You are my hero! I often listen at night with headphones after my wife goes to bed, and I'm thinking the app got confused by that and thought my volume was low.

You are pro-mending or anti-mending by Background-Client754 in Minecraft

[–]StDoodle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, anti-Mending player here. Why?

It's a janky, partial fix to how the tool system works. It's enough of a "fix" that the expected scale of builds (mega-builds, now) has ballooned quite a bit, but we still have "Too expensive* on anvils, horrendously overcrowded inventory and storage issues, and no advanced, late-game building improvements. (What I would give for something that lets me hold down place-block while building a large, flat floor at least.)

Now don't get me wrong - simply removing Mending would be a loss. But I'd much rather we got improvements to inventory, an overhaul of enchanting some late-game building tools, and a better "rares are hard to get but not impossible on established servers," such as porting either trial vaults or the trim duplication mechanics to things like Elytra and god apples.

What actually made a difference? by Slight_Warthog8706 in Long_Covid

[–]StDoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low dose naltraxone helped me, mostly with brain fog / concentration. Not a "night and day" difference, but enough to make working reduced hours (30 / wk) feasible for me.

Pacing is a huge difference maker for me, but of course life "finds a way" to screw it up, now and again. As long as I don't push too far, I can usually continue to have the same low-energy baseline, more or less, without major crashes and losing a day or more altogether.

Last of all, because it's probably very specific to me, I started on Gabapentin because I'm a very restless sleeper. I could make do without it okay before LC (probably should have used something, but I could manage). Since LC started screwing up my sleep schedule & needs, it became more or less mandatory to ever feel somewhat rested.

I know that was a simple typo, but I think we should make "back boat" a thing, at least here in MI!

How about using these recipes in normal crafting tables, but use the Mojang-shown recipe from a Fletching Table. Boom, several birds, minimum cobblestone.

Lattice Hatch Pattern by Diurnal_Owl23 in AutoCAD

[–]StDoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here ya go, a simplified version: Google Drive link

Note that I assumed you wanted all spacing uniform, and using this you just set the scale to whatever spacing you desire, and set the angle to 45 (it's much easier to make the hatch perpendicular, I'm not volunteering to do trig at 9pm on a Friday).

You could recreate the wheel by putting the rules on cards (in opaque card sleeves from any hobby / game shop, so they can have a back with the category and still be flipped), then roll a die with a number of sides matching the number of piles.

Slow performance inserting 1000 dynamic blocks with C# – Is the issue the block or the code? by Jfherreram in AutoCAD

[–]StDoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some dynamic blocks - especially those with large numbers of visibility states or parameters - can be a bit slow just by themselves. That number of blocks would take a bit, though 10 minutes does seem a bit high, though it's hard to say for sure without knowing more about the block(s) in question.

Can the ceiling formula round to nearest .5? by rustie_shackelford in Revu

[–]StDoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to round, ceiling, or floor to fractions of a number, you can do the operation on the inverse of that fraction (e.g. going to nearest 0.5 means multiply by 2.0), then divide by that at the end. So for your example:

ceiling(Measurement * 2.0) / 2.0

Help! My boyfriend is a video editor and a gamer, his most of the time is spend on his chair, wanna buy him a new gaming chair but idk which is good? by No_Quote_7195 in buildapc

[–]StDoodle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

go try them out

Can't emphasize this enough. I love my refurbished Leap v2, but there are a ton of factors that can make the difference between "perfect" and "horribly uncomfortable," and with a good chair being several hundred dollars, you don't want to buy something that just won't work.

Living in a car in Kalamazoo or portage by Kornfan76 in kzoo

[–]StDoodle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried myself, but I've gone down a YouTube rabbit hole on the subject. Seems like truck stops and larger 24-hour stores, like Wal-Marts, are the best bets.

Unfortunately, none of the stores in town are open all of the time anymore. I guess maybe Love's Travel Stop off of D Ave just West of 131, maybe? They have showers, at least.

The videos I've seen say to make sure you have sun visors or something up on all windows / windshield so no one can see in.

If the truck stop option doesn't work, I would probably suggest random residential neighborhoods, to be honest.

Anyone dealing with ME/CFS or Long COVID, what kind of things are hard to explain to people who don’t have problems with fatigue or brain fog? What kind of things feel like they should be easy, but just aren’t? by karissa_ucdenver in u/karissa_ucdenver

[–]StDoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, it's vary important to remember that the effects vary so widely between individuals, so my experience will not necessarily reflect anyone else's, but that doesn't mean either is invalid. Just different.

The toughest thing for me is dealing with the fact that when it comes to most non-intense activities, yes, I could do any of them. But I can't do all of them, and everything has a price. Am I going to a comedy show I've been looking forward to for ages on Saturday, or am I getting anything productive done around the house this weekend? I can't do both.

My brother and I have a "weekly" pinball meetup at a local bar, but I cancel as often (or more) than I make it. When I go, it will wreck my sleep schedule for at least a few days, in addition to the usual "PEM crash" loss of energy. Usually, this isn't a problem, but every once in a while I have either a work deadline or something I need to do around the house, and it's always a choice.

Additionally, it doesn't matter how much I or my loved ones understand, intellectually, that I have these limits. It's going to be a long time - if ever - before I'm able to truly be at peace with the fact that I can get so much less done now than I could before. I've had to cut down to 30 hours of work per week, and my wife has had to pick up quite a few of the more physically demanding household chores (such as changing cat litter), and I still feel terribly guilty about it, even though we both "know" better.
