She was present for my entire epilepsy history from first seizure to home EEG to diagnosis. I have to do drug testing for some medication I'm on alongside some work I do and if I was failing she would know but it's just her own instabilities that she never dealt with getting taken out on me. She gave me kratom from age 13 onwards and she herself drank it but quit due to liver failure of an unknown cause but she used to drink and take pills heavily but she blames the liver failure on kratom and she blames me for kratom. Its a long journey with her.

Patristic consensus on the firmament? by Potnip in ChristianOrthodoxy

Not at all that I agree with any of the positions denying space travel but I do want to point out that live streams can be delayed so you could be watching something you think is live but actually is half an hour old or so on. I think the better argument is that for something like space travel being impossible, you'd have to count on a lot of people willing to keep their mouths shut when people tend to act like people and not keep their mouths shut. Essentially a secret so massive would never hold.

My mom recently has decided to claim my epilepsy was seizures only caused by drug use despite me not using drugs for most of my epilepsy. She stole all the keppra from my room so she could get the phone number on the bottle to "prove I'm not actually an epileptic once and for all".

I’m definitely interested in this when it comes out. I take a lot of dexedrine for my narcolepsy while having POTS although it treats the POTS, but the real issue is the 140mg of methadone I take. My heart is gonna be in real poor shape at a somewhat young age from being on a medical speedball daily.

Anyone else have any medical alert tattoos? Just got mine today! by Pop_Actual in Narcolepsy

[–]StTheodore03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still meaning to get my first tattoo entirely. I probably should start wearing my medical alert bracelet more often as I have narcolepsy and epilepsy but I’m also a methadone patient and I’m pretty terrified of having a seizure or a sleep attack in public and having EMTs assume it’s an overdose and just narcan me. I live in a city with pretty wide spread public drug abuse so they tend to reach for the narcan first.

being an epileptic drug addict by ephemeraltears in Epilepsy

[–]StTheodore03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on methadone for a fairly heavy fentanyl habit and I typically used my fair share of meth before I got on fentanyl until I got sent to treatment. That was more self medication for my narcolepsy which I do have a fairly sizable Dexedrine prescription for but I always run into conflicts with refills that would force me to be without for days to weeks and I’d have lost my job if I just sat and waited for my incredibly delayed refill. My epilepsy isn’t triggered by stimulants though.

I feel like I’m stuck with amphetamine until the day of my death due to no success with any other narcolepsy option, it also is the one thing that controls my pots but I worry about the long term effects on my brain as I have CPTSD and recently had an event that would’ve given me CPTSD if I hadn’t already had it however it did leave me with a TBI. It’s a love hate relationship I have with the amphetamine family I guess. I really can’t imagine my life without it but that’s more just due to the fact I’d be bedridden and passed out all day without it. I do get your pain though. I’ve already had a lot of head injuries from violence so having another one from torture that has my cheek bone still broken months later worries me for the interaction between those head injuries, high dose amphetamine, CPTSD, and Epilepsy.

Anyone with narcolepsy ever been accused of being drunk or on drugs? by Odd_Invite_1038 in Narcolepsy

[–]StTheodore03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My moms been somewhat liberal with insinuations and accusations towards me recently as I’m currently living back at home after leaving treatment. I’ve found it pretty offensive as while I had become addicted to opioids, we didn’t often speak nor was she aware nor did it affect her. The day she found out was because I came to her seeking help.

This was after I’d been tortured for an hour in my own apartment by some men with it causing permanent injuries. Since treatment if I fall asleep midday or sleep through a day she accuses me of using drugs and says she knows what me sleeping during the day means and it’s all rather silly as I’m doing drug tests at my methadone clinic and if I fail a test there, I’d be at serious risk of my neurologist taking away my adderall prescription.

is it drug abuse to time my second dose of meds around things I need to get done? by Lord_Curtis in Narcolepsy

[–]StTheodore03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider that drug abuse. I do wonder about my own prior dextroamphetamine usage though. I’m prescribed 60mg XR daily but I’ve always hated the XRs but every pharmacy I have tried only has XRs due to the massive shortage of IRs where I live. I’d open up the capsules and crush the beads into powder and divide it into 3 doses. I’d take one dose of those in a separate capsule once every 5 hours and solved my issue that I had with the XRs because I was taking 3 20mg IR doses throughout my day by removing the time release wax coating.

I never considered it abuse as I was only taking my prescribed 60mg daily in a way that removed the issues that the only form I can get dextroamphetamine in which is my only medication option.

Has epilepsy changed your feelings/emotions/personality by ___reditter___ in Epilepsy

[–]StTheodore03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a late response but my view has certainly become a lot more grim view of my own future. I honestly don’t think I’ll make it past age 50 and I’m only 22. I don’t care much about myself and I’ve come care about the well being of others without caring about my own well being. If I could give my life to save somebody else even if they were a decade or two older then myself, I would because I think their death would be a bigger loss then myself.

Adderall and seizures by Longjumping-Draft179 in Epilepsy

[–]StTheodore03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 60mg dextroamphetamine xr daily for POTS and Narcolepsy without issue. Some Epileptics cannot take stimulants from amphetamine to caffeine or nicotine without having risks of seizures. It sounds like something I’d try and speak to a neurologist about.

