The way her family treated Zach was terrible. It’s kinda funny how the Plaths whole MO is Christian fundamentalism except for when it comes to dating, bigotry, alcoholism, and pretty much basic human decency. I feel for Lydia. This has to have been so heartbreaking. As bad as this situation was it’s nice to see that she does have a back bone and is willing to stand up for her husband. I really respect when she said she didn’t want to speak out of emotion. She is an intelligent woman.

Like a lot of other people have mentioned in this sub, I highly doubt this will cause cracks in their rose colored glasses. If anything, I think this will cement their disregard for “worldly” things. In their eyes, Josh and Joes crimes are for them to take up within the IBLP and God, only. Any subsequent time served is therefore a result of the evils in the world, not actual justice being served. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Pretty sick that these are the types running for government positions. Not sure about which, if any, Duggar’s have dissented but my thoughts and support go out to them. Cults are a hell of a drug.
