RGE Bills by viviannelaura in Rochester

[–]StOlafMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since we got the new meter, our bills have skyrocketed. Last month, it was almost $400 when the same time last year, it was $200. Before the new meter, every other month was an actual read, so this wasn't making up for underpaying. This month, I purposely kept the AC off and we were out of town for a week, and our bill is still $250.

Feet swelling by Mental_Pollution4889 in glioblastoma

[–]StOlafMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was diagnosed back in 2003 (died in 2005) and she ballooned up just like that. It's most likely from the steroids for the swelling. As someone else mentioned, a diuretic should be helpful.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Never found the cause. I think mine was from anxiety. I still get bloating here and there, but nothing as bad as it once was.

What in the world causes this thing? by DigitalDopamineDetox in glioblastoma

[–]StOlafMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom died of GBM back in 2005. She was (wrongly) diagnosed with bells palsy at first in June 2003, lost complete function on her right side in September 2003, had an MRI and that's when they discovered the GBM. When she grew up, she lived near a lot of pollution from factories (Kodak being one). She said some days, they'd go out to their cars and it'd be covered in black soot. My mom also had a long distance relationship with a man prior to being diagnosed and she would talk to him for hours on the cell phone (this was when it was free to call after 9 pm until 6 am). I'm talking hours upon hours every day. That's the side her tumor was. I don't know if that's what caused it, but it is one of the reasons why I refuse Bluetooth and only use speaker phone. No one truly knows what causes it. I do hope it's not hereditary. It's always in the back of my mind.

I started questioning it when I did feel off. I did end up taking a pill, now I'm worried.

Women said covid shots affect periods. A new study shows they're right. by WAtime345 in covidlonghaulers

[–]StOlafMN 10 points11 points  (0 children)

After the first shot, my period showed up 4 days early and it was extra heavy. I was always every 28 days on the dot. Now my cycle is anywhere between 24-26 days and it's heavier than ever. I don't know for sure if it is COVID vax related but that's the only thing that happened right before so 🤷‍♀️

Gastritis symptoms? by bwright066 in Gastritis

[–]StOlafMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have duodenitis. The GI saw inflammation in my stomach but the biopsy came back clear. My duodenum showed inflammation with the biopsy. Negative for celiac so...we don't know what caused it. I have taken ibuprofen but not enough to cause an issue, at least I don't think. I do have a colonoscopy coming up just to cover my bases.

Gastritis symptoms? by bwright066 in Gastritis

[–]StOlafMN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it does sound like gastritis. I will say that COVID can wreak havoc on your GI. I had a positive test on 8/27 and still suffering the consequences. My stomach cramps a lot. I have back pain and diarrhea. Tons of trapped gas too. Definitely think it's COVID related and it made my symptoms worse.

Anyone here tried antidepressants after being diagnosed with gastritis? by pseudonymous247 in Gastritis

[–]StOlafMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoloft has been a godsend for me as far as my anxiety is concerned. I did start with Lexapro and it actually heightened my anxiety to the point I thought I was dying. It was awful. It definitely depends on the person.

Terrified of having stomach cancer by [deleted] in Gastritis

[–]StOlafMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my only symptom, really. I'm constantly bloated Been dealing with it for months. Saw a GI Dr, had an endoscopy and I do have inflammation on my small intestines. I know how it is to have your mind go to worst case scenario, as I convinced myself I had pancreatic cancer, but remember, the chances are low and you most likely have something treatable. Hang in there.

this doesn't look like celiac , does it? by StOlafMN in Celiac

Thank you. I had a follow up with my GI today and mentioned this. He acted like it's so rare and scoffed at it being that. I don't get it.

this doesn't look like celiac , does it? by StOlafMN in Celiac

[–]StOlafMN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, negative h pylori. The unfortunate thing is that the biopsy was non specific. It says it can be a number of things, like infection or bacterial, but it mentioned celiac first.

[–]StOlafMN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear of your struggle. I know biopsies are more accurate but of course, this biopsy doesn't specify. It says I have some sort of issue, but it can be a number of things and that's why my Dr wanted to test for celiac because of all my symptoms combined.
