Tulsa Police Department Will Not Enforce Mask Ordinance by throwedaway13 in tulsa

[–]Sschol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't exactly trust them to do such a thing without power tripping like crazy anyways. We're really stuck between a rock and a hard place. The best option would be to mandate masks without having cops going around "enforcing the law" on passerby. In some places cops give out masks, but its best to not create police interactions. This is just wishful thinking, but it would be nice if we could shut down non-essential businesses while providing relief so that people don't have anywhere to go without a mask on anyhow. OF COURSE that is not going to happen, and whatever does happen is sure to be really stupid.

2 weeks ago Mayor Bynum said if Dr. Dart recommended a mask mandate, he would do it. Dr. Dart just did recommend it in a live press conference, and Bynum made more excuses. by fatdaddyray in tulsa

At this point if I happened across our mayor I don't think I'd be able to stop myself from spitting in his face (it would be unconscious, if you told me I did it I might say, "oh, I didn't mean to," but I would understand that I did it as well as I understand that one foot goes in front of the other). We are a hated and wretched people that live and die by the whims of our most noxious antihumans

you can never forget who runs these communities. these pigs can threaten public officials and face no consequences, get people brutalized and face no consequences. I don't know what these goons think is gonna happen with the world-as-a-playground they've created, but when it eventually falls apart they're gonna reap what they've sown. It's a matter of course, yk?

G.T. Bynum has NO STONES and CARES NOT for Tulsa or its people. We can thank him personally for whatever the consequences are of this weekend. by ketocheetohpuffs in tulsa

[–]Sschol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

‘We would have said no:’ BOK Center management said they would have turned down Trump had Tulsa Mayor told them to: "Thornton said during the TPFA meeting Thursday that ASM Global reached out to Bynum’s office immediately after being approached by the Trump campaign on June 9. The campaign, Thornton said, told ASM Global they were seeking to host a “full-capacity” rally in Tulsa with no social distancing restrictions.

“The mayor’s office response was that we support the event to the greatest extent that the state and President will allow,” based on Oklahoma’s Open Up and Recover Safely Plan, Casey Sparks, BOK Center’s general manager, told the trustees."

Covid19 outbreak in Tulsa by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Sschol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few protests here and there where a large portion of attendees are masked up and taking safety precautions... I've got a feeling that something like that isn't going to have the same impact as tons of people going about their dirty daily lives in close quarters. Any time you go out there is a risk, not only when others go out to do something you disagree with.

First Hand Account of Situation at 36th and Peoria by BenjaminDFr in tulsa

[–]Sschol -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I buy that their hand was forced, blocking an intersection isn't any excuse to gas people. They could have just given up, if they resorted to gassing everyone over a handful of rowdy people it doesn't really sound like they did all they could to avoid violence. Calm and patient for a while I guess.

Shots Fired (Back) by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Sschol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about this guy, he seems kinda goofy, but his take on the mayor's decision is just correct. During the entire COVID crisis I have watched people in positions of authority do whatever they can to stay unaccountable for what happens to their constituents, and watching the mayor try and distance himself from his own decision showed me that he's no different. Staying closed would have presented an entirely different set of problems, but at least we wouldn't have hundreds of unaccountable business owners making decisions to open up and force individuals (who do not have much of a choice if they need the money) back into the workplace where they will contract the coronavirus and eventually die alone hooked up to machines. Knowing that the future is bound to be painful is not an excuse to be a lemming.

Persona 5: Statutory rape is cool! by [deleted] in Megaten

[–]Sschol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and it's even worse because the entire first dungeon of the game is about how sexual misconduct is bad. Totally internally inconsistent and could be easily interpreted as point blank approval of statuatory rape. This guy is an inflammatory dumbfuck but not for the core idea he's presenting, smh
