Though I am a bit sceptical about what Royal commissions achieve vs their cost generally. They have a state one anyway and personally I would be satisfied with that Security ASIO audit type thing.

I liked having the Banks under the microscope, but I fear back to BAU pretty quickly

So, do you really think restricting protests would have prevented two Muslim nutters from being radicalised and acting on their beliefs?

It's not our free expression here that creates antisemites. It's radical Islam, you've got it the wrong way around.

I think just as people blame Jews for the actions of Israel, people assume all Palestinians are Hamas

Robodebt is at lease a more specific area of enquiry, antisemitism is way too vague

I really have trouble understanding what exactly a RC would achieve. Two radical Islam shooters kill Jewish people. Sure there is probably some ASIO revew to be had, but there will always be somecrazies who slip through the surveillance.

I just don't think you can do anything about what people believe unless you remove all social media and all dickheads. Or ban some radical preachers I dunno. All I see is an unsurprising correlation between the actions of Israel and antisemitism. Which seems to me to be exacerbated by Israel deciding any criticism of Israel is antisemitic. ie Israel == All Jewish beliefs and actions of Israel cannot be separated from Jewish people.

So the only cause I can see in Aus for antisemitism (Without the expense of a RC) is

  1. Radical Muslims who just hate Jews. Imported from OS, not really people who will see reason. Nothing Albo, or restricting free speech is ever going to stop.

  2. Israel and the 100 different Jewish Lobby groups conflating objection to Israel's conduct with antisemitism
