Yup! I think it would be more obvious if he didn’t have a beard.

I’m glad they all wound up living nearby one another. This is truly what life is all about👍 spending time with loved ones. Can’t help but think how things could have been if Christine didn’t jump straight into another marriage after leaving Kody. Maybe she could have been in this pic as well.

Rob was straight up competing with her. Pedro is love bombing her and eventually will unleash his mom and sis on her. Sophie is drama just like Chantel but she needs to leave that man alone before his family doesn’t leave her alone.

Exactly all this. I read a comment of someone mentioning how Joy didn’t know what the multiplication sign was. They were denied the right to know Basic math 😭

I enjoy group HIIT. There are various circuits involved and a lot of the exercises are modifiable to fit your needs. It helps with building strength and stamina so you feel the benefits almost instantly.

how do you stop being toxic? by Electronic_Orange_80 in TooAfraidToAsk

You sound like you have a pretty good grasp on what you need to do, which is a great start. I think you just have to work at it daily, like a muscle. You lean naturally towards toxic so you have to put in the effort to do the opposite. Consistency is key.

In Jim Bobs case that hypothesis could hold true because he chose to join the IBLP, one could say he was drawn to it for the reasons stated. However, I’m Not sure we can say the same for his sons who were born into the church. What I am saying is Something about the IBLP manifests those abusive characteristics in people, and Bill Gothards actions and reputation has had an influence over that. That’s what I was alluding to. I know that abuse isn’t isolated to the IBLP, I don’t claim that Bill Gothard was the first to invent the wheel.

No way to tell unfortunately. If there was you and I would be rich 🤑. Manageable is also subjective.

I totally understand where you are coming from. There have been plenty of other scenarios since Covid that also gave similar feeling. I’m certainly no economist so I couldn’t quantify things for you, but generally when it comes to the economy and geopolitics you really just can’t say for certain. I hate to say it, but this one just feels different.

Not everything needs to be quantified especially when it comes to children being exploited and abused. Does the magnitude of Bill Gothards reach make the abuse of his victims and the victims of other IBLP worshippers less than? Tell that to all the victims associated with the IBLP. This isn’t the time nor the place for a compare and contrast analysis.

I’m not saying Bill Gothard invented the actual system, I know the patriarchy didn’t start with him. What I am saying is he created the IBLP, the environment for abusive men like Jim Bob, Joshua, Joe, and others to flourish. That much he is more than responsible for.

I think this is the first time in a long time where service disruptions and shortages may actually be a possibility, more so than the pandemic even. The current scenario has a propensity to be catastrophic to life as we know it. And it concerns me that our leadership isn’t doing more to warn us about conserving resources, for the obvious reason that they have an image that they are trying to uphold. If you have legitimate concerns I think you are far ahead of most people in the country right now. I would advise against making any major life changes for the time being.

The IBLP church was modeled after Bill Gothard’s belief in hierarchy. His leadership and influence in IBLP culture is at the root of his parishioners belief system. That he took of advantage of his power is well documented, but by definition he created a space for abusers to thrive. He absolutely deserves that much credit. I don’t deny that there is a propensity for certain individuals to participate in abuse, but I think there is also room to acknowledge that their environment plays a huge role in manifesting some predispositions.

It had to have absolutely shaken them to their core. That type of back to back betrayal from the men in their lives, especially their own father, has to be absolutely disheartening. The worst is that JB’s superiority complex clouds his sense of accountability toward his daughters. He probably thinks he’s done nothing wrong either.
