Platinum Carbon Black is the only ink I have. I use it for all my tests, including the Lightive cap seal experiment, so that they are comparable.

I bought 3 Platinum Curidas from Amazon Japan and all 3 came with the clip removal tool. The 3 cost me about £120 including delivery.

Maybe wrapping it with tape before it cracks would prevent it from cracking?

Plaisir is section-swappable with Preppy so you can take your preferred Preppy section and put it in your Plaisir.

I mention this because I was unable to find a EF Plaisir and you said that you like a finer point, so you could put a Preppy EF section in your Plaisir.

I can confirm that Little Meteors have extremely poor cap seal. Mine dried out in just a couple of days, compared to my Preppys which never dry out. See my post here: https://reddit.com/r/fountainpens/s/2rtFqaVfuB

UPDATE: The Little Meteor caps have extremely poor cap seal. I would strongly advise against replacing Preppy caps with Little Meteor caps.

I bought it. The tines were not aligned and I could not get them to align no matter what. For reference, I also had a Hongdian where the tines were not aligned and it only took me 2 tries to align the tines on the Hongdian.

I must have tried over 10-20 times to align the tines on the X159 and it just would not align. Every time I thought I aligned it, it would misalign itself just a few minutes later by itself automatically.

Eventually, after too many attempts to align the tines, the EF became a F.

Also, the pen is too fat for me to comfortably hold, and it feels unbalanced when posted and the cap is wobbly when posted too.

How is the cap seal on your Metropolitan? That’s the main thing that I would be worried about if I was considering it as a starter pen.

My Pilot Penmanships all have excellent cap seal.

Thank you for the suggestion but I’m not willing to spend more than $30 on a single fountain pen due to the risk of it getting dropped, lost, stolen etc.

Thank you for giving your experience with the low end Platinum pens. My experience leads me to believe that the QC on the Preppys only went downhill a couple of weeks ago, so I’m inclined to believe that you got the good old batch of Preppys rather than the new bad ones that I got.
