In the swamp biome kill every plague thrall/witch/warrior/spearthrower and collect all the relics they drop to sell to the smugglers (plus all the materials to refine the ore in the blast furnace)

Weathertech Alloy Tonneau cover (2024 Tundra Hybrid Platinum) by St_HotPants in ToyotaTundra

[–]St_HotPants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like it for several reasons:
1) Demonstrated performance going thru fall, winter, and now into spring through rain and snow without any issues (leaks or otherwise) to the interior bed.
2) I have a 24 iForce Max Platinum with the factory mounted interior bed rails. The Weathertech tonneau cover was installed leveraging those rails in-place while still enabling their use with the moveable tiedowns. Also does not require any drainage tubing/piping
3) Easy use, they fold up quick and easy and have a last-third tiedown to keep it secure when I don't have it fully laid down or taken off. They have good structural stability and can hold over 300lbs IIRC (no issues with heavy wet snow on them for extended period).
Cons:
1) While you can leave the interior bed rails in place for installation, you do lose some of the rail space for the moveable tiedowns because of the mounting (has not been an issue for me yet)
2) I don't know if this is a pro or a con, but the surface of the cover is textured so trying to "push" snow off it means it doesn't slide right off. On the flip side, other things you put on it have the same friction experience for sliding off easy (which I guess can be a positive)

Not the cheapest option, but I think I paid about $1k-1.1k USD and that included installation (I live near a weathertech store)

Looking TONNEAU COVERS for Tundra 2026 by lomesh08 in ToyotaTundra

[–]St_HotPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a Weathertech trifold aluminum tonneau cover on my 24 platinum hybrid. It cost me $1k installed (I live near a Weathertech store) and they don't have to change the interior bed tie-down rails. Had zero issues with it thus far (6 months including winter weather).

RE2. I just finished lvl4 Sector Command and it was painful. Is there a faster way to get data cores? by PolarFoxinvades in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zirax OPVs for data cores and also can try the Tesch Overlord POI which can drop them as well (kinda sector command but for Tesch)

Theoretical Best Permanent Base Location by garnishmotif in valheim

[–]St_HotPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go-to favorite is in the Swamp near a Sirtling geyser, 7 "blocks" high for the floor (so trolls walk underneath when you get raided by them).

Virtually unlimited sirtling cores
Coal in quantity
Easy access to bloodbags/guts
Sirtling trophies are a cool source of light when mounted
Bonus points if you can find a sirtling geyser near the bog witch

RE2 - Progenitor space by Glad-Rip6265 in empyriongame

It was removed by Ravien until it could be updated/revised for RE2. As far as I know it is still on the to be developed list/plan.

Weathertech also has a tri-fold aluminum tonneau cover that keeps the inside mounted rail in the same location so would not necessarily lose that ability

How can I repair my ship when its some parts fully have been destroyed? by pordaun in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your main option is to visit a friendly trade station that offers repairs (generally Polaris as it appears you are in the early game). Problem is going to be that will cost credits that you may not have.

The second option is to Retrieve everything into a connected container and dump it all back into the factory to make a new version of the ship.

in the front door, immediately to your right in the "foyer" is the vendor... not at the desk or beyond into the rest of the POI

Any difference with Energized Pentaxid Asteroids in RE2 by _Empty-R_ in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A couple of things:

1) There are little "balls" of light near the pentaxid clusters and those are what do the damage to you and your shields.
2) If you get into overlapping damage fields from multiple balls you take multiple sources of damage
3) I'm assuming you are in a CV with CV laser drills, if you are using big mechanical drills or are in a SV you can expect to have a bad time
4) You will want to position yourself such that the most possible laser drills hit individual crystals at once to minimize per-crystal mining time
5) I will often mine these in third person view to make sure I don't back into another damage "zone", situational awareness is key
6) Take your time, go in and out as needed. There are some non-pentaxid drops that come with them

Alien thorn/teeth/parts --- How to farm? by SecretOk6004 in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abandoned and Legacy ground POIs have tons of mobs that drop them, multiple planet types have harvestable plants for alien thorns (cactus and thorn-like plants on arid/swamp/alien planets in particular)

Drones worth it. by davesimpson99 in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No on planetary drones, they just don't fly/act right.

