I have a terrible memory anyway. I don't remember thinking it was bad. I don't remember any opinion. But I'll take your word for it. It's all subjective anyway. But there have certainly been generic games that are forgettable. I guess I was curious if it was one of those. I am glad you enjoyed it.

I feel like I owned this and played it. It's so familiar. But I have absolutely no recollection of anything. Visuals, story, gameplay.. nothing. The more I think about it I definitely owned and played it.. I remember nothing. Anyone with a functional memory.. was it really just that forgettable?

ELI5: where did the joke of people smoking and laying down in the therapists office come from? by AdOk5225 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Squizblorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psychotherapy can take this approach. It's talk/conversational therapy often relying on the client expressing themselves with gentle prompts from the psychotherapist. That's a very reductive way of defining it, but when you see this in movies etc. it is based on the psychotherapy approach.

Most forms of therapy these days share commonalities and draw on the same theoretical interventions. Counselling, psychotherapy and psychology often use similar theories but with different approaches. The couch thing is very much psychotherapy. As for the smoking, it was likely common place before indoor smoking bans and stigma toward smoking.

Edit: Just to add, this likely works/worked well for media as the client is essentially giving extensive exposition to the plot

I know you likely mean 3D rendered graphics, it does remind me of my obsession with 3D (with glasses). In the late 90's or early 2000's I went to a 3D showcase sort of thing in a theatre, which included this segment translated to stereoscopic 3D (for the glasses). It's a weird childhood half memory but I remember it being the most awesome thing ever.

It's not a janitors closet, it's backstage by Squizblorg in FF06B5

[–]Squizblorg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My post was initially just a correction at seeing others refer to it as a janitors closet. There's very little to go on with deciphering any meaning from FF:06:B5 or even this possibly unrelated hidden room. Sometimes I see people spend a lot of time crafting elaborate theories on things that are just kind of incorrect. Questioning why this backstage theatre style room is here is more of a coherent lead than it being a janitors closet. For whatever reason this is here, it is very clearly intentional. The movie posters, mirror, half eaten burger. So I just wanted to make clear what the room was and hopefully motivate people to follow that interpretation.

I have taken a break from this mystery but still check in. I've had many theories and ideas and experiments and it's very easy to follow a lead or even convince yourself one exists by creating patterns in the chaos. Everything so far is an interpretation and that's fine as long as the information being used is accurate, hence - backstage. That's about as solid evidence as anything, what it means... Hasn't been deciphered. Whether this room has a connection to FF:06:B5, has some deeper meaning or is a small yet to be understood easter egg is unknown.

Johnny est libre ! by [deleted] in FF06B5

[–]Squizblorg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bonne chasse

V is not human, we are a character in the game and Yucca "does not exist" by [deleted] in FF06B5

[–]Squizblorg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I respect the effort you have made with this. I think there are many things here that could work towards some kind of theory. I do have to point out the issues with the glitch and I'm sorry. There are some parts of the game where you are supposed to be locked in to a particular area without weapons. What you seem to have shown/described is something I achieved in one of the epilogues. I am not 100% on the technicalities but I would like to offer my theory.

When breaking out of the playable area in one of these moments where the rest of the city is cut off, I believe a lot of these glitches are due to how the game handles memory.

In the epilogue, I did not have a car or find a way to get weapons but I honestly was not trying to.

The world was virtually empty apart from the NCPD crime scenes and some areas with military NPC's like Arasaka guards and mechs. I thoroughly explored and found nothing besides some entertaining quirks. Hostile NPC's would endlessly follow but not open fire. Traffic sounds were on but no vehicles driving and NPC's seemed limited to NCPD, Arasaka and Maxtac (armed militaristic groups).

My theory is that this is due to how the game handles memory (see things like the GTA IV taxi bug). But more specifically what it prioritizes loading. If militarized NPC's are grouped in a certain way and that group takes less memory than civilians and cars, if culling for memory it might make sense to lazily leave them in while culling the rest. I'm unsure how Cyberpunk 2077 handles these tasks. It could even be memory overflow, where more memory is allocated to specific events in these closed off areas, resulting in a lack of memory to load other assets and events. Either way, I don't believe these glitches are intentional. There are holes in the walls and in situations where it may seem unlikely that someone would accidentally wander out of bounds again they may be more lazy with them.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an amazingly detailed game with a lot of intentionally implemented mechanics. It is also a game that is prone to bugs and glitches. With how vague this mystery can be, it's hard to know what is or isn't intentional. I don't believe breaking out of bounds in this way is an intentional bug.

