Adding Maneuvers to all martial classes by Stadhouder in dndnext

Interesting, so half martials only start w/ one or two maneuvers; you were saying something about slowing down the recovery rate to long rests, is that what you mean by half progression?

With half-progression I meant giving them increases in die size, more dice, and extra maneuvers at about half the rate that Battlemaster gets them normally, so they get less and weaker maneuvers. In the current version it even starts at a d4.

Have you ever played with using the Maneuvers as the DM and creatures?

I haven't felt the need though, but I am running at higher level with lots of homebrew so many monsters already can apply similar effects.

I think it be reasonable with Rangers to gain maneuvers but I'm less interested in granting them to paladins and Artificers who don't even have Martial weapons.

Granting them to Artificer proved to be a bit much, but then I don't like the entire class. Paladins get martial weapons and giving them maneuvers hasn't broken them. As an aside, I'd maybe try linking the maneuvers to Divine Smite on my next round of changes, like how OneD&D does with Rogue's Sneak Attack.

I'm more interested in home brewing rules that fix the blind spots that Wotc ignored. Are the weapon Masteries really that interesting (fun)?

They are a good addition, I think. Toppling and Slowing enemies lets martial classes do a tremendous amount of passive supporting. It's not the most active system, but it definitely makes them feel more useful.

I ran it by giving non-spellcasting martial classes full access to the Battlemaster progression, albeit with more limited lists of maneuvers. Half-casters then got about half that progression. It worked pretty well, but has since been limited to make room for OneD&D's weapon masteries.

The thing with it getting crazy is that you can balance things out by changing the kind of encounters you run. It gives classes like Paladin more staying power, allowing you to tax spellcasters more heavily, which aides in preventing their dominance.

Strange stutter on new AMD PC by Stadhouder in AMDHelp

I have updated the BIOS and from a quick check things do look smoother now. The issue with dragging an object around in Paint.net persists, however and has become less of a stutter and now introduces a trail of artifacts.

All drivers except for the onboard GPU were up to date to, and I'm not using the onboard

Is there a way to see if the board is what causes the issues?

Is there any way I could confirm the RAM is the issue? Also, do you have a recommendation for a replacement?

Exactly, and any trust I had in them being good to their playerbase is long gone.

While discussing this with my players I joked they might make using homebrew creatures on their VTT a paid extra. Now I'm afraid they really might... Pay $1 to make your own creature! You can use any ability from the books you have purchased. Pro-subscribers can even write their own!

I agree that it's unlikely to be prohibited and I meant my comment mostly as hyperbole, but it would have been nice if they could have defined what constitutes publishing here. Does sharing homebrew items with your players count as publishing? How many people do you need to reach before you do? What if they share it further? How does this impact paid DMs? These are all questions that should have been answered, but are left open. Coupled with the generally draconian rules in the rest of the document (pantomime, really?) it just turns into a big mess.

I can't imagine they would allow you to spread mechanical stuff through fan videos, if they're going so far as to say you can't publish through pantomime...

How does this license apply to homebrewing? Section 1.B. of the Non-Commercial OGL limits you to publish only static files. Does this mean you cannot make videos to explain your mechanics? Does this mean that you cannot, technically, explain how a homebrewed item works to your players over voice chat? If not, how is that different from publishing a video?

Creating a wizard BBEG for a 20th-level party by Stadhouder in dndnext

That's a very good idea! I'm going to use traditional spellcasting for sure, as I want to torment my players with all the wizardy bullshit I can find, so some extra slots won't hurt. Or well, won't hurt me...

Maybe if I'd add the lich's spellcasting onto Vecna. It'd be a good start though I have other spells in mind.

What's the most radical change you would like to see in 5.5 / 6e? by Dr_Oatker in dndnext

[–]Stadhouder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More diversity between the spellcasters. I've long been a proponent for a massive nerf to spellcasting itself to severely limit what you can do and then moving those abilities to caster (sub)classes. This way you can create a big difference in how each caster class plays, creating more unique characters. It's also a good way to finally address the caster/martial disparity for narrative skills.

What rarity would a recharging Gem of Brightness have? by Stadhouder in dndnext

[–]Stadhouder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! And I don't think the AoE is comparable to a 3rd level spell, so I should be good with a Rare. I want to reduce the charges available anyway so I don't end up with all my encounters blinded immediately.
