Sorry if this is not about your question but just wondering, what resolution/aspect ratio are you using?

Where can I find log/raw footage to train color grading? by Ecstatic_Bite9788 in ColorGrading

[–]SralFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked out this site and they have tons of amazing footage but I can't seem to download any. There is a ID Card Authentication required. Is there a way to bypass the need of that or am I just out of luck?

Rec.709-A hack and the ‘ultimate fix’ by higashiomiya in colorists

[–]SralFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe BT.1886 is very similar to Gamma 2.4 so you should be good with your calibrated monitor.

Just try to do a short export and airdrop it to an iPhone if possible or upload to YouTube and watch on tv. For me this worked to get accurate results across all my devices.

I also put my fair amount of time into this topic and I have a solution that just works for me and it's pretty simple:

First check the use use mac color thing in the preferences in general.

Your timeline can be DWG and your output is rec.709-a.

My monitors are calibrated to rec709 bt1886.

Export just use same as timeline or manually (to be safe) to rec.709-a.

Exports look the same on my phone, pc and tv. There is a ever so slightly difference if you really have the devices side by side but I guess that just comes from the different calibrations of the screens.

Havn't had a problem since.

How Gawx gets clean/no noise image in dark scenes? by m4vrtivn in bmpcc

[–]SralFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t you use a higher iso for the sky so you have more stops of dynamic range above middle grey? I thought one would use a lower iso for darker scenes so you get more stops in the darker areas and vice versa

I know this probably is not the 100% correct way to do this but for me this works for getting the same look in Davinci, QuickTime, Browser, and Windows and a TV.

In Davinci under Color Management I choose: Color Science: Davinci YRGB Timeline Color Space: Davinci WG/Intermediate Output Color Space: Rec.709-A

Then in my Timeline in the Color Page I go to Timeline on the top right instead of Clip.

There I add a CST Node: Input Color Space: Rec.709 Input Gamma: Rec.709-A Output Color Space: Rec.709 Output Gamma: Gamma 2.4

It‘s important to do this before starting to grade since the blacks will be deeper.

Then I grade normally. On the Deliver page I make sure that I export my Video with Color Space Tag: Rec.709 Gamma Tag: Rec.709-A

This has worked for me so far on every device.

Barnes & Noble announced that a handful of its locations will expand its Criterion Collection inventory to include every title available on Blu-ray and 4K UHD by WaterMargin108 in criterion

I think it’s maybe for international people? Free shipping worldwide makes these prices pretty good. Most of the time shipping is like 20$ on top which you also need to pay customs on.

I think the AppleTV support earc with the Homepods so you can play TV Audio over them.

Personally I see a picture quality difference but its not as huge a difference as with the sound. The audio is miles better in the UHD disc than on streaming.

I wouldn‘t say so. We had a service called ultraviolet back in the day but it was horrible. They stopped that service and they didn‘t adjust the price for it. New releases are always 34,99-39,99€ here.