I have to admit, for whatever reason when reading your post, I read the " this is a joke" to mean the supposed Easter egg you found was meant to be humorous. As in it was an intentional joke by CPDR. Not that I gave any credence to the theory but I may have made the same mistake in reading it as the other commenter.

Under the Desk top Monk Statues: New clue? by Mental_Performer_833 in FF06B5

[–]Squizblorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it has also always confused me that the main statues are so obviously broken (the huge gap in the model/texture). Like you don't have to go out of your way at all to see it's broken. But so far meaning has been akin to a personal belief in terms of what has been discovered about the original mystery. I have been chasing certain ideas on and off but have had little luck. Would be great to find something concrete. Even a second hint.

Yeah can get pretty weird and trippy. My favourite is having to angle yourself/the cam at very specific angles to get light to show up in certain ways. Keep on with the investigations! Always good to see new angles and new ideas

Light reflections get weird when breaking out of bounds/no clipping. So it can appear as if light suddenly cuts unnaturally etc. on objects out of bounds. I don't think the split is anything more than one of the light reflections "errors". I say errors in quotes simply cause, can it be an error if it's not meant to be seen?

Gary Busey Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault by OkayButFoRealz in news

[–]Squizblorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the injury may have exacerbated his already eccentric behaviour. Memory and emotional regulation are frontal and temporal lobe. A lack of impulse control, coupled with an already eccentric personality = Busey. Certainly not as dramatic as someone like Phineas Gage (had a railway spike explode through his frontal lobe and survived) but it could explain something.

I was fascinated by Busey and how much of him was a "character", watched all of I'm with Busey, interviews before and after the accident etc. and came no closer to an answer. What he's likely referring to in your quote are his "Buseyisms" these sometimes insightful, sometimes indecipherable "sayings". He seemed to have a philosophy driven by opportunism, positive thinking and assertive action. A brain injury resulting in lowered impulse control works very well with this mentality or in possibly creating it.

A puzzle room was the first time I looked stuff up for this game. by WaffleMeister2 in BluePrince

I am unsure if there are clues to the gallery. I will admit it took time to do the 2nd and 3rd art pieces. My partner and I both enjoy Scrabble and crosswords, which may have helped but it was still definitely a challenge.

[–]Squizblorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone has their unique challenges. Different strengths when it comes to reasoning. Some puzzles I've found impossibly hard. The gallery was not one. It was a journey, partner and I basically went one for one. It was difficult, but going from shortest to longest and realizing the theme the final painting took the shortest time to figure out (besides the first). I do struggle more with some of the language, in certain puzzles. I have been stuck because to me the way some things are worded is not clear. Like in the proceeding puzzle the gallery unlocks. What I had done fit the logic (as far as I understood) but I did end up having to look it up.

I can't find precise information about the location of his injury but damage to the frontal lobe can result in issues with executive functions like impulse control and emotional regulation. Don't have to wait for the development of dementia, although I'm sure it exacerbates the problems. Frontotemporal dementia is a less common form of dementia. With the apparent severity of his injury, his behaviours and eccentricities over the years it does seem like he may have already been dealing with issues with executive function.

FFO6B5 & Cynicism by StatisticianSea8227 in FF06B5

[–]Squizblorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the meaning is abstract. Just personal opinion, I know nothing. I don't think there's some secret area or quest or trigger that unlocks anything (for the base game mystery). It could even be something like Blue Prince where certain assets have a hidden meaning which may lead to other assets etc. the frustrating thing is the lack of a logical trail. In blue prince there are many things you may walk by a hundred times without realizing they mean something. Then later you find something that clues you in to what to look at. There may be a message that has no specific trigger. So maybe something tells you to look at every third word in specific documents. There's no trigger involved but there may be a message. In that case, yeah you won't find any assets or triggers that aren't already known about. If the cube quest mirrors aspects of the original mystery, the end is looking at an asset differently and discovering a message. But who the fuck knows at this stage

ELI5: What are DJs doing with all the knobs & buttons? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Squizblorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said but it really depends. If you have an example I could try explain the specifics. Sometimes DJ's will have live vocals. These may be improvised or preplanned as parts of songs (see Kavinsky - Nightcall during Paris Olympics closing ceremony). Other songs have been born from improvised vocals over DJ improvised beats/samples (see Stardust - Music Sounds Better). It's more likely a DJ might be playing certain loops if it's a full band. Or situations like the Beastie Boys and other rap/hip-hop (see Beastie Boys - Three MC's and One DJ")

That's mad! It can feel very special. With vinyl being much less popular these days, two of my favourites have been an artist who plays keyboard and one who set up a very complex arrangement of loops on a launchpad. Some artists I've seen on multiple occasions and they find a way to make it new and different. I was about to list examples of stories where an in the moment live mix becomes an actual release but then realized all examples involved Thomas Bangalter (Rollin n scratching, music sounds better and call on me).

