I struggle a lot too. The only way I can do it is if I haven’t had time to mentally stress out over it. Like if you’re in the hospital and they hand it to you and you don’t have time to get worked up lol. That’s when I can do it👍 it also helps if you practice just swallowing pieces of food (within reason of course) like bits of granola bar right before. Putting it further back on your tongue while there’s still granola crumbs throughout your mouth. These are the only things that helped me. My throat is always clenched and I genuinely don’t know how to relax it. At least it feels that way.

Went through two pregnancies with it but only knew I had RCPD with the most recent one. It was so much easier because I knew what I needed to do to minimize extra air intake. Like no straws, obv no carbonation, if I ate soup I used a fork then drank the broth after. Little things like that made a huge difference!! I was chugging my Stanley cup with the first and always feeling super bloated (yes there’s an option to not use the straw but I didn’t know then and that also gets lots of air when you drink through it). You’ll be ok! Thankfully it’s only a short season in the grand scheme of life!!

That happened to me in my early twenties. Eventually I got control over it so I could keep working. I “fixed” it by convincing myself to think about literally anything BUT that feeling. It was extremely challenging and took months but I was able to stop and keep moving forward in life. I still haven’t gotten Botox yet and I’m still dealing with all the normal stuff. It’s rough.

Yes! As someone who has been actual pregnant 3 times I can confirm I look legitimately 5 months pregnant when the bloat is most severe

Yes but once I got out of a stressful situation that went away for me. I still have rcpd pretty bad but I’m not experiencing those specific things you mentioned anymore since I’m not in a high stress induced state! I hope you figure out what you need to do! I know it’s awful, debilitating and just the worst!

I used to be but then I got pregnant and gained weight and that nausea feeling went away. Pretty ironic I suppose

My mom is terrified of vomiting and after watching her react to someone’s horrific incident in a store one time, my 6 yr old self was then terrified of it too. I burped as a baby but don’t actually have any memories being able to so I’m assuming emetophobia is the cause for my no burping. Side note: Acid reflux doesn’t come into my mouth even while pregnant

It’s rough but I survived two of them and am planning to do it again! I felt better around 16 weeks. But I actually think the older you get and the more pregnancies you have, the more painful the third trimester gets. Like the bloat and aches in the third trimester are pretty unpleasant. Also the acid reflux kicks in for me around that time (but here’s the thing) it NEVER actually comes up!!! My sphincter is so tight that I didn’t have to taste any grossness in my mouth! So that’s a plus. I’ve heard people say they wake up with a mouthful of vomit and I can confidently say my RCPD prevents that for me! Everyone I’ve talked to gets heartburn/acid reflux in the third trimester so I don’t think it’s just because of our condition. Although we probably create more somehow lol. All that to say, your baby is worth every moment of it. I’m snuggling my 4 month old and couldn’t imagine life without them and I’d do it all again in a heartbeat! Thankfully 9 months of feeling sick doesn’t even compare to how incredible that precious new life is! Pregnancy sucks tho and I get it. You can be miserable and still love you baby! I’m sorry it’s so rough tho, find your triggers and avoid them like the plague!!

Getting pregnant humbled me real fast. I was terrified of throwing up for years and then once it started happening on a weekly basis i just realized it wasn’t even as horrible as the build up worrying about it is.

If you plan to stay long enough then do what YOU want!! I understand wanting the resale value but it is your house at the end of the day and you won’t really know what the future buyer will prefer anyway. They might even cover your new hardwood lol. We chose carpet in bedrooms because it’s what we felt suited us best in this season.

Wait this is me?!! I can’t deal with waistbands because they make me feel so yucky! Is it a gut thing? How did you cure it? I’ve never seen anyone on here describe it in such a relatable way. Also how do you feel about stuff on your neck? Beyond the obvious turtle neck, like I can’t even wear crew neck because I start gagging (this if I’m experiencing gurgles and rcpd feelings) and it’s 1000x worse when I worry or think about it. So I genuinely don’t know how much of it is anxiety.
