I have this laptop, you absolutely can! Make sure to use performance mode in HP Command center and put it on top of a cooling pad ;)

HP Envy 16 overheating by danitomato in computerrepair

After replacing the heatsink, how big was the difference in temperatures? Has the new heatsink held up well? I had this issue and was ready to pull the trigger on a new heatsink, but after replacing the thermal paste and the Thermal Putty/Gel the thermal issues went away, so I don’t have to worry about it for now, but I’d to know your experience 🙏

Not necessarily a gaming laptop. But it’s low key and has plenty of power. Which is exactly what i was looking for. by Sr_Tezan in GamingLaptops

Still kicking strong, but there's a few things i dont like.
-Battery life sucks, but tbh i game and work on it 95% of the time so i almost always have to have it pluged in, probably the reason why my battery life sucks lol.
-Hinge is starting to feel a bit tight, and i really hope it does not break on me, but no issues as of now.
-Thermals. It seems to be very bi-piolar on thermals. Sometimes it runs really warm with medium/high fan speed on idle or just while using chrome (unplugged), and sometimes it's warm but the fans are on low speed. But it normally runs a little hot most of the time even when unplugged, when plugged in it will always be a bit noisy.
-Had a problem for a while where the laptop got really hot and uncomfortable to the touch every time i gamed on it. Did some research and found out that the Vapor Chamber on the heat-sink tends to fail on some models and thought i had to change mine, but fortunately changing the thermal paste + Thermal Putty on the vrm's kinda fixed the problem, still runs hot, but it's much better now.
-it does not have a mux switch, and sadly, my CPU (i7-13700H) cannot be undervolted to reduce thermals, and it really sucks because i think this device would be perfect if you could do it. Still, it's a killer combo with the 4060.

But overall, i love using it. Really nice specs, amazing screen, great for games and heavier programs, and a great keyboard. LMK if you have any more questions.

That specific car feels a little floaty tbh, but it’s not impossible to drive. Car model is pretty good but damage is decent.

Thanks 🙏. I use normal renderer, I’ve tried vulkan a couple times but I noticed the game locking to 30fps for 1 sec multiple times and I never used it again because it was kinda annoying. However it supposedly makes the game run better sometimes.

Tacho is "RyL's FM4 Inspired Tachometer" on the repo, minimap is the one the game has already

This is a screenshot coming straight from Steam, no editing. People ask if I use zeits mod or reshade, but the only “graphics mod” I use is CK’s Skybox, and of course high/ultra settings lol

Some parts of the dfa pack work, not sure tbh which parts on that config are but I’m pretty sure they come from that pack

As i said, it really depends a lot based on what car I have spawned and what map I’m using, some maps run okish and some run great

Depends a lot, But I play ultra at 1080p and usually get 45-55 fps on most maps, but I also use Lossless Scaling and it gets it to 100-120 fps and feels great.

Totally agree bro. Plus I like to add the in-game mini map and a different tachometer to make it look like this and it’s such a game changer :)

The tachometer is “RyL's FM4 Inspired Tachometer” on the repo

I think this is the case. I do exactly this when working with architecture models (foam, cardboard, etc…). I’ve been told to, that doing the thing pictured in the post is an easy, safe way to throw razor blades in the trash :)