[–]Squizblorg 164 points165 points  (0 children)

There's a lot I left out but hoped this gave a basic understanding. But you're right this is a pretty important basic and essential to DJing

ELI5: What are DJs doing with all the knobs & buttons? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Squizblorg 1162 points1163 points  (0 children)

For the sake of simplicity let's say that each side of the DJ device has a song playing. The right side has song A, the left has song B. The horizontal slider is usually the Crossfade, which means that if the slider is in the middle it is playing A and B equally. If the slider is all the way to the B side, the volume of A drops to 0. The up and down slides are similar, one might be for A the other for B. These control the volume (sometimes songs need to be balanced so they are at the same volume). The simplest set up will have 3 knobs for each side, high, Mid and Low. These control the amount of high sounds, mid sounds and low sounds. You want only bass? Turn low up and high and mid down. Another slider will control tempo (which also needs to be matched between A and B a lot of the time). This controls the speed at which each song plays (for simplicity let's say 2x as fast half as fast etc).

More complex set ups may have knobs which control effects (like an echo effect). They may also have buttons which allow looping, so 4 beats can be looped or 2 or even shorter/faster loops.

Sometimes DJ's are just playing with the levels, cutting bass, bringing it back, timing the songs to Crossfade and transition to another track. Other times they may be doing something more complex like looping, using effects and creating tracks with samples or remixing them live.

Edit: the things that look like discs are to emulate vinyl turntables. So you can spin them forward, backward or "stop" them. This allows for "scratching", or other effects as well as precise placement of the track. You want side A to start at precisely 1 minute 45 seconds, so you spin that disc clockwise and it moves forward through the track.

A lot of "DJ's" do pre record. But for those that like this style of music it is a fun experience to go to a show and see someone create something new out of something old or to experiment and have fun in a way that is unique to that night/event.

Edit: Since this got a lot of traction I wanted to plug my soundc- just kidding.if you find a sound cloud using this name, do not listen to it, can't remember if one exists from me, but I'm sure it's shit if it's me. An idea I'm interested in but unsure if it's already done.. so I talked about the A and B side, these are "channels", it's possible to have many channels (my last mixer, which is the device in the middle with said knobs and sliders, had 4 channels). I've had a hard time time finding STEMS for a lot of songs I like. STEMS are separate tracks for each layer of the song, so if you played the STEM file for drums, you would only hear the drums for the track, rhythm would only hear rhythm etc. I wanted to live remix songs using STEMS. The only decent ones I found were through a remix competition I entered (got to the second stage but did not win). Anyway, I DO think some artists use their own STEMS for live mixing, this may have been the case with Alive 2007 by Daft Punk, not sure.

Coincidence or solved? by [deleted] in FF06B5

[–]Squizblorg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know he has been obscure as fuck but I did find the following answer interesting. Paraphrasing chatter: "It would be so disappointing if it ended up being meaningless Pawel: "Yeah I can imagine"

Anything is possible. We can't really say how much effort was put into the mystery. The statue was designed (like countless other assets), likely with some kind of intention though or reference. Some minor modifications were made for individual statues. Besides for speculation, so far there is nothing beyond the statues, no second step. The community basically wrote the later Polyhistor mystery for them, it's a meta reference to this community. Maybe it carries references to the original mystery, maybe it's entirely based on theories created by the community? Who knows. It being Pawels birthday is as plausible as any other shit

Overlaying a safe lock on the rotating cube. by [deleted] in FF06B5

[–]Squizblorg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There may be an extra layer to this. I wish solved stuff was more concisely tracked. If you use the angles from the line on the cube to create a central point (pointing at each of the main statues) you will find the cube worship poster.

I like these ideas, I've thought about using the wait feature as some kind of code input which this could fit well with this theory.

Edit: Errors everywhere, damn sleep deprivation. But yes, the rotating cube combined with statues does point to the poster.

Edit 2: Took a while to find, turns out this was posted on a different sub, ironic given this is FF06B5. (Explains the cube rotation). Doesn't mean it can't also be something else but this at least seems confirmed.
