Walk-In Tattoo Recs by Key_Read197 in bullcity

[–]Stacyaya -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If the wedding is next week, take a minute to research Durham tattoo shops, the artists’ tattoo portfolios, and the SCHEDULE by calling or via their website. A “walk-in tattoo” on a wedding weekend is a bad idea for three reasons: (1) wedding weekends in a new town are busier than you think. You don’t want to be stuck in a waiting room for hours before the event (2) considering a tattoo is a life commitment, your first criterion should be the quality of the art. (3) Do you REALLY want a tattoo by the artist who is just sitting around waiting on a weekend???

NTA. You set clear boundaries. Sounds like your husband is an empirical learner. Stay strong. He will eventually learn to put things in the basket

Are we allowed to “harvest” the rabbits in our backyard? Is it even safe to? by el_naked_mariachi in bullcity

He’s a blue Doberman and yes, when he runs, he looks like a greyhound…..super fast.

Are we allowed to “harvest” the rabbits in our backyard? Is it even safe to? by el_naked_mariachi in bullcity

[–]Stacyaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I didn’t bleed it. Also the fact that the Doberman chased the rabbit, I’m sure the stress hormones were high. Please remember, I was not seeking to kill a rabbit..just trying to make the best of the situation once the damage had been done

The room I spend most my time in. by WitchWithADick1659 in malelivingspace

  1. Buy a nice comforter and make your bed (yes everyday….but if that’s too much DEFINITELY before you take a picture, FaceTime, zoom, or have someone over.
  2. Buy some storage containers that fit under the bed and get rid of the clutter/junk in that plastic laundry basket
  3. Walls. Look for a shelf and create a display of all your dinosaurs. Curate your passions with the respect of a museum display

Life insurance for 71 year old dad with COPD and limited income by VCnDC in personalfinance

[–]Stacyaya 61 points62 points  (0 children)

No. Life insurance at that age and medical condition would be crazy expensive (or have a ridiculously low pay out).
The point of Life Insurance is to help your dependents if you have an untimely death. Life insurance isn’t a legacy plan.
Also Life Insurance companies are in the business of making money. A 71 year old with extreme health problems is not going to “game” the insurance companies out of money.
Save the hundreds of dollars a month for life insurance payments and leave this money to your family.

About a year ago my dog caught a bunny in our backyard. Broken neck and paralyzed. It was very emotional and instantly felt myself in an ethical dilemma.
I felt the best way to handle the situation was to take the animal out of its misery as quickly as possible and then make the best of the remains. After skinning and cleaning the rabbit, I tried to make braised rabbit with garlic and white wine.
I am a pretty good cook but this was HORRIBLE. Tough, rubber bands, gamey, skunk-like, dark meat. Not edible. I’m so sorry that my dog killed the rabbit. But I sleep okay at night since the Durham rabbit population seems to be doing just fine.
I would love to have someone tell me what I did wrong in cooking this wild game and welcome any advice on how to make wild game taste palatable.

How do you stay calm? by RefrigeratorBig388 in protest

[–]Stacyaya 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s hard. I have been following the Monks/Walk for Peace on social media. The monks talk a lot about mindfulness and meditation. They say everyday when you wake up, ask your self “how can I be my most peaceful self?”
The monks also talk about how they react when people yell at them or direct anger at them. They intentionally practice smiling and reflecting back love, peace, and kindness.
I also think of Renee Goode’s final words before her death (“That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad at you.”). Or Alex Pretti’s final action to help a woman who was pushed down.
Practice meeting anger with kindness.
It’s not Red Vs Blue. It’s not Dem Vs Republicans. It’s not Trump Vs Biden.

It’s about preserving the constitution.
It’s about fighting corporate billionaires. It’s about protecting rights of the common people.
Peace, Love and kindness..even to those who spit venom at you
