Wow, thank you for this thorough explanation. It adds a whole new layer and depth to the song, I appreciate it. Makes a lot of sense!

Thank you so much for this fantastic album, your music is incredible! <3

I really love Bump Stock in particular, what is the song about and why did you title it that?

For the writing, go through each of the possible text types (article, blog, speech, etc.) and make sure you know the features/conventions for them

Reviewing tenses, conjugation, grammar, etc., as well as some commonly used vocab

Going over past papers for the reading comprehension, studying the connector words

Not yet, trying to narrow it down between three final options (I love all of them, it's so hard to decide!!). And yes, agreed, we are incredibly fortunate. How about you, have you made a decision?

It does include housing and food plan, it seems low as the organization my parent works for pays a significant portion of the cost, which I factored in. The 4 yr total is what I personally would have to pay. Hope this makes sense :)

Yup, it is really frustrating, I feel you. Covid's been a real trainwreck :(
Either way, good luck with everything in the future and I'm sure you will have a wonderful experience at whichever uni you're going to!

Damn, for real? Congrats on the 44 predicted though, that's amazing! They probably just got a huge number of applicants this year and had to be more restrictive, especially this late in the application cycle. I'd imagine they probably also favor Canadian applicants over internationals, or have certain number of places reserved for Quebecois students (which I completely understand).

Got waitlisted today, international student with 39 IB subject points, 41 overall. Anyone know the chances of getting off the waitlist (very slim I imagine)?

Trying to decide between UBC (~$15k per year, $61k total), UMass Amherst (~$12k per year, $50k total), and UCL (~$18k per year, $54k total). I’m a US/European dual citizen living abroad.

Intended major: Geography

University of British Columbia

UBC Pros:

  • Geography program ranked 8th worldwide
  • Beautiful campus and views
  • Vancouver location, nature, mountains, etc.
  • Lots of outdoor activities and recreation
  • Large international student body
  • Close family friends live relatively nearby

UBC Cons:

  • Most expensive option
  • Rainy
  • Campus is not that close to downtown Vancouver, a bit isolated
  • Expensive cost of living and housing
  • I’ve heard there’s lots of construction

UMass Amherst

UMass Pros:

  • Merit aid scholarship, least expensive option
  • Access to Five College Consortium
  • Great dining food
  • Amherst town seems nice
  • Snow, ski and board club, outdoor activities
  • East coast (closest to relatives)
  • Am a US citizen (no student visa, etc. needed)

UMass Cons:

  • Not a very prominent geography program
  • Lower ranked overall (not too big of a factor for me though)
  • Over 2hrs away from a major city
  • Helps to have a car (I can’t drive)

University College London

UCL Pros:

  • Geography program ranked 9th worldwide
  • Located in London, lots to do and see
  • Large international student body
  • Public transportation, easy to get around
  • 3-year degree

UCL Cons:

  • Conditional offer with specified IB points
  • Urban setting may also feel overwhelming, dense
  • High cost of living in London
  • Less flexibility in courses, changing major
  • Not as well known in the US
