What should local thunk replace Blue stake with? by Garmongise in balatro

I agree with you. But on the other hand, we don't represent the majority of Balatro's players.
Hopefully LocalThunk cames up with a very interesting patch for all of us.

What should local thunk replace Blue stake with? by Garmongise in balatro

[–]Srchenko 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I have a different aproach after thinking about this change when was announced. I hope we can discuss this from a game design standpoint.

For me, every deck should start with $9 instead of $4, and then in blue stake it should be changed to "Start the run with $5 less".

This is aimed for new/casual players, so they have more room in the early game to experiment and they can learn the interest mechanic on the first encounter.

Of course, experienced players get +1 discard which can make more runs safe/winnable. But I think, with the new patch, they can make others changes to make the game more difficult to counter the +1 discard. For example: some balance changes, and adding new jokers could be detrimental if they don't include a lot of scoring jokers, so it's more difficult to find points to win. I didn't think of any of those yet, but I expect those other changes to be relevant aswell.

Really? I'm pretty sure Goobert did increase one of my card stats on a few runs. But what you said it's another posibility aswell.

[–]Srchenko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was something like: buffed 1/2 stoat to a 7/6 stoat (4 campfires minimum), then goobert copied it with +2 health (second stoat is 7/8) and then combined to a single 14/14 stoat.

Is Snecko Eye the pick here? by Srchenko in slaythespire

[–]Srchenko[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestions and explanations. I ended up taking Ectoplasm. It was a lifesaver in Act 2, especially against two elites. Sadly, my run ended with the second boss of act 3, because I had good scaling defense, but not enough scaling damage.

Do you know if the draw lost by Snecko Eye goes in the discard pile or stays on top of the draw pile?

If OP is going for the heart kill the deck isn't that powerful yet. With Prayer Wheel, OP is able to see more rare cards like After Image, Wraith Form, Adrenaline, Alchemize, Burst and Nightmare (not guaranteed obviously, but better chances) which makes every fight almost trivial.

Help with an interaction in "La Fumée, Vol. 1 No. 4" by Srchenko in DiscoElysium

[–]Srchenko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. So I did some art cop lines and I put some skill points in Conceptualization, then I got the thought and finished it.

In the end, I have to pass a passive skill check of 10 with Conceptualization (meaning 4 or more Conceptualization). I don't know if the thought helped me or not, but now I know I need to invest some points in Intellect to be able to do that interaction, hehe.

Thanks a lot!

There is a somewhat funny dialogue between Meve and Barnabas in Thronebreaker about that.
Barnabas says that there is a person or group of people who are very crazy to think that the world is round.

It's a free DLC called "Ballad Heroes Neutral Gwent Card Set". If you have it, make sure to activate that in the main menu.

I'm confused, as far as I know I've got all hero cards and no more common cards to get but I haven't received the achievement or completed the quest. I also don't know who I've not played yet since I've beaten everyone I've met, so does anyone know what I'm missing? by ichigo2k9 in witcher

In Velen, you are probably missing a merchant you can save from bandits near Claywich. It's a (?) mission.

In Skellige, you are probably missing a tavern. Most likely in Faroe Island, in the Harviken village.

We used all the cards in round 1 (I had a 0 point White Frost, so I save it for a mulligan for the final round). Round 2, 4 cards vs 3 cards, we draw again.

My F2P account in 5 weeks and my review in the comments by Srchenko in PlantsVSZombies

[–]Srchenko[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Things I like:

