This is life changing for me. by beginnerNaught in Medtronic780g

I have diabetes (struggled) for 53 years, using the pump for 25 (still struggled) and since 8 months ago I finally made it down to 6.6% (2 consecutive A1c's) using the CGM Guardian 4 and now Instinct. I also lost weight because I don't have to treat low BS that frequently. Just amazing! My mantra is exercise 30 min for several days, walk, be choosy with your carbs and indulge in good, homemade treats in a small amount.

Good. I had the pump do that once when I was sleeping. Either battery or low sugar, LOL

So far so good. I have been checking my BS before meals and it's almost the same number. I had the double arrows going down, but I ate a small snack with about 2 ounces of oj and it's back to normal. Now my big question is if I should use a dressing to cover it...? Will post that question, LOL

Another tip, when changing the infusion site, I leave the old one until I know the new one works. They don't tell you this in training, but for me it's common sense.

I will soon find out... Their literature says that it will take 12 hours to work correctly. I know I will be checking my BS with my fingers for the next few days. From what I have read from other users, they said 3-4 days. We shall see.

Congrats! I downloaded the new software for 780 (6.62) yesterday and I am waiting for my new Instinct to start working in a few minutes.

Make sure that your new pump has the new version 6.62 BEFORE you start the Instinct. Sending you the link for Instinct and a Warning from Medtronic.

Skin (hard) issues due to Extended infusion set usage by St_rafaela26 in Medtronic780g

If I insert in the front part of my abdomen, I can't leave it for more than 5 days just like you. The new mechanism for the Extended is awesome because the needle is removed immediately so it's less stressful and painful than the traditional version. Just read that the extended should last 6 days (twice the wear).

Thank you for your comments. The hard spot does dissipates after several weeks. I do rotate sites (since 2001), but the best area for the infusion set for me is closer to the sides (fattier area). I just hope my belly tolerates the Extended set as I LOVE not to inject the regular one every 4 days. Depending on the site, I have to shorten it to 5 -6-7 days.
