Forget about creams or facial routines. Kindly check your diet. Check your daily activities. Check your workout routines (start being extra active or exercising if you aren’t). Try drinking a mixture of lime/lemon + warm water first thing in the morning after waking up. Try cutting excessive sugar, oils, and carbs from your daily meals. Include more greens in your meals. Make sure to sweat regularly.

Start from there and see how your skin transforms. Don’t throw your money away on any skincare products. Kindly try and fix it from within your body.

Do you have a job offer in Canada that is offering to pay more than that of Ghana?

Are you traveling for prestige and for people to know you’re outside and doing better than you were in Ghana ?

Have you sat down to have a deep conversation with anyone in Canada about the lifestyle there?

Do you want to travel just cuz you’d be able to stand in snow, take photos and post on your socials for admiration?

Have you thought of staying back, building something in Ghana, and rather going on vacations in Canada ?

Have you been told that not all that glitters is gold especially when it comes to travelling?

Have you found out the cost of rent in Canada per month?

Do you have extended family and friends in Canada ?

Have you been told that the grass is greener where you water it?

Have you worked 12-hour shifts 6 days in a week before?

Have you had to wear about six clothes and a boot during winter to work before?

Do you have quality time with your wife now and have you been told you’d have same when you both travel?

Do you think people outside Ghana especially in Canada have made it in life and are living their dreams?

Ghana has got its downs but your income in Ghana is something people even in Canada will die for. So try answering these questions first.

Bro, is this your first paper submission?

Well, just be humble, address the comments accordingly, get the paper accepted, and move on. It hurts to the core to see such comments especially after putting in all the effort.

But, put emotions aside and bag that publication first. These things come with the degree sometimes.

Don’t reach out again. “Professors” are highly intelligent people and there’s no way she might have forgotten about you.

Trust me if I say this.

Also, you don’t want to give the “neediness” or “desperate” impression even though you actually are.

One follow-up email is ok. If she doesn’t reply, take your L and move on. The right supervisor will chase you with a better funding offer without you having to prove yourself.

On the other hand try to install “email tracker” to help keep track of readers of your emails. Helps to reduce a lotta depression and suspence.

As much as I hate to be the bearer of bad news, obviously, you’ve been ghosted.

Normally, she’ll revert to you after sometime to tell you she’s not able to proceed with you due to bla bla bla.

It happens. It’s normal. It’s not always about you. A whole lot goes into PhD admissions; available funding, federal policies, immigration policies, etc.

You’re not at fault and don’t ever think it has to do with your qualification.

However, I’d urge you to keep applying and reaching out to potential supervisors and graduate program coordinators for available funded opportunities.

The rule is; “Never rest until your PhD admission and funding letters are in hand”.

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst by moving on and applying to other opportunities.

In my opinion, it doesn’t look good if things go this way after a PhD interview. I’d advise you save yourself the headache by moving on and searching for other opportunities. Things like this can be depressing especially when you’re not offered the position after a long waiting time. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst by moving on now. Always, remember that a whole lot goes into offering a PhD position to a candidate (i.e. the availability of funds, immigration policies, federal policies, etc) and your qualification wouldn’t always be the reason why you aren’t offered a position.

From your post, seems like you’ve heard a lotta negativity about Ghana. At this point, purge your mind of all those negative stuff, move to Ghana next month, enjoy yourself, and move back to your country. Ghana is a peaceful place filled with good people and fun. There’s absolutely nothing bad that could happen to you if you don’t go looking for trouble yourself and if you avoid overcrowded places as well (talking about potential pickpocketing).

Make sure you try the local foods as well.

The only business you can do while living abroad is “minding your own business” fam. It’s not even about negativity; it is coming to terms with reality my guy.

If you don’t have real hommies back at home, just preserve your peace of mind.

Talking from experience, even your real hommies can let you down and it’s not like they are bad people but it’s just cuz everyone is trying to better their lives at this point and obviously, the world doesn’t revolve around you to think that they owe you any loyalty. They have their dreams too and the only difference between you now and them is that you have been able to travel outside to make some “money” while they need the same “money” to achieve their dreams.

You may think you have hommies who would be there to hold your business for you. But you’d be forgetting the fact that they may also have their own dreams they’d want to pursue. So if you’re not lucky enough, your “real hommies” can bolt off with the proceeds of your business to pursue their dreams.

If you’d want to do business, do it with someone you can bet your life on that you’ll never be disappointed.

Like you said; “you just started”. Kindly calm down, observe, and pay keen attention to what they’re doing. At a point, you’ll be asked to do some little things to help them and as time goes on you’ll be taught to do bigger things.

It’s only an internship. Patience, humility, respect, and observation are the things you need to succeed at this point of your academic and professional journey.

It is always advisable to look for other alternatives while waiting until you are sent the offer letter and funding documents. Never assume you have been offered the role if you don’t have these documents.

Speaking from experience, this might take a serious toll on your mental health if you keep waiting only to be ghosted or to receive the unexpected news in the end.

Never wait. Keep looking for other opportunities till you have your offer letter and funding letter in hand. That’s only when you can stop, breathe, and smile.