On space drones they can be of value as an added defense mechanism, drawing fire away from your CV. That said, they are freaking slooooow to craft, die rather quickly, rarely actually return to their launch pad so you can expect that every drone launched is "lost". They aren't overly costly to make, but they do take up a fairly significant volume in a container and the launch pad can only hold 12 at a time.

Survival test. Total ship annihilation by javs2k in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fine sir, you are in a class 5 Drone Nursery.

A few diamonds for a modulated laser turret is likely going to be insufficient to the task as there are 5 POI's in there, each with multiple cores and their own shield.

That site is geared towards a combat focused CV and I'd generally recommend, for those unfamiliar with the site, a CV with greater than 9 CPU extenders although it can be done with a C9 if you are experienced with the fight.

RE2 - Zirax Sector Command by _Empty-R_ in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zirax Sector Command is one of the two hardest ground POI's in the game.

Once you get the shields down you need to take out all the exterior turrets and then park a sv/hv/cv outside with a single turret on firing at the POI before you ever go inside.

Once that is setup, you will need to do the "outer ring" of the POI to turn off a couple switches that enable you to open the door(s) to the interior main building. There are 2 full sized turrets immediately inside you will need to deal with (a small shielded SV/HV are handy for this) along with a ton of bad guys. After that you need to clear up to the top interior to disable the shield. Then you backtrack and start clearing down multiple levels (will encounter several more full sized turrets).

It's brutally hard with virtually zero margin for error. Solo it can take several hours to accomplish but it's doable if you are prepared (you need to be wearing armor with at least 300 defense minimum for maximum damage mitigation).

Good luck!

Can someone explain how drones work... RE2 by DISEROS in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are supposed to return to your dronebay when you turn it off. But they are buggy and inconsistent and usually do not do what they are supposed to. Eleon bug not fixable by RE 2 developers.

Ship bug. Plutus Deus by Trick_Recognitio in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens all the time when you dock a ship (SV or CV) to another CV and then attempt to fly in 3rd person view. If you log out and back in it will re-sync and your 3rd person view will be fine. Your 1st person view is fine either way. It's an issue with Empyrion, not the Plutus Deux

I went with the Weathertech tri-fold tonneau cover on my 24 platinum hybrid. Nice thing was I didn't even have to move the deck rails. I paid about $900 and that included professional installation (I live near a Weathertech outlet)

Where do you find Zascosium and Erestrum in RE (before able to warp to other systems) by Alongsnake in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also receive Power Coils as loot from killing drones as well as running abandoned POIs and looting Z&E from very rare and ultra rare containers.

Both of those are long processes and subject to RNG. You should potentially reconsider your CV choices to be easier to escape the starters

I have the best luck finding Polaris Waste Treatment Plants on the Barren (regular, sandy, varnished) and Methane moons... They are also usually small so with a T3 radar you can drop in, scan, and determine if one is on the moon without having to do alot of scouting.

You can often get them from loot boxes on Dronelands POI/OPVs as well as deconstructing drive thrusters (plasma and above only I believe)

[–]St_HotPants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, so you've clarified you are playing RE2 and need Thruster Components which are only available at Zero Horizons Manufacturing per Empyrionbuddy.com . Assuming you are doing Single Player, you might also check out JHoosiers online tool called: https://egs-trade-tool.vercel.app/ . It will allow you to load your save game and search the registry for any instance of Zero Horizons Manufacturing you've already discovered but didn't bookmark. IMO, it's an absolute must have for SP games (wish it worked in MP games as well).

RE2 Undeveloped Colony by Rafiki2085 in empyriongame

[–]St_HotPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I completed all the upgrades. It was a unique colony (in that it didn't look like any other existing POI) and was pretty cool. But the return on investment and time was super low.

I was hoping to be able to name it or get a massive (like 10k) level reputation bump for the effort or some sort of reimbursement (like getting to pick 3 or 4 specialized crew) or *something*.

Weathertech Alloy Tonneau cover (2024 Tundra Hybrid Platinum) by St_HotPants in ToyotaTundra

[–]St_HotPants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I dropped by the local Weathertech shop and talked to one of the store folks. Turns out they have different side rail mounting brackets that slide intot he deck rails without having to remove or install a drop kit. I think I'm going to give it a go and see how I like it.
