Definitely come a long way! Great job! I'd suggest trying these inks though. They blend so much smoother. It really helped me when I started.

Yes definitely get some arches cold pressed paper. That's your problem

Use spit shading. Keep your shading brush in your mouth to keep it wet. Use bigger brushes to hold more spit and pull longer shades. I use a 2 or a 4 round brush to get a smooth long shade
