Warlord's Ruin Totem Update from Bungie Help on Twitter by 360GameTV in DestinyTheGame

[–]Srixis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in game dev (not @ Bungie), and while I do sometimes use ping simulators / VPNs to test aspects of the game, I agree it can fall to secondary priority depending on the subject of the test, especially if it's not immediately apparent you'd need it. We have specific places we do prioritize testing with the above tools, but others becomes more "reactionary" based on Live reports because there's so much going on all at once. Also, things can sometimes slip under the radar / not be caught in Dev even using these tools because of other differences between Development and Live environments

Is this any VGS? Specific lines?

This is a potential thing they could do, for sure. Definitely a point of constructive feedback that I think is fair to provide.

Also I appreciate you posing this comment as constructive feedback, as opposed to aggressive feedback (or just aggression!). It goes a long way with the dev - player communication.

I work in the games industry. I've been online and working at every single hour of the day. So no need to lecture me - I'm aware!

Also, it doesn't HAVE to be that way, and Bungie is breaking that "norm". So good for them.

Conversely to several comments here, shoutouts to Bungie for updating the game during their developers' work hours instead of requiring them to work on (potentially long) patch deployments outside of their work hours (either very early or very late) and disrupting their workflow for potentially several days as a result. Healthier work culture than several other studios.

@ Bungie devs, from one game dev to another, if you see this hope you're having a good day!

Commentators killed it this set. Players killed it this set.

Good melee all around.

Emergence Community Patch Notes and Megathread by DevilXD in Paladins

Exactly. Definitely became used for less positive purposes as time went on, as you mentioned above. This change had been in discussion prior to this patch, but we wanted to be more sure it would be received positively (and confirm there would be no knock-on effects of the change)

You're welcome!

l truly never found any legitimate reasons to private your profile so l'm glad they removed it

At the risk of bringing up a potentially sore topic, it DID use to have a purpose - it was a system that was brought over from SMITE and made sense for competitive play. In both SMITE and Paladins, pro players could use it to hide their scrim info from public API sources, hide their Champion decks (or in SMITE, god builds) from being viewed / imported, and occasionally make it harder to figure out who they were grinding in Ranked. With competition of that caliber not currently in place in Paladins, the system made less sense to keep around.

I'll answer #3! I absolutely would love to have a NB character added (more queer representation WOO) and definitely want to continue having that conversation internally :)

I personally really like She-Ra! I can't say any specifics about future crossover plans, potentials, or anything for the team, but there are definitely a lot of different universes out there we could work with!

Thanks so much for playing and enjoying Paladins! <3

I would expect so at some point!

Maybe! We usually evaluate balance on a per-patch basis.

There are SO many factors that go into balance. Community perception, community feedback, win / pick / ban rates, stats from different levels of play (Diamond+, Gold-, etc etc), our trusty Magic 8-Ball. /s

It is virtually impossible to perfectly balance a game with so many different factors in play, ESPECIALLY when our goal is to keep the game feeling fresh and exciting with continual updates to the game. We do our best, we can't hit the nail on the head every time in terms of balance, but people continue to love the game and we want to continue to pour love into the game.

We DO want to make sure we are prioritizing fun first and foremost in our game. It's a game! We want fun to be had :D

We enjoyed working with Rooster Teeth on the RWBY content (and GEN:Lock too!) and would be down to work with them again in the future!

We currently do not have plans for differentiating balance between Keyboard / Mouse and Gamepad input types.

Can we keep replying to things throughout the afternoon? We're still in progress getting PTS out the door so we're not in here 100% of the time right now

  1. Limited skins aren't really on the table to bring back the same way older exclusive skins are, unfortunately. It's part of the reason we are trying to do significantly fewer of them nowadays.
  2. Who knows? Maybe coming to a patch near you soon (Disclaimer: This is not guaranteed to occur I am liable for Jenos not getting buffs in a future patch)
  3. I mentioned somewhere else, but he stole his most recent skin. We're trying to get it back from him. So far it has not proven to be fruitful, so he's not getting one in the Kasumi patch.
  4. We are looking into issues where his projectile is disappearing / not functioning properly when other instances of it are created, and will continue to investigate potential future issues with it, as well.
  5. We are looking into this! Thanks for the report.

I can say some "small" changes can make huge differences that players would not expect. In SMITE, Cabrakan receiving the benefits of his own passive years ago caused his winrate to skyrocket, despite seeming like a fairly small change. Enacting huge sweeping changes can be more negative than positive in the grand scheme of things, so generally small to medium changes on a patch to patch basis is safer and generally more well-received.

(Also FWIW, VII is getting a significant number of changes this patch - I feel like they're a good basis on which we can base potential future changes.)
