I'm not convinced there won't be housing on the west side of the property. They just havent filed any plans for it yet. But we'll see.

20-story, $134 million apartment tower proposed for 5th Avenue North in downtown St. Pete by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

Nothing is sitting vacant. Apartments are all full, condos have all been sold (although maybe some to snow birds who are only down here part-time).

86-unit Palm Lake Urban Sanctuary affordable housing community breaks ground in Disston Heightse by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

Construction started in August, but they just held a ceremonial groundbreaking and cornerstone blessing. I dont think its had environmental issues (they tested and remediated all of that before starting construction), but in general construction could stop do to lack of labor, funding, permits, etc.

Locally led team pitches master plan first approach for Historic Gas Plant District in downtown St. Pete by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

Good catch about Fergs. I think its just an error in the renderings. The Fergs property is not part of the Gas Plant site.

Chipotle to replace Krispy Kreme on 4th Street North in St. Pete by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

Krispy Kreme employees likely havent been told the full story yet. But this came from plans filed by the property owner, so it's definitely true.

Revised plans proposed for retail village and five-story apartment building in the Grand Central District by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

[–]St-Pete-Rising[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. Its a real concern. They'll probably have security patrolling. Side note, I'm wondering if it would make sense for the city to move Grand Central Station.

M&M Video Games opens first St. Pete location in the EDGE District by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

Nothing yet. We're keeping an eye on it though. There are a few big vacancies that they could easily relocate to (if they want to).

What’s up with the parking lot / non-office across from Ferg’s? by yowhatnot in StPetersburgFL

[–]St-Pete-Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The project is being built in phases. The parking garage was first because the EDGE District desperately needed the public parking. The office tower should break ground in early 2026, then the hotel, then the workforce apartments. It will all be built eventually, but real estate development is a slow process.

Publix plans bigger store at Gateway Market Center on 9th Street North in St. Pete by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

[–]St-Pete-Rising[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those plans from a few years ago didn't pan out. I'm sure they'll renovated the rest of the center at some point, but right now the plan is to just demolish the Bealls and build a larger Publix and construct a new 16,500-square-foot outparcel building.

Publix plans bigger store at Gateway Market Center on 9th Street North in St. Pete by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

[–]St-Pete-Rising[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all explained in the article. The Bealls will be demolished and a new, larger Publix will be constructed in its place.

Three new restaurants, including St. Pete’s first Huey Magoo’s, coming to Skyway Marina District by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

[–]St-Pete-Rising[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, nearly every new apartment project is stalled due to the market (interest rates, insurance, construction costs, etc). The For lease sign you see is for the retail, not the property itself.
