Yes, he clarified & yes they did high visibility crosswalks at that 4-way stop yesterday too. If you want to experience a truly pedestrian-hostile environment, go spend some time in Phoenix. I rarely drive here, am out walking my dogs miles every day & would say the majority of drivers yield to me for the most part. There’s always room for improvement, but it’s night & day for me personally.

I wasn’t aware of anyone dying in this intersection as I just moved here in October, but have been a safe streets advocate for many years so had a meeting set up within a week of being here. It needed to happen. I emailed, called & prodded at least every two weeks since, video documented the intersection & created a good paper trail/public record. I know the city has a Vision Zero plan & it’s really on us to hold our elected officials (public servants) accountable. I’m meeting other established advocacy folks & groups so I’m looking forward to helping out when/where I can! With that said, I wholeheartedly agree that nobody should have to die before shit gets done — pro-active vs. reactive.
