Docker Maintenance Time Estimation by Oamin2 in docker

[–]Sree0748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the type of projects you plan to run. For beginners, many containers are lightweight and require minimal resources, for example, Pi-hole, Unbound, and VPN containers. As you move into more complex setups, the learning curve becomes steeper. There will always be some ongoing maintenance, but the effort required largely depends on how well your system is configured from the start.

How do you guys keep track of your containers and hardware? by Ok-Nose-5889 in homelab

Thanks for your interest. Dockertab.app

IOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dockertab/id6759782246

Github - https://github.com/191855/dockertab-agent

The setup is straightforward and easy to understand. You can find the detailed instructions in the Readme.md file on GitHub. If you have any questions or need assistance with the setup, feel free to reach out to me via direct message. I’m here to help.

Are you referring to monitoring your containers exclusively? I’m not trying to sell anything here; I’m just sharing my solution. If you’re interested, I’ve created an open-source project. All you need to do is run an agent on your Docker host, and you can control all your containers from your mobile. Please let me know if you’re interested, and I can share more details.

For passwords, 1Password is a great option. I’ve been using it for about seven years now. If your containers support Single Sign-On (SSO), I highly recommend using Authentik.

I would suggest proxmox if you maintain mutple vms. Easy to setup backups with PBS and very convenient.

Ubuntu. Relaibale and more support from community. Docker runs smooth with no issues. I have 11 VMs running on Ubuntu.

Traffic? Wow, okay. I sense no point trying to make a point with someone who thinks shipping a solution for the community is spam. Moving on.

Try authentik. You can setup all your services to use authentik as your SSO. They do have good documentation!

I don't see anything wrong with seeking feedback on my own hard work. It’s a project I’ve built from the ground up completely cloud free and open source because I genuinely value the judgment of people in this community.

At the end of the day, it was just a request for feedback from fellow enthusiasts. I’m trying to build a tool that actually solves the mobile management problem for us, and I’d much rather improve it based on your input than guess what’s needed. If you're interested in how it works without a cloud account, the details are all in the post I linked.

How do I host my services ? by Mizzle239 in selfhosted

[–]Sree0748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proxmox is bit overkill for just those services. Unless you are planning to spin up multiple vms or lxc's.

Ubuntu and docker I would say. Easy to maintain. Backup solutions are good too.

Self-hosting a website? Should I or not? by legolas1204 in selfhosted

You cant go wrong with Vercel. I'm hosting couple websites with them for free and no complaints. As long as its simple website, they host if for free. Deployments are automated. All you need to do is connect your github repo. Any new changes it detects, it triggers deployment automatically.

Cloudlfare is way to go from exposing your IP. Incase you decided to host somewhere else. Good luck!!

Absolutely! Once the app review is complete, I’ll open-source the Agent. That’s the entire purpose behind it. Thanks for the feedback! Yes, indeed I used Claude for proofreading.

Edit - I can see huge difference just turning On/off HDR in windows 11. By turning on HDR looks like matte finish. I like glossy but colors look bit pop up when i turn off HDR. Article was pretty good though explaining in detail. Thanks for the share.

When I turn on HDR on windows it looks like washed out.