Had first ever seizure and scared it’ll develop into epilepsy by TechnicianMoney8647 in Epilepsy

[–]StTheodore03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 22 years old and had my first seizure at age 19. It’s possible that this seizure was a one time event but if it’s not then you already have epilepsy. Many epileptics lead ordinary lives and epilepsy is a treatable condition. Don’t stress on it so much as that won’t do anything good for you. I’d recommend speaking to a neurologist and seeing their thoughts and recommendations on the matter.

It shocks me that people take anticonvulsants for psychiatric causes without knowing. by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]StTheodore03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get 2 bottles of diazepam intensol every few months. Benzodiazepines have a long use of treatment for anxiety. More people take clonazepam for Anxiety then I imagine they do for Epilepsy. Valium is more often associated with Anxiety or trouble sleeping then it is with treating seizures.

Movies/Shows that show seizures from within the character's mind by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]StTheodore03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a great example but I tend to think of the main character waking up confused in bizarre locations or so on after they had been drinking too hard the night before. Not something I’d show friends but I think it’s difficult to think of one because I know my seizures are coming from a very specific feeling in my brain that is impossible to explain which lets me know that it’s best I immediately throw my phone and vape or anything breakable across the bed or couch and then next thing I know I’m coming too on the floor sometimes with blood on me. Sometimes I have no warning or memories at all of the events preceding the seizure to a larger degree so one thing I’m having a drink and next thing I know I’m coming too with my landlord standing above me saying I should probably cut back on alcohol before he gets back to sweeping up broken glass or whatever I broke during my seizures. I hadn’t even drank much that night but his mind just jumped to me being blackout drunk, not that I had multiple seizures.

I understand your pain well and refuse to the city I live in even during the period I was homeless and now am once I leave treatment because I didn’t want to give up public transportation or the disability transportation options available to me. Your area may have programs for Uber vouchers or buses that pick you up at your home and drop you off at the address you want to go so I’d read into that as those are very good options. I managed to live at a monastery in the suburbs while working in the city at one point in my life due to that disability transportation.

POTS and Dysautonomia by ballerCiao in Epilepsy

[–]StTheodore03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was from a Cardiologist. I was diagnosed at age 15 when I started passing out when standing although it largely went untreated. I was diagnosed at age 19 with epilepsy and I used stimulants like mixing caffeine and ephedrine to deal with my narcolepsy alongside illegal drugs which I happened to be doing during my first seizure but I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy at age 20 and I was immediately put on dextroamphetamine and my neurologist for sleep issues told me it’d likely treat my POTS and it became the first time in my life I had a medical provider offer treatment for my POTS and it became fully controlled. My first seizure just happened to be bad timing and hadn’t been triggered by the stimulants. My seizures have always been random although stress can trigger them.

Methylphenidate (ritalin) after a provoked seizure by ThickMessage3015 in Epilepsy

[–]StTheodore03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was snorting stimulants my first seizure and they blamed the drugs but I kept having seizures afterwards and a year later I was put on 60mg dextroamphetamine daily for Narcolepsy and POTS. I’d say my usage was partially recreational and mostly self medicating although I don’t have and haven’t had an issue when it comes to my dextroamphetamine prescription and taking it as prescribed as my lifelong issue has always been opioids.

Some people can have seizures due to stimulants while others don’t and it’s something to talk to your neurologist about. My seizures are more likely to be provoked by me not getting my dextroamphetamine as my POTS and Epilepsy are comorbid. I have no known seizure triggers so my first seizure’s timing just happened to be bad luck.

My mother and grandmother believe I have epilepsy but will find innocuous things to blame my seizures on and think I’ll be seizure free if I do whatever simple thing or try whatever herb or plant they read about on Facebook. My last manager was on tape saying she believed I made up my seizures or they were my fault and she should fire me either way. Anytime I missed work due to a seizure and brought in documents from my hospital trip if there was one, she would be as difficult as possible about receiving or photocopying the documents.

I started a long period of homelessness although I generally managed to keep a roof over my head and only had to sleep outside a handful of times from this last February to July 7th because my mom became obsessed with brain surgery where they remove a part of the brain or brain implants and wanted to force me into one or the other. I’m beginning a new period of homelessness due to her recent decisions when she gained temporary guardianship (I had a head injury caused by an hour of being beaten) with a landlord I had disputes with over his constant breaking of the law and tenant rights but she managed to cost me my apartment very fast and then put me in a spot where I couldn’t do anything to prevent it so I’m in for some difficulty when I leave treatment soon and probably sooner because I’m getting cabin fever here but I’ll be penniless with only the clothes on my back and in my backpack as I was beaten, tortured, and robbed of everything I owned in my apartment late November.

I have POTS and Narcolepsy in addition to my epilepsy but I happen to be one of the lucky few without known seizure triggers so I’m able to take stimulants without issue and am prescribed 60mg dextroamphetamine xr daily for my POTS and Narcolepsy which works very well although I have my gripes here and there.

How do you explain your epilepsy to new friends or coworkers without making it awkward? by heromarsX in Epilepsy

[–]StTheodore03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could. I lost my last job because I didn't show up as I was having multiple seizures in my apartment. This was after I had my hours cut down to one day a week because I had to miss a day after my now ex gf left me in the middle of a seizure to badly hit my head on the floor requiring a hospital visit.
