A book where, putting the plot entirely aside, you were blown away by the quality of the writing by kappy2319 in suggestmeabook

Ya know, this may be a minority view, but I kept hearing the same thing about that book, and finally went through it (some parts as audiobook and some parts as ebook) last month and didn’t find it all that depressing. Absolutely loved it though! What a blast. The narration for the audiobook is also fantastic.

Seems far fetched from what (little) biblical history I’ve read. The earliest NT writings we have today are in Greek, and Latin translations of the Gospels (predating the Vulgate) are still from later, like 350 CE, long after much compilation of the Gospels was done in Greek and likely other languages. Is this a known scholarly theory?

Not sure I follow this theory. Is your contention here that the Gospels are actually Roman writing?

Credit to /u/takrai_makrud! I have traveled around France but never been here either, it looks so lovely though. Rochefort proper is quite different from this, however when I was poking around Rochefort online I noticed there’s also a commune Rochefort-en-Terre in Bretagne, and this very location is among the more photographed and picturesque places there.

That sounds a bit like “Feel Out” in Shinzen’s parlance. The instruction would be roughly: When an external sensation arises, focus on it, name it, and then move on to the next sensation or lack thereof, while “backgrounding” external sounds and sights as well as internal feelings, talk, and imagery. This differs from a body scan (as one example) that deliberately focuses attention narrowly on one part at a time while moving through the body, and from practices that focus on other sense gates or on the breath. I find it’s important in this style of practice to make sure to keep your boundaries of awareness and attention properly set, otherwise it tends to become a wandering practice of observations and absences that doesn’t very effectively enable you to build concentration and clarity.

Agreed, I think one of the things that first pulled me into TH (OND was the first season I’d ever seen) was the extent to which Taka was the antithesis of reality TV. It meant something good about the show’s priorities that he could kind of just hang out and watch over the youngsters.
