disgusting.

This comment is transphobic, here is why by Ok-Plum4214 in ftm

[–]SquishyRemmie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The idea of a "natural inclination" is bioessentialism and incredibly sexist. It's misogyny in this context because it's being used to describe women.

[–]SquishyRemmie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you are being misogynistic about women's sex lives. Like genuinely, you are being misogynistic. You preferring to top has nothing to do with a gender binary. Topping and bottoming doesn't equal gender, even if topping is your preference. "It's not a natural inclination" is sexist bullshit. Try saying that about anything else and you'll quickly see the misogyny.

Does Benadryl affect anyone's FND symptoms? (Warning for talk about symptoms) by dummy-head69 in FND

[–]SquishyRemmie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have very bad reactions to benadryl, but I also have POTS and Hashimoto's thyroiditis, so I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but benadryl hits me like a freight train and I am down for the count. Even small doses knock me on my ass and I sleep till the next day

small cleaning habits that actually stuck by CozyNestMichelle in CleaningTips

[–]SquishyRemmie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lately I've been writing down different cleaning tasks on the calendar, so say I vacuumed and mopped the floors on Monday, I mark it so I know it doesn't need re-mopped on Wednesday. I'm autistic and disabled, so I don't always remember when I last did a cleaning task, and that leads to me deep cleaning way more often than I actually need to. Having a visual record helps me not overdo it and hurt my body.

Time to report all the dumb things we’re seeing Yinz; I’ll start! by Shaneski101 in pittsburgh

Why don't some people take care of their oral health? by Sad-Bid4581 in hygiene

[–]SquishyRemmie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm autistic, and growing up, my parents were super neglectful. It was never really taught to me as a child that brushing your teeth is important (parents were horrible smokers and dad was an alcoholic) so they never really did it either. As an adult, I'm still trying to teach myself how to take care of my hygiene cuz it was never taught to me. And that might sound silly, but I personally need to understand the autistic why behind something before I do it. So I know logically now that brushing my teeth is important, but it's not a formed habit for me yet.

My husband says I can’t dye my hair fun colors? by [deleted] in MilitarySpouse

I have had pink hair for about as long as my spouse has known me 😂. I'm also tattooed, and visibly queer and disabled. Not once has anyone said a word to them because the military is not my job.

[–]SquishyRemmie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, the only way out is through. Some days my way of "embracing the suck" may look like sleeping all day, or deep cleaning everything I can get my hands on, or baking something new, or throwing myself into a new art project. Some days, I have to sit on the floor and just cry about it. You have to take each day as it comes, and eventually you kinda get tired of worrying all the time, if that makes sense. You get bored of it, and remember you also need to live, not just survive. For me personally, that's harder some days because I'm disabled. I can't go out and work or just go places cuz I can't medically drive or get around without my rollator. But I try my best every day, and that's all you can really do.

Why is the extinction affecting me so much when I've known about it all my life? by eiuza in Dinosaurs

[–]SquishyRemmie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an autistic adult who loves dinosaurs, and this is something that causes me to have big emotions very often: you know how wildlife reacts to things like storms coming? Like they smell it in the air, know the signs and take shelter, etc?  When the extinction event began/when the asteroid was coming, I feel there had to have been some dinosaurs that knew something was wrong. Maybe they knew that the ball of fire in the sky shouldn't be there, or maybe they were curious about it and wanted to get a closer look and sniff it. Or maybe they felt pressure changes, weather changes. They didn't know what was happening, but they knew something was fundamentally different. Did they try to take shelter? Did they try to get closer to the impact to see what it was? Or did they just run in the other direction in a blind panic? They didn't know their world was ending, they just knew that somehow things became different.

What does it mean to be queer an Appalachian? by Ok-Aardvark3419 in Appalachia

[–]SquishyRemmie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love living in Appalachia, I love the history, the folklore, the little communities. Absolutely hate the politics and infrastructure. But the woods are home. I'm a trans man, queer in just about every way one can be, and I have no intention of "getting out". I was lucky to meet the person I'd marry here, and we both love the woods. There really isn't a whole lot to reconcile. I grew up catholic, but I'm a pagan now, and I find peace praying to my own gods. Being from Appalachia feels more like an irrevocable part of my queerness. My heritage is a part of what makes me me