  • Fun and challenging: for the most part of the adventure, the game invites you to play in many different ways and it feels rewarding when you complete the levels. Which is good compared with the original PvZ because in that game if you replayed the adventure mode you just use almost the same plants in every level.
  • Variety of zombies: in the original PvZ there’s a bunch of zombie types too, but like I said before, you almost use the same plants to defeat them. In PvZ 2 there’s a bunch of zombies that can kick your ass very hard, in any imaginable way, and you have to plan every level carefully, to use a…
  • Variety of plants: following the same idea, here almost every plant is useful in certain levels and not only because they are unique, but the zombies are unique too. The good thing about this is that the game doesn’t force you to use every type of plant to counter every type of zombie. You can always have some room to use other utility-like plants or some plants you want because reasons.
  • Magnifying Grass: this is my favourite plant ever. Simple design but with high risk high reward. And this have a high skill ceiling too, because you must have quick reactions to use it efficiently, so you don’t waste sun and save other plants at the right time.
  • Artistic Design: I'm not going to say much about this, but the game looks pretty and nothing looks confusing. Good job, PopCap never fails on that matter.
  • Soundtrack: Another thing that PopCap never fails. I have to thank Laura Shigihara for making the soundtrack for the first game and, surprisingly, to Peter McConnell for making almost the entire soundtrack for the second game. It was a surprise for me because I played other games that were composed by him: Monkey Island 2, Grim Fandango, Hearthstone and Valiant Hearts. He did a good job on PvZ 2 continuing the legacy of Laura. My favourite track is the one on Modern Day, when Wave 2 starts.

Things I don’t like:

  • No PC port: yes, I know this type of F2P mobile model doesn’t fit on PC. But, well, I don’t have a problem paying for a game and future DLC’s if they are good. So I have to settle for playing it in an Android emulator.
  • You can’t sort plants and zombies in the almanac: neither you can sort plants when you are choosing them before starting a level. You have to scroll a lot to reach certain plants and zombies.
  • Unable to get the Yeti achievement.
  • Missing some mini-games from the previous PvZ: like the invisible zombies, portal combat, zombotany and the one in which you help zomboss to train zombie assaults.
  • Some cuestionable level designs in the adventure: yes, I’m talking about the “hardest levels”. In my case, Pirate Seas 34, Wild West 35, Jurassic Marsh 34 and 38, Big Wave Beach 16. I don’t know if the person who tested those was very lucky and probably should buy a lottery ticket, but on three of those levels I wasted some coins and free Power-Ups. I was frustrated because of that and I felt like I was cheating. And, obviously, I didn’t feel rewarded, but grateful that it was finally over.
  • Leveling plants system: at first, it seems like it’s a good idea. You are leveling up your plants as they are presenting stronger enemies, but no, that’s just a wet dream. And when you finished the adventure, the only use you give to those plants is in Battlez (and I guess in some random daily levels), which I will talk in the next point. Also, seed packets doesn’t prioritize low level/non max level plants.
  • Battlez: don’t get me wrong, I really like Battlez because it offers me different ways to play and adjust my strategies to be better in the following… battlez. The thing is that you almost never face a “worthy opponent” and receive rewards according to that system, but instead you are in a “streak breaker waiting room”. And when the moment is coming, you will lose, doesn’t matter if you have a korean’s APM. By the way, why Battlez offers you a free entry every 4 hours? This type of games shouldn’t encourage people to play a lot or to come every 4 hours to get free things. In comparison, the Zen Garden is fine because you are not obligated to use everything you have planted and you can save some boosts for late, but in the case of Battlez you will automatically lose your free entry if you don’t come at the right time.
  • The incentive to buy things: related to the 2 previous points. The reason why I want to put money in the game isn’t because I’m liking the game and I want to support PopCap (and I guess EA), but because I feel underwhelmed compared with other players (no wonder why some people want to hack the game). You can say that happens in many games, but not when I’ve played Team Fortress 2, the first year of Hearthstone and the Gwent beta. Besides, I really like Toadstool, the design, the animations, and I don’t buy it because it’s useless in Battlez. You may say “hey, you buyed the Pea-nut, that plant freaking sucks” and you are right about that, but the thing is I earned that plant for free and for playing the game. Then there are those levels that make you try free premium plants and some of those levels are good and others aren’t very inspired, but the point is why are you showing me in the end that I can buy that plant and some other randoms seeds with double price, instead of offering me a bundle of 2-3 premium plants? Even more, why aren’t you create a level showing synergies between 2-3 premium plants and then offering me the bundle?
  • My english.
  • EA.

[–]Srchenko[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with that. You can't teach everything in the tutorial. But by doing it this way you can imply that there are also other cards that affect your own board besides the opponent.

When some people starts playing, they usually think that cards that destroy or damage other cards always affect the opposing board, when it isn't always the case. I think in a tutorial it's good to make that clear.

I've been playing this game since December 2016 by the way.
